INTRODUCTION Education is an ongoing process of establishing the identity and developing the potential of the individual. The aim is that each individual becomes a wellbalanced human being – through the formation of noble morals and attitudes as well as acquiring the requisite knowledge and skills – so that each person will be able to benefit the entire community. This process should be initiated as early as preschool age. At this early stage of every child's growth, the continuous instilling of positive and noble values will be well internalised and will subsequently form a solid foundation for shaping a strong identity. With the right guidance, exposure and focus, a child can be nurtured to become a useful citizen to his or her community and country. In line with this, the Preschool Take-5 Activity Module provides for, and is a complement to, the learning and teaching of pupils in Tabika Perpaduan. This Module will add value to pupils through its focus on the formation of a love for Malaysia and their becoming useful citizens. This Module emphasises educating pupils in three areas: Malaysia’s National Principles, hygiene and safety. Each area will be presented as a separate segment with activities arranged under it. The National Principles Segment will focus on the application and implementation of Malaysia's National Principles in education, which is to instil firm beliefs and fundamentals so as to forge the Malaysian identity in all generations of Malaysians. In brief, educating the young generation well so that they have strong National Principles assists and ensures the development of good spirituality, attitudes and values in children in the early stages of their development. The aim is to shape future generations of noble citizens who will love and respect each other, respect others’ beliefs and religious institutions as well as uphold the Malaysian Constitution. Subsequently, future generations will grow to possess a strong Malaysian identity and be able to contribute successfully to reforming the country into a better Malaysia.

In the Hygiene Segment, focus will be given to cultivating physical, mental and social well-being in children with the aim that every child avoids diseases and sickness, and practises and maintains a healthy lifestyle. A healthy individual will be able to carry out work and routine tasks efficiently and effectively on an ongoing basis. Hygiene practices will also create a positive class environment that emphasises the aspect of hygiene at all times. A tidy and clean classroom will create a comfortable atmosphere and eventually helps teachers to provide a happy learning environment for their pupils. In addition, a systematic layout in the classroom can also affect pupils’ achievements and increase their interest in learning. Therefore, personal hygiene should be emphasised and cultivated within each individual to ensure everyone’s well-being. In the Safety Segment, the activities to be implemented focus on the education and practice of safety measures as a guide and training for children to help them know how to live in a safer and more secure environment. All the activities in this segment are in line with the concept of creating safe situations and surroundings as well as keeping danger away. In conclusion, this Take-5 Activity Module will be an effective educational medium for educating and cultivating good, positive values in children as routine practice, starting from very young all the way to adulthood. The aspiration is to foster a good environment that is harmonious, wholesome and safe

OBJECTIVE TAKE 5 To build and develop citizens with a strong identity, noble attitudes and a love for their country, based on the National Education philosophy, which is in line with Malaysia’s National Principles. 1 2 To nurture and develop pupils who practise cleanliness as a routine in daily life. 3 To educate and provide better knowledge and awareness of safety measures that need to be practised and that are applicable in appropriate situations. largest
