Colonel of The Sikh Regiment It gives me immense pleasure, pride and

satisfaction in presenting to you the 2020 Edition

Chairman of The Sikh.

Brig M Sri Kumar, SC Evolution and change are inevitable. The past
Commandant one year has been one to remember with

multifarious activities. This year the response from

unit in terms of article contributions was

MESSAGE FROM THE COLONEL OF
THE SIKH REGIMENT

Dear Readers,

I am deeply conscious of the privilege afforded to me, to connect with you all
through ‘The SIKH 2020’.

At the very outset, I pay homage to the supreme sacrifice of our
BRAVEHEARTS. Due to the prevalent global pandemic situation, we were unable
to connect with our veterans traditionally on ‘Baisakhi’ and ‘Saragarhi Day’. The
situation has adversely affected our fraternity and we ended up loosing many War
Heroes and cicerones of our Regiment. I pay my heartfelt condolences to the
bereaved families.

The year 2020, had begun with 17 SIKH, being conferred with the
GOC-in-C (Eastern Command) Unit Appreciation. I am sanguine that on Army
Day & Republic Day 2021, the lists of recipients are going to be longer. This year
has been remarkable for the Regiment as Maj Gen PC Nair, AVSM, YSM and Maj
Gen Rajinder Dewan, AVSM, VSM got approved for the ‘Three Star’ rank and Brig
Ravindra Singh, SM** promoted to the rank of Maj Gen. Regiment feels proud and
stronger to get five serving Generals.

12 Squadron AF have celebrated their Platinum Jubilee (75th) year of Raising
at Agra. Though due to prevalent situations, the participation and representation
from the Regiment was symbolic, we wish Heartiest Congratulations to the affiliated
Squadron and wish them glory in times to come. In 2021, we are going to observe
the 175th year of Founding of our Regiment. We expect that the Regimental Spirit
will certainly get a boost while celebrating 175 glorious years of the Regiment.

In the end, I, on behalf of the Regimental Family, thank everyone for their
valuable contribution towards the ‘The SIKH 2020’ and congratulate the editorial
board. Wishing everyone a safe and prosperous new Year.

MESSAGE FROM COMMANDANT’S DESK

It is a singular honour and a matter of pride for me to assume command of The
Sikh Regimental Centre. The concerted efforts of all my illustrious predecessors is
mirrored in the aura reflected by the Regimental Centre.

With another year gone by, the Regiment has made tremendous progress in all
spheres of activities. The training activity in the centre has been more purposeful,
dynamic and fully geared up to meet the challenges imposed due to the outbreak of
COVID-19 global pandemic. In our own way we have ensured professionalism and
gone about the job at hand with a purpose. In the sports area our Boxers, Rowers,
Shooters and Athletes have done the Regiment proud. Efforts are on to regain the
pristine glory in the field of sports with little but purposeful strides in the appropriate
directions.

Our Battalions have performed exceptionally well in respective formations along
the LC, LAC and Counter Insurgency operations. The SIKHs have always proved
their mettle and have reinforced the faith that the Nation has on us. It is gratifying to
note that the Regiment is performing well in all spheres and is well on course as
envisaged by our veterans.

I would like to place on record our gratitude to all our well wishers who have
made things easier for us in the Centre with their keen interest in the Regimental
affairs. We always look forward to benefit from them through their wisdom and
encouragement. My sincere appreciation to all veterans who penned down their
thoughts and shared it for all of us to read in this edition of SIKH 2020. We extend
our best wishes to all members of the SIKH family and wish them a very happy and
prosperous New year.
