KU KPS Hall of History is situated on 1st floor of the
Building 1 of Office of KU KPS Library at a 9.5 x 20 square
meter room. Formerly, it was for keeping reserved books and
the library orientation for the first-year students. In front of
the room is reading area for about 200 students. Its walls
are concrete with glass windows and it used to contain and
provide services of about 5,000 items of reserved books
and other printed media such as Thai and English books,
thesis and dissertations, special problems, magazines, and
newspapers.

In 2005, the reserved books were moved to the
library service section on the first floor, Building 2 so the
room was empty and it was used as a reading area for
students. In 2009, it was as the Local Information Center
for 8 provinces in the Western region including Suphan Buri,
Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, Samut Sakhon,
Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
This Center provide KU KPS students and general public
interested with agricultural and tourism information of those
8 provinces. Moreover, there were some exhibitions held,
for example, that of “Top Goods of 8 Western Provinces”
in the Agricultural Fair at Kamphaeng Saen.

The Hall of Fame, the old name of KU KPS Hall
of History which once had been situated at the University
Center Building Hall was moved to the same room of the
Local Information Center for eight provinces in the Western
region. Later the KU KPS Hall of History was officially opened
on February 25, 2011, the 7th anniversary of the Library of
Kasetsart University Kamphaeng Saen Campus establishment.

พ.ศ. 2559 เสนอให้ใ้ ช้้พื้้�นที่่�บริเิ วณห้้องหนังั สือื สำำ�รองดังั กล่่าว ซึ่่�งมีขี นาดพื้้น� ที่่�ห้้องกว้า้ ง 14.60 เมตร ยาว 22.00 เมตร

Later, on February 11, 2015; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viroch Impitaksa, KU Council President, visited
the working place to build the KU KPS Hall of History with the reception from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trin
Saengsuwan, KU KPS Vice President together with his administration board.

According to the meeting of the Establishing Board of KU KPS Hall of History in 2016, it was
proposed that the KU KPS Hall of History should be situated in place of the reserved books section
of the Office of KU KPS Library on the area of 321.20 (14.60 x 22.00) square meters.

ในปีี พ.ศ. 2557 ผู้้�อำ�ำ นวยการสำำ�นัักหอสมุุด กำ�ำ แพงแสน (ดร.เปรมปรีดีิ์� บุญุ รัังษีี) ได้เ้ สนอขออนุุมััติงิ บประมาณ
ดำ�ำ เนินิ การจัดั ตั้ง� ห้อ้ งเกียี รติยิ ศ มหาวิทิ ยาลัยั เกษตรศาสตร์์ วิทิ ยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสน ต่อ่ รองอธิกิ ารบดีวี ิทิ ยาเขตกำ�ำ แพงแสน
ในขณะนั้้น� (รศ. ดร.สมบัตั ิ ิ ชิณิ ะวงศ์)์ เพื่่อ� ของบประมาณในการจัดั ตั้ง� โครงการห้อ้ งเกียี รติยิ ศ มหาวิทิ ยาลัยั เกษตรศาสตร์์

1. Process of Establishing the KU KPS Hall of History

In 2014, the then Director of the Office of KU KPS Library (Dr. Prempree Boonrangsi) proposed
a budget request of 2,000,000 baht for establishing the then KU KPS Hall of Fame (renamed as KU KPS
Hall of History, afterwards) to the then KU KPS Vice-president (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sombat Chinnawong)
and later the proposal was approved with financial support from Kasetsart University Savings
Cooperative Ltd.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viroch Impitaksa, KU Council President visited the Office of KU KPS Library
and chaired the meeting of the Establishing Board of KU KPS Hall of History on January 23rd, 2016
and it is responsible for planning, formulating, supervising the establishment to be done successfully
and coordinate the related tasks with the sub-departments within KU KPS to collect information,
publications, and relevant documents of the sub-departments and making a summary of the operating
results presented to the executives.

