ARTICLE ON PHYSICAL FITNESS

Yoga, the oldest science of life, teaches us how to work, rest, relax and breathe to maintain good health
and mental capacities. Yogic asana and postures help us lubricate the body-machine, keep the muscles
and joints running smoothly, tone all the internal organs and increase blood circulation without causing
any fatigue. Our body is like a perfect and subtle machine that needs proper maintenance, care and
running. Anyone can practice Yoga and maintain his health and peace of mind. People who do not take
regular exercise or do Yogic postures easily fall sick. Many of our modern diseases like obesity,
diabetes, high blood-pressure, mental tension, rheumatism, piles etc., have their roots in our lethargy,
comfortable living, ease and convenience of life. They can be very easily checked and eliminated by
taking daily physical exercises. Lethargy and inactivity, coupled with easy living, make our body an easy
victim of diseases.
From a very young age the boys and girls should be properly trained in physical fitness and exercises.
They should be helped to cultivate and develop athletic habits. It may be repeated once again that
physical fitness is imperative and should not be neglected. It is high time that we pay more attention and
use greater resources to develop and promote national physical standards. We should create a
harmonious atmosphere where the body is given no less importance than the mind, because without
physical powers, there cannot be any mental power. Physical exercise, taken regularly, works like a
wonderful tonic both for mind and body. But there should be moderation and there should not be too
much of it. Neglect of exercise is as bad and injurious as the overdose of it.

CELEBRATE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Ex. President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam Says: “When I was a kid, my mom cooked food for us. One
night she had made dinner after a long hard day's work, and placed a plate of 'sabzi' and extremely
burnt roti in front of my dad.
I was waiting to see if anyone noticed the burnt roti. But dad just ate the roti and asked me how was my
day at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember that I heard mom
apologizing to dad for the burnt roti. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burnt roti."
Later that night, I went to kiss good night to dad & I asked him if he really liked burnt rotis. He hugged
me in his arms & said: "Your mom had put in a long hard day at work today and she was really tired.
And besides... A BURNT ROTI NEVER HURTS ANYONE BUT HARSH WORDS DO!
You know son – the life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people.
I'm not the best & I have learnt to accept that life is not perfect and nor are people near & dear to you.
What I've learnt over the years is: To Accept Each Other’s Faults & Choose to Celebrate
Relationships".

CORONA VIRUS

Corona Virus is a group of viruses that usually cause mild illnesses, such as the common cold.
Covid-19 first emerged in Wuhan, China in late 2019. The outbreak has since then spread across
China to other countries around the world. The most commonly reported symptoms include fever, dry
cough, tiredness and in mild cases people first get a runny nose or a sore throat. In the most severe
cases, people with the virus can develop difficulty in breathing and may ultimately experience organ
failure. Corona virus replicate their RNA genomes using enzymes called RNA-Dependent.

There are currently no vaccines or specific drug treatments for corona virus but efforts to develop a
vaccine are underway and HIV and ABOLA Drugs are being tested in people with COVID-19. On 18
March, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that they began a trial of the most promising drugs
like Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine, a new antiviral drug called Remdesivir and a combination of
two HIV Drugs called Lopinavir and Ritonavir. The HIV drugs will also be tested in combination with an
antiviral call interferon beta.

On 22 March, several countries in Europe, including the UK, launched a collaborative trail of the
same drugs, which will complement the WHO effect. Many other treatments are also being explored,
predominantly the possibility of developing antibodies against COVID-19.

RAISING OF A NEW EXTENDED FAMILY
MAKING MEMORIES AND
CREATING HISTORY

One feels proud to the part of our ARMY Fraternity…..and so does I. My association with this
organization is 16 years old. My husband’s parent unit is one of the oldest battalions of SIKH
REGIMENT -“3 SIKH”. After being part of his parent unit for 15 years, we moved to the unit which was
to be raised on 01 July 2017.

The happiness and excitement was no less than the birth of a baby…..and then the day arrived
when we were declared to be born! - yes that is into 24th Battalion of the SIKH REGIMENT .

