09 Working hard FOR our dream People from Kronplatz area and San Vigilio di Marebbe are very fond of ski racing – our local club was launched in January 1946 by a group of passionate pioneers at a time when this activity was not so popular in the country. In the last twenty years our European Cup races have become very popular among the athletes, they are well pleased with the good organization. Leaders as Aksel Lund Svindal or Marcel Hirscher won races here a few years ago. Our spectacular parallel slalom was one of the first continental races being regularly broadcasted live by Italian TV Rai Sport! Hundreds of volunteers help us every winter and our O.C. – Al Plan Events – is well structured as it regroups all local key players as the lift company, the tourist board, the ski club, the hotel owners and the municipality. Our know-how, our enthusiasm, the challenging course and the quality of the infrastructure guarantee high level events and we are proud to have been awarded the eight World Cup race in eight years also for the winter 2023/24. An we are especially proud of that, after the big showdown in the races 2023, where Mikaela Shiffrin set the all times record of female World Cup victories exactly at our venue. So, we are motivated and well organized for garanting a good race as usual. Of course, we hope that we can again welcome the large audience that participated to the event over the past few years. To all ski women our best wishes for the race in January. SALUTI Daniele Kastlunger PRESIDENT OC AL PLAN EVENTS A FEW WORDS We are SKI history Once upon a time, there were two friends named Hans Erlacher and Erich Kastlunger...this is the way we could start the story of the development of modern winter tourism at Kronplatz... Many visitors had already been practising their beloved winter sport there before the construction of the first lifts in the valley, yet these two passionate skiers set in place the real start to the touristic development of the area. Step by step, the pleasant array of slopes surrounding the villages around mount Kronplatz were equipped with new and modern lifts and super slopes in all directions were emerged. The Kronplatz mountain itself culminates in a peak at 2,275 meters! A dozen gondolas, chairlifts and ski-lifts have in fact been erected on that imposing hill, one of them starting directly from the rail station of Perca, allowing local skiers from the whole Val Pusteria valley to access it very easily after a short train ride. Our Organisation strongly supports activities which help establish the region as a leading destination for tourists from around the world – nearly a million in total yearly. Our experience and enthusiasm bring us to be proud to host again a major international event of the caliber of the Audi FIS Skiworldcup this winter 2024, after now more than 20 years of experience. 11 The World Cup among FRIENDS The area of San Vigilio, also known as “Al Plan de Mareo” in Ladin and the whole municipality of Mareo-Marebbe, may well be one of the most precious and well kept secrets of the Dolomites – for sure it is an idyllic place difficult to imagine when driving on the narrow road from Brunico to Corvara... and yet it has become a final destination for numerous families from all over the world who come here in summer and winter to find a great place to relax to the full and to enjoy life. A historical village also famous for its stupendous baroque style Church, San Vigilio evolved from a quiet village of 600 inhabitants in the late 1940s to a booming resort of several thousand inhabitants in high season after a few enterprising pioneers decided to invest their money and energy in its touristic development. Now visitors have the choice between many high-class hotels and the number of modern gondolas and chair lifts carrying tourists to the different corners of the valley. The mountains of San Vigilio are an important part of the UNESCO World Heritage within the natural park Fanes-Senes-Braies, a real jewel to be visited during the winter as well as in summertime. After some difficult times, we are again particularly honoured to host the best women racers in the world in occasion of the eighth AUDI FIS Ski World Cup