Following the end of the term of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Banjob Piromkham as acting KU KPS
Vice-president, on February 15, 2016; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trin Saengsuwan was appointed as acting KU
KPS Vice-president. Later on March 23rd, 2016; he held the meeting of the Establishing Board of
KU KPS Hall of History again. After the meeting, he officially proposed a request of transferring the
establishing budget to KU KPS and appointed 2 sub-committees: the KU KPS Hall of History Design
Subcommittee and Hall of History and Data Acquisition and Collection Subcommittee for the KU KPS
Hall of History establishment.

(สองล้้านบาทถ้้วน) ที่่�ได้้รัับการสนัับสนุุนจากสหกรณ์์ออมทรััพย์์
มหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ จำ�ำ กััด ให้้แก่่มหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์
วิิทยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสน เพื่่�อใช้้ในการออกแบบ และจััดซื้�้อจััดจ้้าง
ต่่อมาวันั ที่่� 21 มิิถุุนายน พ.ศ. 2560 ได้้ลงนามในสัญั ญาจ้า้ งโครงการ
จััดตั้�งหอประวััติิ มหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ วิิทยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสน
ตามสััญญาจ้้าง เลขที่่� B3104/74/2560 ซึ่่�งได้้ตรวจรัับมอบงาน
เมื่อ� วัันที่่� 24 พฤศจิกิ ายน พ.ศ. 2560

2. Designing Process

The establishing budget of 2,000,000 baht with financial support from Kasetsart University
Savings Cooperative Ltd; was transferred to KU KPS for designing and procurement. Later, June 21,
2017 the employment contract, no; B3104/74/2560 for the Establishing KU KPS Hall of History was
officially signed and the work results were inspected and received on November 24, 2017.

3. Data Acquisition and Collection and Exhibitions to be Displayed

Resulting from the collaboration between the KU KPS Hall of History Design Subcommittee
(Assoc. Prof. Suwit Rattananand) and Hall of History and Data Acquisition and Collection Subcommittee
it has been concluded that the exhibitions to be displayed in the KU KPS Hall of History are as follows:

Exhibition 1: Royal family members and KU KPS; to exhibit pictures of the past events
of royal gracious visits and tasks at KU KPS

Exhibition 2: KU KPS historical development in 5 decades (1967 -2017) from its
inception and both physical changes in and changes in lifestyle.

Exhibition 3: Displaying KU KPS pre-historical sites from that was produced as a special
gift for KU KPS on 15th Anniversary of Establishment with support from the Project “Love Thailand
with Siam Rubber” December 1994 by KU Office of Agricultural Museum and Culture.

Exhibition 4: Statue of M.L.Xujati Kambhu and his biography.
Exhibition 5: List of KU KPS Vice-presidents since 1979.
Exhibition 6: Circulated displaying such as foundation histories of KU KPS faculties,
institutes and Offices, and KU KPS important events.
Exhibition 7: KU academic gowns.
Exhibition 8: Souvenirs from distinguished institutions and guests.

Later on September 7, 2018, KU KPS Hall of History was officially opened and presided over
by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viroch Impitaksa, KU Council President accompanied by Dr. Jongrak Watcharinrat,
acting KU President. Chairman of the ceremony gave a speech of congratulations after an official
report by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trin Saengsuwan, the then KU KPS Vice-president. Later, KU KPS Hall of
History was officially delivered to the director of the Kamphaeng Saen Library to supervise the
collection of important documents as well as the honor of important people who are useful to
KU KPS Finally, those in the ceremony together planted Kanlapapruek trees (Cassia bakeriana Craib,
wishing tree, pink shower) in front of the Kamphaeng Saen Library building to commemorate and
witness the opening of KU KPS Hall of History.

