The year 2020 has been very active and eventful with Centre being the hub of
Regimental activities and the Regimental units growing from strength to strength
in all spheres. While laying stress on the primary function of imparting traning to
the recruits whose numbers exceeds the designated capacity of the Centre, the
regimental alma mater, has constantly strived to add to the existing assets and
has given impetus to improve the quality of life by initiating numerous welfare
measures. The year also witnessed the outbreak of corona pandemic, where in
BRIG M SRI the centre took all measures to combat the pandemic and contain its spread. SUB MAJ
KUMAR, SC The restraint exercised by the personnel, guided by cautious and meticulous MANSA SINGH
approach resulted in unhindered trg and functioning of the centre.
Change of Colonel’s Baton.
With Lt Gen SK Jha PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM proceeding on retirement on 31 Jan 2020, the Baton of Colonel of
the Regiment has been taken over by Lt Gen PGK Menon, AVSM in a simple ceremony held at Manekshaw
Centre, Delhi Cantt on 10 Jan 2020.
Farewell visit of Lt Gen SK Jha PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM.
Lt Gen SK Jha PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM visited the Centre from 02 Jan to 04 Jan 2020 before his retirement. He
paid his tribute to Regimental martyrs at the Regimental War Memorial. During the visit he took blessings from
WAHEGURU at the regimental gurudwara and also addressed the tps in special sainik sammelan. After a
glorious service of 39 years in the Sikh Regiment, he bid adieu to the centre. It was a touching farewell to the
General when the entire centre lined up on the both sides of the road from Main Office Complex to War
Memorial, the officers and JCOs pulling the open gypsy with the band playing the farewell tunes.

Change of the Stewardship. After the successful tenure of three years (Jan 2017 to Jan 2020) as the
Centre Commandant Brig Rakesh Raina, VSM superannuated on 31 Jan 20 and the baton was taken over by
Brig M Sri Kumar, SC. The complete regimental family wishes Brig Rakesh Raina, VSM and family , the very
best of everything good in life.

38th Battalion commander Biennial Conference. The 38th Battalion commander conf was held at the
Centre from 31 Oct to 02 Nov 2019. Lt Gen S K Jha PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, Col of the Sikh Regiment
reviewed the passing out parade of 92 course and also presided over the conference. During the period of the
conference the newly constructed Sikh Regiment archives was also inaugurated by the Col of the Regiment on
01 Nov 2020. The Conference provided an excellent opportunity to all Commanding Officers to interact and get
to know each other better.

New Colonel of Regiment Pays his VIsit to the Centre. After taking over the Colonelcy of the Regiment Lt
Gen PGK Menon, AVSM visited the Centre from 27 Sep to 29 Sep 2020. He paid his tribute to the Regimental
war heroes by laying a wreath at the Regimental War Memorial followed by prayers in the Regimental
Gurudwara Sahib. The visit afforded him an opportunity to meet all ranks and enquire into their well being and
also gave an insight into the trg of rects and functioning of the Regimental Centre. He left the centre on 29 Sep
2020 more than satisfied and reassured.
Recruitment. The Centre has been engaged in selecting, recruiting, training and also dispatching young
soldiers to make up to deficiency of the Battalions. Recruitment Rallies were organized in the Centre in the
month of Mar & Dec 2020. The emphasis was to select the candidates with good height and bearing, besides
the talent in sports.

Training. It has been our constant Endeavour to impart meaningful trg to recruits. Particular emphasis has been
laid to impress the physical standards, firing and generate interest in sports amongst the recruits. Added impetus
was given to improve the overall standard of training to the recruits.

the rects. certain new clubs categorized as Sports, Personality devp trg were instituted. These clubs apart from

Appointment system A concept has been introduced wherein recruits are delegated powers, as per their
appointments, with an aim to inspire personal pursuit of excellence.
Computer Training Lab To enhance the existing IT infrastructure of the Centre and to empower the trainees
and pensioners with IT knowledge, a computer training lab has been set up. The lab is equipped with 20
Desktop Computers along with state of the art server with the future capacity to extend upto 40 computer
stations. The lab will also be utilized as a language training lab which will aid in learning various languages
through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) platforms.
CBT Auditorium To impart the training to recruits through various computer based packages, a CBT
Auditorium with capacity of 150 persons has been constructed and is ready for utilization . The project was
constructed under AMWP for the Yr 2015-16 with total cost of Rs 02 Crore 24 Lakhs. Besides this, recruits are
making extensive use of training aids for a better grasp of skills and understanding.

