III Annual Day Celebration - 9.11.2019

Festivals form an important part of our lives
and they all mean one thing and that is celebration.
Festivals are an event of celebration and joy which
may be associated with religious, cultural or national
events. They have an essential role to play in society.
They bring us all together in the spirit of brotherhood
and togetherness and remind us there is a lot of good
in the world that we live in. Universally all festivals
are related to harmony, peace and happiness.
The theme for the 3rd annual day celebration of
Kindergarten and grade 1, San Academy Kamakoti
Nagar was Festum Fiesta. The children presented
some of the Indian festivals and festivals around the
globe. We believe that Festivals bring us together in
a bond of love, irrespective of colour, creed, race and
religion. We believe that festivals, like life, are gifts
that need to be celebrated.

San Academy Kamakoti Nagar organized its

3rd Annual Day on November 9th 2019 at Kamarajar

Arangam, amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation.

Film personality Mr. Karu Palaniappan was the Guest

of Honour.

“The best and most beautiful things in the

world cannot be seen or even touched. They must

be felt with the heart”. The binding theme for

the Event was the 4 C’s in the 21st century skills

– Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and

Communication.

The theme of the day was explicitly explained

at the beginning of the programme kindling the III Annual Day Celebration - 9.11.2019

expectation of the audience.

Based on CREATIVITY we had the Opening

dance which had the classical flavour, Kathak. The

Ballet, an artistic dance form performed to music,

using precise and highly formalized set steps and

gestures, was characterized by light, graceful

movements mesmerizing the audience. The

Finale dance was a boisterous performance which

energized the audience. A captivating performance

was presented by the students of Shadow play. They

easily maneuvered to resemble entirely different

shapes, using clever and strategic manipulation of

space and light. These amazing and cool artwork

had the audience spell-bound. Other dance forms

involving creativity were Waacking (including martial

arts) and B-Boying (using difficult beats).

Based on CRITICAL THINKING tiny tots

from Class II spread the idea of ‘Happiness and

Togetherness’ through yellow colour (Smileys),

extend the theme of Peace through white colour, and
Celebrating the Environment – The Essence of Life.
We at San Academy COLLABORATED different
Asian countries, with different cultures, brought
together to form a single continent. The broadened
the understanding in the minds of the audience of a
“greater good,” which can lead to world-wide success.
The countries brought onto the stage were China,
Philippines, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Armenia, Turkey and
Thailand.
COMMUNICATION is of two types:- Verbal
and Non- Verbal. A Mime on the impact of adverse
conditions was tastefully presented. Commemorating
the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the
Tamil Skit revolved on what would be the scenario
if Gandhiji appeared in Chennai for a day. The story
thread had the audience captivated. Merchant of
Venice – Though the play had most of its dialogues as
poetic verse, we had the children presenting the story
in the play form. Antonio, Bassanio, Portia, Nerissa,
Prince of Morocco and of course Shylock brought the
stage alive.
The choreography for each dance was unique
and was assisted by well chosen costumes. Teachers’
efforts could be seen as each item had a distinctive
background, special props allowed to drop in from
ceilings, and apt settings given on the stage.  
The Chief guest gave a short speech giving an
insight to his personality. The programme culminated
with the National Anthem.

“We will always have ‘STEM’ with us. Some
things will drop out of the public eye and will
go away, but there will always be Science,
Engineering, and Technology. And there will
always, always be Mathematics.”

The theme for the year’s Project Day was
‘STEM’. In lieu of this we at San Academy
Kamakoti Nagar had divided our groups
accordingly. STEM is a curriculum based on
the idea of educating students in four specific
disciplines in an interdisciplinary and applied
approach.

Science “ÉUREKA 2019”, conducted on December
Technology 20th and 21st gave the opportunity to give
Engineering wings to the students’ imagination and bring

models, charts and activities. They were

CLUB ACTIVITY - HEALTH & WELLNESS
CLUB - April

The need for effective nutritional education
for young consumers has become important in
this day of increasing junk food intake. To bring
in an awareness in San Academy, “Health and
Wellness” Club was organised. Students were
shown various videos to educate them regarding
general and overall importance of healthy eating
and how a healthy diet should be planned.