KU KPS has modestly received royal grace from 5 members of the Royal Family of the Chakri
Dynasty to graciously and kindly visit and preside over the important ceremonies including: Her
Royal Highness (H.R.H.) Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, H.R.H. Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, H.R.H
Princess Bajrakitiyabha, H.R.H. Princess Soamsawali and H.R.H. Princess Aditayadornkitikhun. Their royal
gracious visits brought wholehearted joy and pride to KU and KU KPS executives, lecturers and staff
and students.

1. The opening ceremony of the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex

H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously came to preside over the opening ceremony
of the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex and to kindly plant the Nonsi tree (Peltophorum
pterocarpum), the Kasetsart University’s symbolic tree, near the entrance there on December 20, 1980.

2. The opening ceremony of the Agricultural Extension and Training
Center and Agricultural Machinery National Center

H.R.H. Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana graciously came to preside
over the opening ceremony of the Agricultural Extension and Training Center on December 16, 1981
and kindly planted a Kalapapreuk tree. On that special occasion H.R.H the Princess was humbly and
warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Paitoon Ingkasuwan, the then President of Kasetsart University (KU),
together with Prof. Dr. Krisana Chutima, the then KU Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Phorn Suwan
VajokKasikit, the Director of KU Office of Extension and Training and Assist. Prof. Poom Khamkliang,
the then Deputy Director of KU Office of Extension and Training and KU personnel.

Afterwards on the same special occasion, H.R.H. Princess Chulabhorn Walailak also presided
over the opening ceremony of The Agricultural Machinery National Center and kindly planted the
Padudaeng tree (Phyllocarpus septentrionalis Donn.Sm.; monkey flower tree) there.

3. The opening ceremony of the 4th National Beef Cattle Fair

H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on December 16, 1994, graciously came to preside
over the opening ceremony of the 4th National Beef Cattle Fair at KU KPS and kindly planted a Doum
palm tree (Hyphaene thebaica). On that special occasion H.R.H. the Princess was humbly and warmly
welcomed by Prof. Dr. Kampol Adulvidhya, the then KU President, together with Prof. Dr. Boontham
Jitanand, the then Director of KU Office of Agricultural Extension and Training and Assist. Prof. Chukiat
Ruksorn, the then Deputy Director of KU Office of Agricultural Extension and Training and KU personnel.

H.R.H. Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on December 10, 1997, graciously came to preside over the
opening ceremony of the National Agricultural Fair at Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng saen Campus
and kindly planted a Chan Hawm tree (Mansonia gagei J.R.Drumm. ex Prain; kalamet).

Then, H.R.H. the Princess came to opened the Suan Saen Palm Garden as a part of the Forest
Reforestation Project in Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Royal accession to the throne of His
Majesty the King Rama IX., H.R.H. the Princess was humbly and warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Theera
Sutabutr, the then KU President together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thatchai Saengsingkaew, the Director
of KU Office of Extension and Training, Assist. Prof. Chukiat Raksorn the Deputy Director of Office of

6. Graciously Planting a Double Coconut Tree and a Champi Sirindhorn Tree

On August 8, 2001, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously came to plant a double
coconut tree (Lodoicea maldivica J.Gmelin Pers; double coconut) at Suan Saen Palm Garden and
kindly planted a Champi Sirindhorn tree (Magnolia sirindhorniae Noot. & Chalermglin) on the area
of aromatic plants in front of the Laboratory Center and the Greenhouse Complex on the occasion
that H.R.H. the Princess led a study trip of the 5th year students of Chulachomklao Royal Military
Academy (CRMA), Nakhon Nayoke province. On this occasion, H.R.H. the Princess was humbly
and warmly welcomed by His Excellency Ampol Senanarong, the Privy Council member and the
then president of KU Council together with Prof. Dr. Theera Sutabutr, the KU President, and
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thatchai Saengsingkaew, the Director of the Office of Extension and Training and

7. The opening ceremony of the Annual Agricultural Fair 2016

On Sunday, December 4, 2016 on KU KPS; H. R. H. Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen
Suddhanarinatha, graciously came to officially open the Annual Agricultural Fair 2016, under the
slogan “KU KPS Follows His Majesty the King Rama IX’s Footprints”.

