Republic Day Celebration - 24.01.2019 & 26.1.2020

On the auspicious morning of 24th Jan, our school celebrated Republic Day in the school premises. It was the
matter of great pride for all the students of Nursery to Class 2 to honour the day when the constitution of India
came into effect. The celebration started with the march past followed the flag hoisting and flag salute. The
children put up cultural items that included patriotic songs, dances, skit and speeches of great leaders. On the
occasion of 71st Republic Day, let us salute our mother India. Happy Republic day wishes!!! .

Republic Day is a remarkable day in the history of India as the day when finally the Constitution of
India came into effect in 1950. The 71st Anniversary was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at San
Academy Kamakoti Nagar on 26th January 2020. The entire school was resplendent in the shades of tricolor. The
programme started with the march past which was led by the school band and followed by Scouts, Guides, Cubs
and Bulbuls.
Other students were dressed in their house uniforms. The rear was brought in by teaching and non-
teaching staff. Our Principal hoisted the National flag, the students saluted the National flag and pledged to up
hold the honor and integrity followed by the flag song.
The colourful entertainment commenced with Thamizh Thai Vazhthu. This was followed by a wonderful
speech by Sahana. P of Class VII B. Students from Class IV A sang a beautiful patriotic song with a strong message
by Bharathiyar. Students from V B swayed to the music beat of “Suno Gaur Se”. The little ones from class
III C enacted a skit on the importance of Republic Day, with the teacher in the skit delivering a few thought
provoking messages. The leader’s walk by class VI B had several freedom fighters on the stage, who explained
their contribution to the freedom struggle, which was very enlightening. A patriotic song by class VI students
“Mere Vatan” was quite moving. The finale dance by Tanishka and Kaviya Darshini of Class VII A was a fitting.

Obesity in Children a Global Warning

There has been a dangerous rise in obesity among children all around the world because of rapid, unhealthy
nutritional transition. More than 40 million children are seriously affected by obesity, making obesity the “most
common type of malnutrition” (nutrition deficient) among developed and developing countries.

Causes for Obesity

The urban life style (junk food) and special economic status (more of hotel food) lead to unhealthy obesity. Due to
high intake of energy dense food (high sugar content) and less physical activity (long hours on electronic gadgets)
children become obese.

Prevention is Better than Cure

Educate the kids
Follow traffic light eating habit
RED: STOP (sugary, salty, oily food)
YELLOW: CAUTION (meat, dairy, processed food)
GREEN: GO (fruits and vegetables)
Weight management is a suitable goal rather than weight loss.

Class VII

INTRODUCTION: Facebook friendship has become a new trend with the advent of social networking websites.
Facebook is one of the most popular and common social networking websites. It is easier to be connected to
people via Facebook these days. With the help of only a few clicks, one may be able to build up friendship with a
person residing in another continent.

REAL FRIENDS AND FACEBOOK FRIENDS: There is a huge difference between friends in real life and friends in
virtual life. Real friends are usually our buddies, pals and acquaintances whom we have known for the better part
of our lives. They are people who know us as the person we are and they understand our feelings and emotions.
However, in Facebook we could be friends with people whom we have never met or seen before. Our virtual
friends do not have a clue about us nor do we have about them.

FRUITFUL FRIENDSHIP: It is very rare that friendships created on Facebook get to the point of realization when two
people actually meet each other in person and hang out with each other. Other than this, a majority of friendships
fall short of being called an actual friendship and is only limited to chatting over Facebook.

DISADVANTAGES OF FACEBOOK FRIENDSHIP: The disadvantage is also that if we accept a friendship from unknown
people, they will have access to our personal data and it could be misused. Even the photos and messages posted
by us, is open to all and the photos can be misused.

CONCLUSION: Facebook friendships are virtual friendships and nowhere near the actual friendship, where there
is a lot of sharing with another person. The emotions and feelings of a person cannot always be expressed on a
portal, joy and happiness cannot always be experienced by typing those words on a chat box. It is high time that
people realized that Facebook friendship do not reach the point of bonding most of the time.

Sathya Sathish, VII B

Facebook friends are the same as a real life friend. These aren’t
people you met on Facebook. Once you determine that the
person sending a friend request is a friend of a friend, you can
accept the request and engage in a conversation with them.
Facebook has a lot of fake profiles that have been made by
malicious users, criminal and other stalking men and women.
These profiles bear the same information and photos as that of
one’s friend to lure the innocent people to accept their friend
requests. Once the request is accepted, these fake profiles
get complete license to view all the personal information of
the targeted persons and they may indulge in objectionable
behavior. Such fake profiles have been the cause of misery
and trauma of many people on Facebook, especially girls and
gullible boys.
To prevent from falling prey to the fake identities on Facebook,
one has to change his or her privacy settings on Facebook.
Better yet, think twice before accepting requests.