Rowing Sub Sawarn Singh participated in 38th National Rowing championship at Hyderabad and won two
Gold medals in Double Scull.
Athletics
Hav Man Singh participated in 59th National Open Athletics championship at Ranchi (Oct 2019)
and secured 3rd Posn & participated in Airtel Delhi half Marathon at Delhi (Oct 19 and overall 4th in
the marathon and won cash prize of Rs 70,000/-).
13th South Asian Games Athletics championship was held at Kathmandu wef 03 Dec to 08 Dec
19. Hav Rajpal Singh won Silver medal in 42 km Marathon.
Hav Man Singh (21 Sikh) participated in (21km) Bajaj Allianz Half marathon held at Pune on 22
Dec 19 & secured 2nd posn & cash prize of Rs 50000/-).
SRC Athletic team participated in the MB Area Athletic trials held at Jabalpur wef 19 Dec to 21
Dec 2019. Total nine teams participated in the trials & SRC team clinched overall 1st posn with 10
Gold, 06 Silver & 05 Bronze medals. 22 athletes of our centre have been selected for the MB Area
athletics team.
Hav Man Singh participated in International Tata Half marathon 21 km held at Mumbai wef 19
Jan 2020 & won Silver medal
Central Comd Athletics trials was held at 1 STC Jabalpur wef 17-18 Jan 2020. Our athletes
participated in various events and won 03 Gold, 02 Bronze & 06 Silver medals.

SRC Basketball team won MB area Basketball championship held at SRC wef 12 to 16 Dec 2019. All players of
our centre have been selected to represent MB Area team in Central Comd trials held at wef 03-05 Jan 2020.
Football
SRC Football team participated in the '42nd Akhil Bharti Mohan Kumar Manglam (MKM)
Football tournament' held at Udaipur (Raj) wef 24 Jan to 02 Feb 20. Total 12 teams participated in the
tournament. SRC football team was declared winner of the tournament with 1.5 Lac cash prize.
SRC Hockey stood runners up in all India Hockey tournament held at Ludhiana wef 12-15 Nov
19. 16 teams from all over Punjab participated in the championship.
Karate
Central Comd Karate trials 2019 held wef 07 Nov to 09 Nov 19 at Kumaon Regimental Centre,
Ranikhet. SRC karate team clinched 02 Gold and 04 Silver medals and was decl overall 1st in the
trials. The team has been selected for Army trials.
Our Karate team participated in Jharkhand State Sub Junior & Senior Karate championship 2020
and won one Gold, one Silver & two Bronze medals.

Golf Sep Darshan Singh (4 SIKH) participated in Central Comd Golf trials held at Jabalpur in Nov 2019 & was
adjudged best Golfer during the trials & also participated in army trials.
Tennis Sep Simranjeet Singh (8 SIKH) the Sikh Regimental Centre participated in Lawn Tennis Central comd
trials held at Jabalpur wef 14-16 Jan 2020 & was adjudged best player during the trials & also participated in
Army Inter Comd Lawn Tennis championship 2020-21 held at Jabalpur wef 05 Feb to 07 Feb 20 and bagged
Silver medal in the championship. Central Comd stood overall 2nd posn in the championship.
Welfare Activities Undertaken During the Period .
A club with recreational and dining facility has been est for troops and families as a welfare measure to promote
social activities and incr interaction among families. Apart from this LED TVs, carom boards and electrical
display boards to pass necy instrs and routine orders were added to the existing facilities. In addn to this, desert
coolers for dining hall, Hamams for provision of hot water to troops during winter and road barriers for traffic
regulation were also installed.

The event witnessed a good participation from kids.
A summer Camp was org in the Centre from 22 Jun to 27 Jun 2020 for the children with an aim to inculcate the
spirit of adventure, enhance awareness of social resp and devp self control, team spirit & good habits. The camp
included various outdoor activities like Rifle firing, 10 Km cycling, obst course, Tennis, Basketball, painting and
treasure hunt.