Also on this occasion, the Princess attentively visited to the Agricultural Exhibition of His
Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the royal fisheries results together with those innovations
and researches presented by lecturers and students from all KU KPS’s faculties including the
Exhibition of His Majesty the King Rama IX’s Footprints; simulation of Tilapia Culture, to sufficiently
follow the Great Father’s Footprints, Thai Flag Betta (Siamese fighting fish with Thai Flog colors) learning
for earning a living, exhibition of career building to increase income for farmers-e.g. less-water cropping
in rice fields, market of KU KPS’s research results and innovations, Rice Research Center’s exhibition
of research and development of rice varieties resistant to various environments, backyard garden for
conservation of Thai vegetable varieties, simulation of Thai backyard garden, growing vegetables in
pots and growing backyard garden vegetables with herbal properties.

In this important event, the Princess was humbly and officially welcomed by Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Viroch Impitaksa, the President of KU Council, Dr. Jongrak Watcharinrat, Acting the President of
KU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trin Saengsuwan, Acting the Vice President of KU KPS, along with various chiefs
of local government agencies, military officers, police and students.

ณ ตำำ�บลประตููสามยอด อำำ�เภอพระนคร จัังหวััดพระนคร เป็็นบุุตร
คนโตของพลตรีีพระยาสุุรเสนา (ม.ร.ว.ชิิต กำ�ำ ภูู) และ คุุณหญิิงผอบ
สุุรเสนา ได้้รัับพระราชทานนามจากสมเด็็จพระศรีีพััชริินทราบรม
ราชิินีนี าถ มีีพี่่�น้อ้ งร่่วมบิดิ ามารดา ทั้้�งสิ้น� 12 คน

ด้้านการศึึกษา เริ่�มศึึกษาในโรงเรีียนมััธยมวััดเทพศิิริินทร์์

เดินิ ทางกลัับประเทศไทย ต่อ่ มาเข้า้ รัับราชการในกรมชลประทาน เมื่อ� ปี ี พ.ศ. 2473

หม่่อมหลวงชููชาติิ กำ�ำ ภูู เข้้ารัับราชการในกรมชลประทาน เมื่�อวัันที่่� 18 สิิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2473 จนเกษีียณ
อายุุราชการ รวมเป็็นเวลารัับราชการทั้้�งสิ้�น 36 ปีี ภายหลัังเข้้ารัับราชการในกรมชลประทานเป็็นเวลา 18 ปีี ได้้รัับ
พระราชโองการโปรดเกล้้าฯ แต่่งตั้�งให้้ดำำ�รงตำ�ำ แหน่่งอธิิบดีีกรมชลประทาน เมื่�อวัันที่่� 21 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2492 และ
ดำำ�รงตำ�ำ แหน่ง่ ดัังกล่า่ วเป็น็ เวลา 18 ปีี โดยหม่่อมหลวงชููชาติ ิ กำ�ำ ภูู ได้ทุ้่�มเททั้้�งกำ�ำ ลังั กายและสติปิ ััญญา เพื่่�อการพัฒั นา
ประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะอย่่างยิ่�งด้า้ นการเสริิมสร้้างกิจิ การชลประทานให้เ้ จริิญก้้าวหน้้าทัดั เทียี มอารยประเทศ

Mom Luang (M.L.) Xujati Kambhu
was born on January 4, 1905 at Pra
Tu Sam Yot Sub-district, Phra Nakhon
District, Phra Nakhon (Now: Bangkok)
as the first son of Major General Phraya
Surasena (M.R. Jit Kambhu) and Khun
Ying Pha-ob Surasena. His name was
graciously and kindly given by Her
Majesty Queen Saovabha Phongsri and
he had 12 siblings.

