ANNUAL REPORT IMK 2022 4 MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR Alhamdulillah, all praise is due to Allah for His blessing given to the IMK 2022 Annual Report Committee members in completing the report. Thank you and congratulations to all IMK lecturers for all the hard work, successes, and achievements during 2022. These could not be achieved without the help, efforts and support from all IMK administration staffs. The year 2022 has marked another great change to the structure and governance of IMK. Beginning 1st September 2022, IMK has become a stand-alone institute after being restructured under the Faculty of Applied and Human Sciences in 2020. With the strength of 53 academic and 5 administration staffs, IMK continuously contributing to the milestones that has been focused in the Pelan Strategik UniMAP 2025. Despite serving the university with planning, monitoring, and teaching engineering mathematics, mathematics for engineering technology and statistics courses to all diploma and undergraduate students, IMK constantly performed effectively to the university in other aspects such as in research and publications. Insya Allah, IMK will continue to mature and step out with new strategies to accomplish the set goals by the university. Once again, I wish to thank and acknowledge the IMK 2022 Annual Report Committee members for successfully compiling the reports. I urge the commitment and support from all IMK staff to give your very best for the year 2023. Great and challenging expectations from the university is waiting for us to prove. Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah for His blessing in completing the 2022 Institute of Engineering Mathematics Annual Report. The purpose of this report is to provide information and achievements obtained by the Institute of Engineering Mathematics in 2022. With this report, we are pleased to share our achievements throughout the year with all UniMAP academic staff and stakeholders. This report is completed with the support of all staff through their ideas and information. I would like to thank all the staff of the Institute of Engineering Mathematics for helping me to complete this annual report. I hope the achievement of this institute can be improved in 2023. ANNUAL REPORT IMK 2022 6 1.0 INTRODUCTION Institute of Engineering Mathematics (IMK) is a centre for planning and monitoring the curriculum of Mathematics and Statistics to all engineering and engineering technology programmes in UniMAP. It undertakes exemplary teaching and research across several disciplines. Each discipline explores opportunities to support and enhance our subjects, providing exciting interdisciplinary research and innovative approaches to teaching. Our areas of expertise cover Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Physics, Simulation and Operational Research. Our scientists are active in internationally recognised research across the disciplines, advancing knowledge in the established fields, alongside novel developments in emerging areas such as fuzzy modeling, computational intelligence applications, computational fluid dynamics and multi-characteristics quality control. 1.1 Mission, Vision, and Objectives Mission Leading effort and commitment in teaching, research and consultation in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields in Malaysia. Vision Excellence in teaching, research and consultation in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields. Objectives 1) To plan for Master and Doctor of Philosophy programmes in Engineering Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Theoretical Physics and Operational Research. 2) To become the centre for knowledge development in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields. 3) To become a reference centre and expertise in Engineering Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Theoretical Physics and Operational Research. 4) To expand and promote research and development activities in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields. 5) To promote scientific discourse in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields to generate new knowledge and discoveries useful to the community and nation. 6) To conduct training programmes for UniMAP staf and students as well as the community in Engineering Mathematics and the related thrust fields.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) A Master's degree in Mathematics / Engineering / Science / Computer Science/ Engineering Technology from any institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate or any other equivalent qualification to Master's degree recognized by the University Senate.