Our battalion was raised at the Sikh Regt Centre, Ramgarh Cantt. The initial period was difficult and
challenging as we were mostly unfamiliar with each other and coming from different environments.
However, with every passing day, all ranks of the unit exhibited tremendous zeal and enthusiasm to
enable the unit grow from strength to strength into a closely knit team, determined to carve out a niche
for itself. From establishing unit TARTEEB, setting drills and procedures for each and everything,
setting up training and sports infrastructure and office functioning to conducting extensive interviews of
each and every individual at all levels, the level of participation and dedication from everyone was
commendable and more often infectious.
TOGETHER WE RAISED

TOGETHER WE RAISED

The most important task for us was to keep all the members of the team together. Keeping all the
traditions of Sikh Regiment in mind we started setting the traditions and drills to be followed by all the
members of new team. We made sure to keep everyone actively involved during all the planning. As
time passed, we all became one with a common mindset. To hold each other’s hands tightly and
walking together was a great journey. We made sure to make memories with each passing event
together and cherish them all.

Being the part of the raising of our unit and history, I felt immensely proud and blessed. And now I
am a proud member of the two extended families. Experience of being the part of both the units
seemed like we were the babies of one and nurturer of other.

The journey of raising was actually like watching one’s babies flourishing beautifully and we shall
always cherish the memories. It is indeed a privilege and a matter of pride to be the part of the history
of the raising of the Battalion.

While walking down in the memory lane…
While passing time and again…
History creates its own name-

THE WOMEN WE HAVE BECOME

Just as she carried the pain
And all her stifled words

She felt like she never did before
And thought this was all a curse.

But little did she know
This was nothing like a curse
But the supremacy of the patriarchal society
That's been suppressing her for years.

She wasn't the first one
To be victimized by this regimen
The same was foreseen by generations before
And by everyone who was feminine.

No one spoke out against it
No one took a stand

Because only men were outspoken
Back then in that land.

The condition still prevails
But women now demand
For equal rights and opportunities
And for the patriarchy to be banned

They now speak out
And well, they protest
Because until there is emancipation
Their voices will not rest.

SAVE WATER

Introduction.

1. Earth is the only known planet in this universe where life is possible only because of the availability
of water and oxygen. Water is the most important necessity of life for all the living beings on the earth.
Without water no one can exist even for a day. We also know that there is very less percentage of
clean water. Though three fourth part of the earth is water yet only 2% of the clean water is available
for us. Despite itself being tasteless, odorless and colorless, it adds taste, color and nice smell in the
earth. It takes nothing from us but gives life to us. So, we should not waste clean water and save it for
our future generations. We should alter bad habits into positive ones and spread awareness among
people about the importance of clean water.

Importance of Clean Water.

2. 71% of the earth surface is covered with water. It is vital to all forms of live found on the earth. We
can find it below the ground, in the oceans, large water bodies and small water reservoirs. We can also
find water in many forms like: - Vapor, Cloud, Surface water, Glaciers, Precipitation, Polar ice caps etc.
Water scarcity is the lack of access to the safe water. Slowly it is being hard to manage the quality of
water for the people who lack it. It is a big issue for many countries worldwide. People having sufficient
water do not understand the importance of water and they waste a lot water on daily basis in many
unnecessary activities.

3. We all know that around 2 or less percent of water is fresh water on the earth that we are able to
drink. Most of the water is locked up in glaciers, snow ice and others are in the form of open source.
There are different ways to save the water on daily basis. Water saving can be done through water
conservation methods. Water saving and protecting it from being dirty has been every necessary to
meet current and future demands. Water demand will increase in future; it should be saved to ensure
its availability for future.

Conclusion.

4. Water saving technique should be promoted among people living in the societies, communities,
villages including business section as they are the main water users in a rough manner. Farmers,
children and women should be taught properly about how to save and use water in an efficient manner.
They must understand the value of water in their life. Clean water scarcity is not a problem in one
country or other, it is a global issue which needs to be solved internationally by increasing awareness
about it among people worldwide.

COMMAND IN COVID-19

The COVID-19 virus has fundamentally changed virtually every aspect of Indian life, and military units
are struggling to come into grips about what this means for their operations. Like many other Indians,
Military members and families are concerned about how this virus will affects their lives. Now, more than
ever, leadership plays a critical role in ensuring the continued functioning of every military aspect. The
real struggle lies in tailoring your response fit for the continued situation i.e Commanding during a crisis
which becomes a life time opportunity to rise to the occasion and lead through the storm. Units, their
members and families need a strong hand leading the way through the crisis.