M.L. Xujati Kambhu attended Debsirin School and graduated with secondary education
certificate in 1914. Later, in 1923, he won the Royal Scholarships to study for two years at
St. Peter’s School, York, England and in 1925, he matriculated and continued his degrees for five
years at City and Guilds’ Engineering College, University of London. He was granted the certificate in
A.C.G.I besides Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, D.I.C (Advanced Diploma of Imperial College)
and Master of Science in Concrete Structures and Hydraulics.

In 1929, he had done a civil engineering internship at the Office of Public Works of the
UK Government for a year before coming back to Thailand in 1930 to serve in the Royal Irrigation
Department.

For 36 years that he had served until his retirement, M.L. Xujati Kambhu began serving in the
Royal Irrigation Department on August 18, 1923. After 18 years, he was titled by a Royal command as
Director General of the Royal Irrigation Department on January 21, 1949 and was in the position for
18 years. M.L. Xujati Kambhu dedicated his strength and knowledge to develop Thailand, especially
in irrigation to be advanced as equal as the civilized countries.

เพื่่อ� ศึกึ ษาค้น้ คว้า้ หาพฤติกิ รรมของปรากฏการณ์ท์ างอุทุ กวิทิ ยาในปริมิ ณฑลต่า่ ง ๆ เกิดิ เป็น็ ตำำ�ราว่า่ ด้ว้ ยน้ำ��ำ ฝน น้ำำ��ท่า่ ของ

อาทิิ งานชลประทานราษฎร์ป์ ระเภทเหมือื งฝาย งานสร้า้ งอ่า่ งเก็บ็ น้ำ�ำ�ขนาดเล็ก็ และขนาดใหญ่่ งานโครงการเจ้า้ พระยาใหญ่ ่
งานโครงการยันั ฮีี (สร้้างเขื่อ� นภููมิิพล)

เนื่่อ� งจากผลงานของกรมชลประทานภายใต้ก้ ารดำ�ำ เนินิ งานของหม่่อมหลวงชููชาติ ิ กำ�ำ ภูู เกิิดเป็น็ ที่่ป� ระจักั ษ์แ์ ละ

หม่่อมหลวงชููชาติิ กำำ�ภูู เป็็นผู้้�รัักงานเป็็นชีีวิิตจิิตใจ มีีความสุุขเมื่�อได้้เห็็นผลสำำ�เร็็จของงาน งานที่่�ท่่านได้้รัับ
มอบหมายจึึงเป็็นที่่ป� ระจักั ษ์์ถึึงคุุณงามความดีี ต่่อมาเมื่อ� วัันที่่� 18 สิิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2499 หม่่อมหลวงชููชาติ ิ กำ�ำ ภูู ได้ร้ ัับ
พระมหากรุณุ าธิคิ ุุณโปรดเกล้้าฯ แต่่งตั้�งเป็น็ รััฐมนตรีี และได้้รับั แต่่งตั้ง� อีกี ครั้้ง� เมื่�อวัันที่่� 9 กัันยายน พ.ศ. 2508 และยังั
ได้้รัับแต่่งตั้�งให้้ดำำ�รงตำำ�แหน่่งที่่�มีีความสำำ�คััญ ๆ อาทิิ ที่่�ปรึึกษาของธนาคารโลก รองประธานองค์์การ International
Commission on Irrigation and Drainage และได้ร้ ับั แต่ง่ ตั้�งเป็็น อธิิการบดีีมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์ ์ เมื่อ� วันั ที่่ �
2 สิงิ หาคม พ.ศ. 2508 ได้ด้ ำ�ำ รงตำำ�แหน่่งจนถึงึ วัันที่่� 31 ตุุลาคม พ.ศ. 2510

During that M.L. Xujati Kambhu was in charge of the Nakhon Nayok Construction Project,
there was a flood which caused the delay of construction. He decided to compile the statistics of
rainfall and runoff from department of statistics to research the aspects of Hydrologic Phenomenon in
metropolitan area, then it had become a manual of Thailand’s rainfall and runoff which presented
as a dissertation to the Office of Royal Society, and he was granted as a royal master in Applied
Sciences on October 6, 1942.