race at Kronplatz in January 2024, taking place on the spectacular “Erta” run. People from San Vigilio and the whole municipality of Mareo-Marebbe are proud to display their sense of hospitality and friendship to the ski racing community every year again. Well organized clubs, numerous volunteers and reliable partners work intensively together to provide fun moments and a healthier life for the younger generation through all kinds of sports. Whilst some of our past and present champions have conquered summits in their respective disciplines, some of our famous mountain resorts are regularly hosting prestigious competitions in the Biathlon, Nordic or Alpine ski racing disciplines. Our government has strongly supported them for years, helping them to reach and maintain their high level of excellence on the prestigious yet demanding international ski circuit. Our community will also happily provide again the same kind of support to Kronplatz and San Vigilio di Marebbe, which will organize for the eights time a FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup race of the Ladies in January 2024. We are sure, that winter sports at the highest level have found a proper homeland at Kronplatz and the motivation will be at the top, even in difficult times like the ones we’re experiencing right now. 01 La pista ERTA, che dal Piz de Plaies scende direttamente a San Vigilio di Marebbe, paesino ladino della Val Badia, con la sua elevata pendenza come caratteristica principale, che le è valso appunto il nome ERTA. Su questa pista si allenano da anni anche i fratelli Mölgg, Manuela e Manfred, Marebbani doc e protagonisti di Coppa del Mondo per diversi anni. In quanto a dati tecnici, la ERTA non ha nulla da invidiare ad altre piste analoghe, con la partenza a quota 1.605 m sul Piz de Plaies, servita dalla omonima cabinovia ad agganciamento automatico, e il traguardo situato a quota 1.200 m a poca distanza dal centro del paese, per un dislivello totale di 405 m ed uno sviluppo di 1.325 m. Fanno impressione i numeri relativi alla pendenza, con un 32% di media, 22% di minima e 61% di pendenza massima in corrispondenza del muro chiamato „Para dal Pech“ nella parte centrale della pista. Sulla „ERTA“, realizzata nel 2003 per volontà di Erich Kastlunger, pioniere del turismo invernale a Plan de Corones, sono state disputate anche diverse gare di Coppa Europa maschile di GS e SL, che hanno visto quali vincitori atleti come Marcel Hirscher (AUT), Marcus Sandell (FIN), Alexander Ploner (ITA), Florian Eisath (ITA) e Kalle Palander (FIN). Mit ihren Kennzahlen kann sich die “ERTA” durchaus sehen lassen und braucht sich nicht vor Vergleichen mit anderen renommierten Rennstrecken zu fürchten. Der Start liegt auf 1.605 m Meereshöhe auf dem Piz de Plaies und wird von der gleichnamigen Kabinenbahn bedient. Das Ziel liegt hingegen auf 1.200 m auf der Piste “Pedagà”. Die Piste weist somit einen Höhenunterschied von 405 m bei einer Länge von 1.325 m. Beeindruckend sind auch die Daten zur Steilheit, mit einem Durchschnitt von 32% bei einer niedrigsten Neigung von 22% und 61% Höchstneigung auf dem Steilhang “Para dal Pech” im mittleren Teil der Strecke. Die Rennpiste “ERTA”, welche im Jahr 2003 auf Initiative des Winterpioniers Erich Kastlunger gebaut worden ist, hat in der Vergangenheit einige Auflagen des FIS Europacups der Herren beherbergt, sowohl GS als auch SL, wo unter anderem Marcel Hirscher (AUT), Marcus Sandell (FIN), Alexander Ploner (ITA), Florian Eisath (ITA) und Kalle Palander (FIN) als Sieger hervorgegangen sind. 01 Die famose Weltcup-Piste Erta in St. Vigil in Enneberg bekommt eine neue Variante: Genauso wie die Weltcup-Piste Erta wird auch die neue Piste Sorega vollstes Geschick und eine große Portion an Mut von den Skifahrern abverlangen. Die Sorega Piste weist eine Länge von 1.450 Metern auf, hat einen Höhenunterschied von 435 Metern und ihre maximale Neigung liegt bei ca. 70%. Proprio come la pista Erta, la pista famosa della Coppa del Mondo, anche la nuova variante richiederà agli sciatori la massima abilità e una grande dose di coraggio. La nuova variante della pista nera Erta ha una lunghezza di 1.450 metri, un dislivello di 435 metri e una pendenza massima di circa 70%.