As it is stated that “In the midst of a chaos there is always an opportunity”, the opportunity is for the
commanders to guide their organization through the crisis and the chaos is the pandemic. There is no
SOP on how to command at a time of COVID-19. Therefore, each commander must evaluate his/her
own organisation, the circumstances they find themselves in, and how they can tailor a response to this
unique situation. The commander must be visible, transparent and honest. Secondly, he needs to
communicate the plans effectively for responding through the crisis and he must lead the fight. Thirdly,
he must focus on keeping the organisation connected during this incredibly difficult time. By using these
tools can a commander set the tone for the organisation, structure a coherent response, alleviate some
of the fear of the unknown and thus lead a proactive and productive approach to counter the physical
and mental impacts of this virus.

EFFECT OF SOCIAL MEDIA
IN ARMED FORCES

Social media has increasingly become a communication channel, not only in civil but also in military
sector. It can be used for entertainment and to be in contact regularly with family, friends and other
relatives. But social media also carry risk in the terms of cyber security lapses. Due to social media
crime, there is a security impact on the technologies/ military sector. The digital technology often
rapidly puts adverse impacts on operations and security. Social media can cause anxiety/ and stress
for Army personnel and their families. Many of the cases have come in front of the Army HQ related to
Army personnel who were caught because they were in contact with honey traps of Pakistan and they
were blackmailed by the PIOs who forced them to share the security of Indian Army. Social Media is
also helpful for the veterans to remain in contact. But it also has a harmful effect related to security.
Moreover, social media is also a wastage of time and energy. There are not as many good things in
social media as compared to the bad things which are more and divert the mind of a soldier due to
which he cannot concentrate or complete the task which is given to him. Discipline can only be
maintained if there is difference between junior and senior. A policy was recently made by the Army HQ
to make Army personnel more aware about not to use certain sites on social media and to delete
facebook and other related accounts. The order is strictly followed by the Armed forces.

GUIDE FOR BEING A SUCCESSFUL HUSBAND

Women are an enigma and it takes years to understand them and yet one feels that he still don’t
understand them. For all those husbands who are at wits end pacifying their nagging wives, here are a
few guru mantra to satisfy their wives as being completely devoted and still be foot loose and fancy free
with their life!!

Whenever you want to hide something say “IT'S A GUY THING"
Means: "You women never understand, it's just fun. There is no rational thought or pattern connected
with it, and you have no chance at all of making it logical".

When you are hungry say "CAN I HELP WITH DINNER?"
Means: "Why isn't it already on the table?"

When you feel your wife is eating your brains off say "UH HUH," "SURE, HONEY," OR "YES, DEAR..."
Means: Absolutely nothing. It's a conditioned response. If anything, it means; "I haven't heard what you
said.“

When you blow up money on yourself without your wife’s consent and later want to avoid her wrath "IT
WOULD TAKE TOO LONG TO EXPLAIN"
Means: "I had no inkling that you will come to know."

"I WAS LISTENING TO YOU. IT'S JUST THAT I HAVE THINGS ON MY MIND."
Means: "I was checking out that redhead over there."

When the maid does not turn up and you are in no mood to chip in "TAKE A BREAK HONEY, YOU'RE

WORKING TOO HARD".

Means: "I can't hear the game over the vacuum cleaner."

When she talks continuously non stop "THAT'S INTERESTING, DEAR."
Means: "Are you still talking?"

When you forget her birthday "YOU KNOW HOW BAD MY MEMORY IS."
Means: "I remember the address of the first girl I ever kissed, and the vehicle identification numbers of
every car I've ever owned, but sorry, I forgot your birthday."

When she is annoyed with you try this "I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT YOU, AND GOT YOU THESE
ROSES".
Means: "The girl selling them on the corner was a real babe."

When you ignored her say "I HEARD YOU."
Means: "I haven't the foggiest clue what you just said, and am hoping desperately that I can fake it well
enough so that you don't spend the next 3 days yelling at me."

In order to prove your love time and again say "YOU KNOW I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE."
Means: "I am used to the way you yell at me, and realize it could be worse."