In the middle of taking the position of Director General of Royal Irrigation Department, M.L.
Xujati Kambhu expanded the national irrigation development. His prominent projects: Irrigations for
Thai people (Irrigation Channel), Small/Big Reservoir Constructions, Chao Phraya Yai Project, Yanhee
Project (to construct Bhumibol Dam).

Since the projects of the Royal Irrigation Department, under administration of M.L. Xujati
Kambhu had been recognized and entrusted by the government. The department was assigned and
responsible for establishment of Lignite Mines, Jalaprathan Cement Co. Ltd., North Bangkok Power
Plant, Krabi Power Plant, chemical fertilizer company and factory in Mae Mo District, Lampang, and
Thai Industrial Machines Co., Ltd.

M.L. Xujati Kambhu who dedicated to work was delighted when the project was successful.
His assignments were widely presented as his devotion. Later, on August 18, 1956, he was officially
appointed as a Minister, and appointed again on September 9, 1965. He was also appointed to take
the important positions such as the Consultant at The World Bank, the Vice President of International
Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, and the President of Kasetsart University on August 2, 1965
until October 31, 1967.

ในช่่วงที่่�หม่่อมหลวงชููชาติิ กำ�ำ ภูู ดำ�ำ รงตำ�ำ แหน่่งอธิิการบดีีมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ ในขณะนั้้�นเป็็นช่่วง
ระยะที่่�ต้้องดำ�ำ เนิินงานตามโครงการปรัับปรุุงและขยายงานมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ ให้้สอดคล้้องกัับแผนพััฒนา
เศรษฐกิิจและสัังคมแห่่งชาติิ ในระยะ 5 ปีี แรก (พ.ศ. 2510-2514) ที่่�จะขยายงานให้้รัับนิิสิิต จำ�ำ นวน 5,000 คน
และในระยะ 5 ปีีที่่�สอง (พ.ศ. 2515 - 2519) ให้้รัับนิิสิติ ได้้ 10,000 คน ตามมติิของสภามหาวิทิ ยาลัยั เกษตรศาสตร์ ์
ในขณะนั้้�น ดังั นี้้�

1. ความต้อ้ งการนักั วิิชาการในระดัับปริญิ ญาตรี ี สาขาวิชิ าต่า่ ง ๆ ของวิิชาที่่�เกี่�ยวข้อ้ งกับั การเกษตรมากกว่า่
400 คนต่อ่ ปีี

2. มหาวิทิ ยาลัยั เกษตรศาสตร์์ ควรจะขยายงานเพื่่�อรับั นิสิ ิิตให้้ได้้เกินิ 5,000 คน ในอนาคต
3. จััดหาสถานที่่�เพื่่�อรัับแผนการขยายงานมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ในแผนพััฒนาเศรษฐกิิจและสัังคม
แห่ง่ ชาติิ ฉบับั ที่่� 3 (พ.ศ. 2515-2519) เมื่อ� หม่อ่ มหลวงชูชู าติ ิ กำ�ำ ภูู ได้ม้ าดำำ�รงตำำ�แหน่ง่ อธิกิ ารบดีมี หาวิทิ ยาลัยั เกษตรศาสตร์์
ภารกิิจสำ�ำ คััญที่่�ท่่านได้้ดำ�ำ เนิินการและถืือว่่าเป็็นคุุณููปการทั้้�งต่่อมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ และวิิทยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสน
ประการแรกคืือ การขอกู้�เงิินธนาคารโลกเพื่่�อพััฒนามหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ ด้้วยวิิสััยทััศน์์อัันกว้้างไกลของท่่าน
ที่่�เห็็นว่่าเนื้้�อดิินที่่�กำำ�แพงแสนเป็็นเนื้้�อดิินดีี ลึึก อุ้้�มและระบายน้ำ��ำ ได้้ดีี เหมาะแก่่ความต้้องการของพืืชต่่าง ๆ จะเลี้�ยง
ปศุุสััตว์์และทำำ�ประมงน้ำ��ำ จืืดก็็ได้้ กรมชลประทานได้้รัับเงิินกู้้�จากธนาคารโลก เพื่่�อพััฒนาเขื่�อนที่่�จัังหวััดกาญจนบุุรีีแล้้ว
จะสามารถทำ�ำ คลองชลประทานมาที่่�วิิทยาเขตกำ�ำ แพงแสนได้้โดยตรง มีีน้ำำ�� ใช้้ตลอดปีี อีีกทั้้�งกรมชลประทานจะตััดถนน