Intra Competition Classes 1 To 9
11.4.2019

San Academy Kamakoti Nagar always encourages
students to have healthy competition practise,
which passes on a competitive spirit within the
students. This academic year kicked off with an
Intra Competition on “Health and Wellness”.
Our young primary children were given fruits
and veggies, which they had to ‘Show and
Tell’ and they amazed everyone present with
their confident presentation. Other interesting
activities included Pulses collage, Poster making
(comprising of a catchy caption with the strong
message – Say ‘no’ to junk food) and essay
writing on balanced diet. Students got wonderful
and unique ideas to portray their work. Their
creativity was visible in both collage and poster
making. The whole campus was bursting with
energy due to the tremendous efforts put in by
the students.

CLUB ACTIVITY - PHILATELY CLUB -
June

Students of Classes I and II were introduced to
inland letters, post cards, telegrams, etc and
their usages. They were even educated about
when and where the letter needs to be posted.
“Knowledge out of hobby”, was the theme used.
Mr. Irfan, an official from the post office was
invited to educate children about the history and
the need to collect stamps as a hobby. Students
from Classes III to IX found the session, very
interactive and informative.

Intra Competition Classes 1 To 9

The competitions varied from collecting pictures
of different types of post cards and pasting them
in chart; Collecting stamps of different types
and writing or speaking two or five sentences
about each stamp; writing the history or usage
of each stamp; Essay writing on the topic “Stamp
Collection as a Hobby”.

CLUB ACTIVITY - CREATIVE ART – July

“Every artist was first an amateur”
And to give our budding artists a chance to take
wings, this month theme was “Creative Art”
Children were given an introduction about
Creative Art Club and the various varieties of
creative art through videos and PPT. The topics
ranged from Clay moulding, making Face-mask,
Popsicle art, Pop-up greeting cards, pot painting,
face painting, Tattoo and Nail art, Mehendi,
Rangoli, and T-Shirt painting/designing.

CLUB ACTIVITY - DRAMA CLUB SPOTLIGHT - AUGUST

Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children.
The books they read and the characters that they get to know can become
friends. Reading also helps children with their confidence levels, coping with
feelings, and improves in learning language.
 
The Dramatic Club encourages dramatic presentations by students in the
form of skits, mime, plays etc. It is an opportunity for students to explore
all areas of performing a skit – which includes reading of the story, writing
script, delegating roles to the group, practice and finally the performance. The
Drama Club is dedicated to bringing the joy and power of Drama to students
by providing good stories at the beginner and intermediate levels. It pledges
to offer participants the chance to experience the excitement and rewards
of theatre arts while developing poise, social skills, confidence, creativity,
communication skills and the ability to work with others. 
 
Before the final week the students were introduced to the Drama club, videos
of the stories to be enacted were shown, texts for the stories were handed
out, students were given ample time to practice and finally they were fully
prepared when the D – Day arrived. Each class were allotted stories for
specific houses.

Intra Competition Classes I To 9 - 29.08.2019

Classes I and II had story narration. The students had the teachers
stupefied by their narrative skills. It was a great dilemma in choosing the
winner. Drama is an art of expression. What more can really keep a youngster
captivated than a humorous story with a moral? While students of Class III
enacted stories from Tenali Rama it was from the popular stories from Akbar
and Birbal which got the students from Class IV at their best. Children have
always been enchanted by our epics. The small episodes taken from these
always captivate their imagination. Students from Classes V and VI were
lucky to have enacted a few stories from Ramayana and Mahabharatha
respectively. Students of classes VII to IX were given plays written by the
great William Shakespeare.