When out for shopping, do this at the first instance "YOU LOOK TERRIFIC."
Means: "Please stop trying on any more dresses, I'm starving."

When she cribs about not sharing responsibilities at home, say "WE SHARE THE HOUSEWORK."
Means: "I make the messes, and you clean them up."

GOVT PROJECTS FOR ENCOURAGING WOMEN EMOPOWERMENT

INTRODUCTION

1. Women empowerment refers to increasing the spiritual, political, social, educational,
gender or economic strength of individuals and communities of women. Women are an integral part of every
economy. All round development and harmonious growth of a nation would be possible only when women
are considered as equal partners in progress with men. Women’s empowerment in India is heavily
dependent on many different variables that include geographical location (urban / rural) educational status
social status (caste and class) and age. Policies on Women’s empowerment exist at the national, state and
local (Panchayat) levels in many sectors, including health, education, economic opportunities, gender based
violence and political participation. Women empowerment enables autonomy and control over their lives.

WHY NEED OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

2. The status of women in India particularly in rural areas needs to address the issue of
empowering women. About 66% of the female population in rural area is unutilized. This is mainly due to
existing social customs. In agriculture and Animal care the women contribute 90% of the total workforce.
Women constitute almost half of the population, perform nearly 2/3 of its work hours, receive 1/10th of the
world’s income and own less than 1/ 100th the world property. In the past “Vedas Purana” of Indian culture,
women were being worshiped such as LAXMI MAA, goddess of wealth; SARSWATI MAA, for wisdom;
DURGA MAA for power. Among the world’s 900 million illiterate people, 70% of people living in poverty are
women. Lower sex ratio i.e. 933, only 10% seats in World Parliament and 6% in National Cabinet are held
by women. The existing studies show that the women are relatively less healthy than men though belong to
same class. They constitute less than 1/7th of the administrators and mangers in developing countries.
Young girls are considered as a big burden in the family. Rape cases are increasing in the modern times
which force us to take an initiative about the security of the female population.

WAYS TO EMPOWER WOMEN

3. Women’s may be empowered through following ways:-

(a) Providing education in every field.

(b) Change in women’s control over Decision making.

(c) Providing women police stations for their complaints.

(d) Changes in women’s mobility and social interaction.

(e) Providing separate hospitals for their checkup.

(f) Changes in women’s labour patterns.

(g) Providing separate schools/colleges for their safety.

(h) Providing equal rights.

(j) Providing separate transport system.

(k) Changes in women’s access to and control over resources.

113 THE SIKH 2020

(l) Self employment and self help group.
(m) Providing equal property rights.
(n) Providing minimum needs like Nutrition, Health, Sanitation and Housing.
(o) Providing equal opportunity in sports and other activities.
(p) Other than this society should change the mentality towards the word women.
(q) Encouraging women to develop in their fields they are good at and make a career.

GOVERNMENT SCHEMES FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

4. Government of India implemented various poverty alleviation and rural development
programs. These programs have special components for women empowerment. At present, the
Government of India has over 37 schemes for women operated by different department and ministries. The
implementation of these programs/schemes is monitored specifically with reference to coverage of women.
Some of these are as follows:-
(a) Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
(b) MahilaSamakhya being implemented in about 9000 villages.
(c) (Aajeevika) and the Indira AwaasYojana (IAY).

CONCLUSION

5. Government of India took so many initiatives to empower the women in India. But women
are discriminated and marginalized at every level of the society whether it is social participation, political
participation, economic participation, access to education, and also reproductive healthcare. Women are
found to be economically very poor all over the India. A few women are engaged in services and other
activities. So, they need an equal economic power to stand side by side to the men.

ARTICLE ON PHYSICAL FITNESS

Health goes far, even farther than wealth and any other thing in life. It is a sure key to success. This
underline a vital fact of life. Without good health, nothing is of much use. If any sensible person is asked
about what he would prefer- health or wealth. He would immediately answer- ‘health’. Without good health
and physical fitness life would become a burden and a tasteless thing. Those who are sick, ill or weak in
health are found dejected, nervous, hopeless and without any zest for life and its activities. He who has
health and a fit body has hope, inspiration and so everything in life.