กำ�ำ ภูู ได้้พิิจารณาจััดซื้อ�้ ที่่ด� ินิ ที่่อ� ำำ�เภอกำำ�แพงแสน จัังหวัดั นครปฐม โดยมีีเหตุุผลดัังต่อ่ ไปนี้้�
1. ดินิ บริเิ วณอำำ�เภอกำำ�แพงแสน เป็็นดิินที่่เ� หมาะแก่่การทำ�ำ การเพาะปลููก
2. ที่่ด� ิินแปลงนี้้�จะได้้รับั การชลประทานจากคลองที่่จ� ะขุุดมาจากเขื่อ� นแม่ก่ ลอง (เดิิมคืือ เขื่อ� นวชิริ าลงกรณ)
3. อาณาเขตที่่�ดินิ ทิศิ เหนืือจรดถนนจัันทรุุเบกษา ทิิศใต้้จรดถนนลาดยางกรมชลประทาน ทิิศตะวัันตกจรด

ทางรถไฟสายนครปฐม - สุพุ รรณบุุรี ี ทิศิ ตะวัันออกจรดถนนมาลัยั แมน
4. ที่่ด� ิินแปลงนี้้ห� ่่างจากจังั หวััดนครปฐม ประมาณ 20 กิิโลเมตร และห่่างจากกรุงุ เทพมหานคร ประมาณ 80

5. ที่่�ดิินแปลงนี้้�มีีพื้้�นที่่�ประมาณ 8,000 ไร่่ เป็็นที่่�ดิินขนาดเหมาะสมแก่่การเป็็นมหาวิิทยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์ ์

ที่่�จะรัับนิิสิิตได้้ 10,000 คนในระยะยาว

ผลงานอัันโดดเด่่นของท่่านที่่�มีีต่่อวิิทยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสนคืือ การเวนคืืนที่่�ดิินกำำ�แพงแสนตามพระราชกฤษฎี ี

การกำ�ำ หนดเขตเวนคืนื ที่่�ดินิ กำำ�แพงแสน เพื่่อ� การศึึกษาและความเจริญิ มั่่น� คงของมหาวิทิ ยาลััยเกษตรศาสตร์์ กรณีนี ี้้ท� ่่าน
ได้้ดำ�ำ เนิินการอย่่างจริิงจััง ในปีี พ.ศ. 2510 ถึึงแม้้ว่่าจะไม่่สามารถซื้�้อที่่�ดิินตามที่่�กำำ�หนดไว้้ได้้ แต่่การริิเริ่�มดำ�ำ เนิินการ
ของท่่านนั้้�นถืือว่่าเป็็นก้้าวสำ�ำ คััญที่่�ส่่งผลให้้ผู้้�บริิหารชุุดต่่อมาสานงานต่่อ จนทำ�ำ ให้้ที่่�ดิินของวิิทยาเขตกำ�ำ แพงแสนได้้รัับ
การพัฒั นาอย่่างต่่อเนื่่อ� ง มีีความเจริญิ มั่่�นคงเป็็นปึกึ แผ่่นจนถึงึ ปััจจุบุ ััน

During the term that M.L. Xujati Kambhu was the President of Kasetsart University, the
university re-construction and expansion plan had been according to the National Economic and
Social Development Plan. The first five-year plan (1967-1971) was to accept more students to 5,000
students, and the second five-year plan (1972-1976) was to accept students to 10,000 students
according to the University Council resolution that assigned as follows:

1. The requirements of academic personnel who hold a bachelor degree in various fields
of agriculture more than 400 people.