CLUB ACTIVITY - HOBBY CLUB - October

October - Intra Club centered on our School
Magazine – “Kaleidoscope”. It is published at
the end of every academic year to develop and
cultivate in students the literary tastes and study
habits. San Academy provides a lot of opportunities
to the students for self-expression in written form.
Therefore topics were given to each class so that
every child has the prospect of submitting an article
to have a chance of it being published.

CLUB ACTIVITY - WATER CONSERVATION - November

Sowing the seeds of water conservation, Classes I, II and III students were first introduced to ‘Water
Conservation’. They learnt the importance of using water wisely as it is an essential asset for survival. They were told
to reduce unnecessary water wastage and were taught various methods to conserve water. Videos on “Save Water’
was also shown and the explanations were patiently given. The speaking competition was conducted house-wise
on the topic ‘How to conserve water’ for class I and ‘Water Conservation at Home’ for Class II. The judging criteria
were vocabulary usage, concept, clarity and confidence. The students of both the classes came up with astounding
speeches. Class III moved on to creativity in the final week. They took part in LOGO Contest with the topic ‘Water
Conservation – Every Drop Matters’ and they came up with some mind-boggling logos. They were judged according
to the adherence of the theme, picture clarity, concept and creativity.
The first couple of weeks were almost the same for classes IV – IX too, with the exception of discussions.
Each class discussed about their respected topics. Students of Class IV were taken to the computer lab to prepare
at least 4 sides on their topic. Their creativity in slide presentation was well appreciated. They were judged on the
basis of adherence to the theme, creativity, presentation and the usage of PPT icons. Class V prepared a newspaper
collage on the topic ‘Water is life’. A lot of effort was put in by the students to put forth their ideas on chart. Strong
messages were conveyed by the students of Class VI when they prepared the posters on “Life without Water”. They
had definitely put on their thinking caps to bring out such a professional looking end-result.
Classes VII to IX had done an extensive survey and browsed thoroughly on their topic to make their Intra-
competition an enjoyable and educating fare. Class VII took part in Elocution on ‘Waste Water Treatment’. Classes
VIII and IX took part in Essay competition. While the topic for former was ‘Strategies for conserving water’, the
latter wrote on the topic ‘Jal Shakthi Abhiyan’. All these classes were also judged on the vocabulary usage, grammar
and content. At the end of the month, the students were provided the exposure on the gravity of water resources
depletion, water pollution and its impact and the importance of afforestation, rain water harvesting, conservation
and efficient usage of water.

Intra Competition Classes I To 9 - Christmas Bash 12.12.2019

This month’s Intra competition was a group activity. With Christmas round the
corner, students’ enthusiasm and seasonal craft activities were tested when
they were given the opportunity to decorate their classrooms depicting the
theme. Each class was assigned a color. The class teachers were the mentors
instead of the club teachers. The judgment criteria were presentation,
creativity and materials used. Out came the foam sheets, streamers, foil
paper, scissors and glue sticks churning out different articles of the desired
colors. The students had inspiring ideas and engaged themselves in planning
and execution of their thoughts. Christmas trees, snowman, reindeer,
wreath, stars, gifts….. nothing was left out. The day started with excitement
and students returned home with contentment in their heart as every class
had been presented in a very tasteful manner.

Intra Competition Classes I To 9 - Solve the Word Puzzle 27.02.2020

Crosswords are a great traditional puzzle guaranteed to get the kids thinking.
It was decided to have this activity as the theme for this month’s Intra
competitions. Each class had diverse topics which was age appropriate. Class
1 and 2 had the topics ‘Transport’ and Animals respectively. Students of
classes 3 and 4 did just that when they solved the puzzles related to Birthday
Party and Beach respectively. We had the students of Class 5 solving the
puzzles related to Aquatic animals. We can identify the different emotions
felt by us and that is what precisely class 6 students had done. ‘Grammar’
comes in, and this was the theme for classes 8 and 9. By the end of the day
the students realized that crossword puzzle is a fun activity that sharpens our
brain and activates the cells resulting in a better brain functioning.