Without physical fitness and good health nothing good or substantial can be achieved. Only the healthy
citizens, and men and women make a healthy and happy nation. Only healthy people can work hopefully,
steadily, constantly and at peace. Healthy people can work hopefully, steadily, constantly and at their best,
to achieve better and better results. Again, it is only a healthy man or woman who can desire and strive for
perfection. Weak men can never make good citizens, leaders, businessmen, soldiers or a brave people.

Healthy minds reside in healthy bodies. Men and women indifferent to their health cannot neither be
intelligent nor make good artists, poets, public servants and useful members of the society. Most of the
great and successful men and women owe their success to their outdoor physical activities, playing habits
and exercise in their youth. Their athletic habits, cultivated in their youth, always stood them in good stead
later in life. Consequently, they always possessed sound health and mind, leading them to the crowning
glory. Their mental vigour, exuberance of thoughts, vivacity and enthusiasm for work came from their
robust health, and physical fitness, which they obtained through regular exercise, game and sports, long
walks, swimming, horse-riding, yogic postures and such other activities. The way to health, happiness and
success lies through physical work, exercise and robustness.

Therefore, look to your health, if you have it; praise your luck and stars. If you do not have it, then ponder
over your life-style and try to develop athletic habits. Go to your garden, grasp a spade and engage
yourself in digging or wood-cutting. Run a mile early in the morning, play some game like football, volley
ball or badminton, and you will soon regain your health and energy. And these in their turn will fill your life
with a new hope and meaningfulness. Every man and woman should undertake some physical work or
exercise regularly. It is the sound body that brings sound mind with it. It was in the playgrounds of Eton
school that the battle of Water-loo was actually won and Napoleon defeated.

The toughness acquired in the school playground was turned to good account in the battlefield. It is such
physical activities as wrestling, boating, cricketing, sporting, and playing games and exercise which
promote national health and strength. The player or a sports-person who would win races honourably must
have an honourable and successful career.

To do one’s work cheerfully and well. Every man and woman should possess a good constitution, and this
can only be got by daily exercise in the open air. Physical education should be an integral part of education
and training in our schools, colleges and universities. Physical fitness is a must for everybody. It is in the
very young age that athletic habits and love for physical work and exercise should be developed. The best
time to have physical exercise is early in the morning and late in the evening. It is heartening to note that
yogic exercises, postures etc., have been introduced in our schools and colleges. Through yogic exercises
we can develop both our minds and bodies. These exercises are very scientific and time- tested and goes
a long way in facing and eliminating stresses, tensions and worries of modern materialistic life.

POPULATION EXPLOSION

Population of any country is the life of that country, but when it crosses limit it becomes nuisance. When
the population of a nation increases without any limit causeing unceasing problems,it is called population
explosion.
India is also suffering from this one of the biggest problems of the world. It is well said that big population is
the mother of all the prevailling problems in India. The problems caused by it are extrme poverty,
unemloyment, shortage of land and food, pollution and so on. The biggest of all these is poverty.
At present the population of India is more than 134 crore with the second world rank after China. This
population constitutes around 18% of the total population of the world. Often many states carry the
population larger than that of any other big country of the world.
Due to the steep rise in population, there is the shortage of houses, food, jobs and everything and as a
result more than half of the population is poor. They don’t have two square meals of the day not to speak of
other facilities.
In some countries like Japan the big population has become boon with most of the skilled people being
there. But in India we have unskilled poor people. They don’t know how to earn their livelihood.

BRIGHTER SIDE OF COVID-19

1. It is astounding to learn, how few people matter in our lives. We tend to get so tied up in knots with our
daily work schedules, gym, party routines and trying to make ourselves look “good” for others. As a result,
we ignore the people who matter to us and whom we should care about. Be it the elderly in our family,
spouse, children, close friends and even those with whom you have spent precious times. We are so busy
chasing a future that we have forgotten how to live and enjoy the present. We are so filled with greed and
unfulfilled desires that we forget to count our blessings. Most of us have big egos and a false sense of pride
and self-importance that we forget how to respect human beings and empathise with their suffering. If there
is one thing my late mother taught me, it is compassion for others to do your deed or service without
expecting anything in return.

