ANNUAL REPORT IMK 2022 76 6.0 REPORT OF OTHERS COMMITTEES 6.1 Seminar Committee The IMK seminar committee managed to conduct 16 series of virtual seminars from January to December 2022. This weekly seminar has been conducted since 2015 and has become the main platform for IMK academic staff and postgraduate students to share their knowledge and expertise related to any fields of mathematics. The seminar also invites academics outside IMK and UniMAP. From 16 series of seminar, half of series are given by IMK and UniMAP academic staff, while the other half presented by academician outside UniMAP such as Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) such as Series-1 on ‘Petua & Rahsia Memperoleh Geran FRGS’ by Dr. Nurul Fadly Habidin from Faculty of Management and Economics, Series-2 on ‘Building a Quantum Computer’ by Dr. Yap Yung Szen (Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM), Series-3 by Dr. Anuar Ahmad (Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) with ‘Pemikiran & Hala Tuju Pendidikan di Malaysia’, and Series-4 about the new technology in new media by Muhammad Aiman Zubir from College of Creative Arts, Universiti Teknologi MARA, UiTM. We also invite the government agency like Planetarium Negara about ‘Kelestarian Angkasa’ by Mhd Fairos Asillam (Senior Head of Deputy Director). On Seminar Series-8, we have the international speaker from the Faculty of Education, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Indonesia by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udi Samanhudi with talk on the citation practice for applied linguistic research. The importance of the basic journal of mathematics given by Dr. Ismail Mohd, Editor of Jurnal Asas Ilmu Matematik (JAIM) and the overview of the social artificial intelligence system shared by Dr. Azizi Ab. Aziz, the director of STEM Academy, Universiti Utara Malaysia, UUM, on series-9 and series-15, respectively. We also managed to conduct the joint seminar on Mathematics and Statistics with UiTM Pulau Pinang with our speakers Dr. Yusmye Nur Abu Yusuf and Syafawati Ab. Saad. Other seminar series were mostly given by IMK staff on their PhD research study and recent research work. We planned to schedule more interesting seminar topics and invite more presenters from other institutions for 2023, especially in the topics from IMK’s six research areas: Applied Mathematics, Engineering Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research and Theoretical Physics.

The workshop was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Kadri bin Junoh from IMK. A total of 2 participants from Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh had successfully participated in this workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants can apply Python to solve problems in their field of work. 23rd -24th May 2022 3 Workshop on Particle Swarm Optimization: From Theory to MATLAB The workshop was held for one day at the IMK Computer Lab. The workshop was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainor Ridzuan bin Yahya from IMK. A total of 8 participants had successfully participated in this workshop.. Through this workshop, participants were exposed to MATLAB software to identify the method of using PSO in solving optimization problems. 10th August 2022 4 Workshop on LaTeX For Academic Writing The purpose of this workshop was to introduce LaTeX software to produce scientific document writing easily and neatly according to the correct format. The workshop was held for one day at the IMK Computer Lab and virtually through Google Meet. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Zainab Yahya and Ts. Dr. Wan Zuki Azman Wan Muhammad from IMK. 83 5 Mendeley Workshop The purpose of this workshop is to introduce Mendeley Software to assist postgraduate students and lecturers that involved in research and thesis writing. The workshop was delivered by Ts. Dr. Wan Zuki Azman Wan Muhammad from IMK. A total of 11 participants had successfully participated in the workshop through the Google Meet application. At the end of the workshop, participants can use Software Mendeley to manage articles for research and thesis writing. 29th September 2022 6 Workshop On Web-Based Tool Application Development The workshop was held virtually through the Google Meet application for two days. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Salina Mohd Asi from Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology (FKTEN), UniMAP. A total of 10 participants had successfully participated in the workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants can use all the applications learned to successfully create applications on the website according to current needs. 4th-5th October 2022 7 Workshop on Introduction to Python This workshop was held from 8.30 am to 1 pm at IMK Computer Lab and virtually through Google Meet application. This workshop has been delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Kadri bin Junoh from IMK. A total of 27 participants had successfully participated in this workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants can master Python to solve problems in their respective areas of research. 27th October 2022 8 Workshop on Thesis Formatting Using MS Word The purpose of this workshop was to introduce the method of thesis formatting using MS Word in order to make the writing of thesis become more efficient. The workshop was held for one day through the Google Meet application. The workshop was delivered by Ts. Dr. Wan Zuki Azman Wan Muhammad from IMK. A total of 3 participants had successfully participated in this workshop. 24th November 2022 9 Workshop on Data Analysis and Visualization with Python The workshop was held for one day through Google Meet application. 90 6.4 Promotion Committee Promotion Committee Activities Basically, there are no events or programmes organized by Promotion Committee. Our task is not to conduct an event, but our task is to promote the event. In other words, we should think the strategies on how to promote the event conducted by other committees to their specific target audience. Therefore, we arrange five (5) main objectives : a) To promote activities/events/programmes conducted by Postgraduate Committee. b) To promote activities/events/programmes conducted by IMK Workshop Committee. c) To promote activities/events/programmes conducted by IMK Seminar Committee. d) To promote journal of Applied Mathematics and Computational Intelligence (AMCI). e) To promote the achievements of our staffs.