2. Today, I know people who are more concerned about providing stray dogs with food and shelter rather
than looking at the effect the coronavirus has had on human lives. While by all means our priority today
should be protecting ourselves and our family members, but we should also extend a helping hand to
elders, friends and loved ones we have lost touch with, and have a conversation with them. There are many
charity funds and NGOs we can donate to so that they can take care of street children, stranded migrant
labourers and homeless people. But, do donate your money wisely. We have an opportunity to spend more
time with family and cherish time with them. Let's limit social circle accordingly and live life on our terms
without any care about how the world perceives. Time abundance allows do all the things we always
wanted to do.

3. My second important discovery has got to do with how we suffer from the syndrome of obsessive
consumerism. We may get over the virus over the next six months or so, but it is accepted that it may take
several years to recover from the economic fallout of this crisis. I don’t know how many of us realise how
deeply this is going to impact each one of us. We have two options; change our lifestyle that revolves
around obsessive consumerism or go down the spiral. It’s a no-brainer.

4. During the lockdown, I was pleasantly surprised to see how little we need to go on reasonably
comfortably with our daily lives. Be it cars, household stuff, gadgets, food supplies and toiletries. Not to
mention the array of expensive garments, shoes and other accessories we are constantly acquiring. And
yet, we never stop collecting more and more. We do this because we humans have tendency to show off to
the world how up-to-date, fashionable and wealthy we are. We must make a conscious effort to move
away from this negative pattern. We are living in times where we need to both “preserve” and “conserve”. I
have decided to reduce my financial burden to whatever extent possible. Perhaps, it’s time for all of us to
review the same.

5. Last, we all are thoroughly enjoying the clean air, crystal clear blue skies, the chirping of birds, the sight
of peacocks and squirrels. No traffic and no noise pollution with horns blaring and people shouting and
screaming at each other. After decades of hustle-bustle of life, we can take some time off in the evening to
enjoy the sounds of nature and the beauty that surrounds us.

6. It is like as if we were too tied up to our busy schedules and COVID-19 has come to give us a break
to take rest and reunite with ourselves once again. We are now turning to being human by contributing due
care to ourselves, our family, neighbourhood, city, country and environment as well. In short we are not
sanitizing and disinfecting ourselves but our thoughts and way of living which is a good start due to bad
VIRUS.

BOYCOTT CHINA

1. After the Galwan Valley Skirmish, the popular idea resonating in Indian streets is that Indians should
boycott Chinese goods and thus “teach China a lesson”. India is considering a range of economic measures
aimed at Chinese firms amid the border tensions. The make in India movement is again gaining popularity
in current scenario. The move to ban Chinese applications may be just the start. Many projects have started
terminating their contracts with the Chinese.

2. The Hindi-Chini buy buy.According to United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD) data for 2018, 15.3% India’s imports are from China and 5.1% of India’s exports go to China.
More importantly, China’s import from India are less than 1% of its total imports. One third of Machinery and
almost two-fifth of organic chemicals that India purchase from the world come from China. According to the
data India sources close to 90% of certain mobile phone parts from China. While India as a export market at
$15.5 billion, China is the third largest destination for Indian shipments. India’s main export to China are
Gems and Jewellery, minerals and ore, sea food etc. India exports mainly raw materials to China.

3. Can India Really Boycott Chinese Goods?Impractical, at best, Impossible, in reality. Even, If we
want to, it is nearly impossible to keep China out of our daily lives. There is a little bit of China in every
product we consume. Ironically, the laptops and mobiles phones we use to forward the messages to boycott
China goods are made in China itself. The modern day production process is complex and interconnected.
Take the mobile phones, it will have some rare earth elements from China, uses the labour and land from
China, has investment from US or an European Country, has entrepreneurship from Japan or Korea and it
finally, might use software made in India. No country is self sustained. Bar on Chinese products will hurt the
Indian poor the most. Because the poor are more prices sensitive. Also the Chinese products which are in
India are already paid for, by avoiding them, we will be hurting retailers. Moreover, If India and China stop
trading than China would lose only 3% of its exports and less than 1% of its imports. However, India will
lose 5% of its exports and 14% of its imports.

4. What can be done in this situation? The decision to boycott non-essential products made in
china can be left to the Individuals. However, trade related measures like rising duties on raw materials
imported from China would be better option than an outright embargo. Countries like US, Vietnam, Japan,
Mexico and certain European countries could be tapped as alternate import source. India need to
implement certain short to long term plans to reduce its dependence on China.

5. Conclusion. A complete ban on Chinese import as of now is both impractical and impossible.
However, we can reduce imports by make in India programme. We need to boost our manufacturing
industries also, we have to find alternate source for our imports. Slowly with better plans and policies we
can reduce Chinese imports to a large extent.

WORDS AND ACTIONS

"Well done is better than well said"
1 In this scenario of take promise and showoff words have become just sweet and illusion of what a
person wants to hear words are just said nowdays not meant. When someone, whom we consider to be an
authorised, tell us something good or bad about ourselves, we accept it and make it part of our internal
belief system. If it is good, we go to succeed. If it is bad, we fail or struggle to get ahead.
2. Has someone important in your life told you that you are ugly, or stupid, or clumsy ?or were you told
that you are attractive, or smart or clever ? Whichever you heard, especially if you were a child at the time,
you probably accepted it as fact. The words or label were given can too easily map out our lives. Slowly we
starts believing in them and it fits into our head which we donot realize at point of time.
3. Words are not just load algorithms and sound but can be a ray of hope for some or a source of
happiness for other. Each time when you pledge to do something for someone just rember one thing, can
you do it in real or are they just words. A person should realize that before just saying few words one should
know how he is going to fulfill it, can he really own this. Are these something that I should give my
judgments on and few more such questions a person should ask him self before speaking it out or as
something you take responsibility off
4. Actions and words are something that should match. Actions are not just the things a person preferring
or tend to do they are like mirror to the personality just like words. What a person do in his free time shows
a lot more about him in his job time.
5. "Action speaks louder than words" every single person have heard this phrase is self-explanatory
human brains tends to perform different actions in different situations. Those actions depicts the human
nature of the soul, mind and body of a person. Angeris he upmost brain tendering where the person words
and actions both differs at maximum range.
6. A person who control both his actions and words in the anger. Knows how to deal with the most
confusing and messed up situation. Emotional is another situation where a person needs the most calming
words and in this situations person tends to believe everything he hears and see Action and words both are
persons way of expressing its intension and thoughts.
" Words may show a mans wit, but actions his meaning".

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
NEED OF THE HOUR

Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present generation without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The goal of sustainable
development is to achieve balance and harmony between the environment, economic and socio-political
activities.

Sustainable development is need of the hour because the resources are unevenly disturbed and we all are
increasingly becoming more dependent on resources; we are consuming our resources without thinking
about the future generations. If the same rate of exploitation on natural resources continues, a time might
come when there will be no resources left to be used.

Each and every person of every country uses a lot of earth’s resources at different rate, which results in little
or nothing left for coming generations. Due to huge competition among the countries of the world, the
developed country want to become more developed and developing countries want to become developed,
the natural resources are getting exhausted rapidly. Petroleum, natural gas, coal, minerals, forest, timber
and many more resources which are very important are stealthily diminishing day by day. Natural resources
are part and parcel of life but irrational, rapid exhaustion, harm and degradation of nature is alarming
condition for world community. In Indian point of view, sustainable developments goals need to bring
together development and environment into a single set of targets. India is facing many problems like
unemployment, population explosion, illiteracy, encountering these problems.

India is maintaining balance between economic advancement while protecting environment in order to meet
the needs of present as well as future generations. Sustainable development leads to fast reduction,
increased productivity, improved health, waste minimization, better use of material, better quality of life,
emerging of new market and protection of environment.

In our country this concept has even greater relevance due to controversy surrounding the big dams and
mega projects and related long term growth. Environmental deterioration is increasing day to day due to
deforestation, overgrazing, green house effects and constructions of factories and industries. If not checked
in time our survival will be at stake. Balance is essential between development and environment changes in
global climate patterns, deforestation, species loss, air and water pollution, ozone depletion and toxic waste
disposal all indicate the urgent need for sustainable practices. Environmental laws including forest
protection Act and water prevention Act to be implemented. Environment education and awareness has to
spread at all levels. This crisis is global so, it is a duty of every citizen to promote sustainable development
and become environment friendly. Attention and awareness of sustainable development will prevent the
havoc and calamity.