2. The expansion of student admission more than 5,000 students in the future at Kasetsart
University.

3. Providing a land for proceeding the extension of university work plan according to the
third National Economic and Social Development Plan (1972 - 1976).

When M.L. Xujati Kamphu assumed the KU President, an important mission that he
performed and was considered a contribution to both KU and KU KPS were first of all was to apply
for a loan from the World Bank for the development of KU. With his broad vision, he argued that the
soil at Kamphaeng Saen was good, deep, well absorbed and drained well suitable for the needs of
various plants; moreover, livestock raising and freshwater fishing could be done. The Royal Irrigation
Department received a loan from the World Bank to develop a dam in Kanchanaburi Province; therefore,
it would be able to build irrigation canals directly to KU KPS to have water for use all year round.

In addition, the Royal Irrigation Department could cut a road from Malaiman Road on the east side
so 3 sides of KU KPS are 3 roads.

In response to the KU expansion plan according to the resolution by KU Council, M.L. Xujati
Kambhu bought lands in Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom for the purpose of Kasetsart
University Council resolutions with the following reasons:

1. The soil in the area of Kamphaeng Saen District was the arable land.
2. This area would be provided by irrigation canals from Mae Klong Dam (formerly
Vajiralongkorn Dam).
3. The land territories connected to Chandrubeksa Road in the north, Irrigation Department
Road in the south, Nakhon Pathom – Suphanburi railroad in the west, and Malaiman Road in the east.
4. The chosen land was about 20 kilometers to downtown Nakhon Pathom and 80 kilometers
to Bangkok.
5. The chosen land was approximately 3,200 acres which was suitable for establishing a
long-term campus with 10,000 students.
At present, the results have been seen that vision to create prosperous development for KU
in particular, KU KPS are all realized and accomplished as he has initiated.
His outstanding works with KU KPS are The expropriation of Kamphaeng Saen land according
to the Royal Decree of Determination of the Land Expropriation Zone in Kamphaeng Saen for the
education and prosperity of KU. In this case, he had done it seriously in 1967, even though he could
not purchase all the land as specified. But his initiative was a significant step that resulted in the
subsequent management to continue the work until the land of the KU KPS has been developed
continuously with prosperity and stability until now.

Since 1967, it can be concluded that KU KPS historical development has been over 5 decades
as follows:

1. The 1st Decade: Initial Phase (1967 - 1976)
2. The 2nd Decade: Phase of Commitment and Creation (1977 - 1986)
3. The 3rd Decade: Phase of Cooperation and Exchange (1987 - 1996)
4. The 4th Decade: Phase of Stability and Sustainability (1997 - 2006)
5. The 5th Decade: Phase of Academic Extension and Advancement
(1997 - 2016) and
6. The 6th Decade: Phase of Inspiration Development and Community Service
(2017 -present)

1. The 1st Decade: Initial Phase (1967 - 1976)

KU under the leadership of M.L. Xujati Kambhu the then president, began to carry out a
policy to expand its missions to another campus in 1967. Thus, a vast plot of land in Kamphaeng
Saen district, Nakhon Pathom province was acquired and provided for founding a training station run
by Department of Animal Husbandry for farm practice of students in Faculty of Agriculture. Efforts to
develop the university continued; a master plan for KU development during 1968 - 1974 was designed
and carried out with assistance from Rockefeller Foundation.

In October 3, 1968; Adjunct Prof. Insee Chandrastitya, the next president to M.L. Xujati Kambhu,
submitted the KU development plan with assistance from Rockefeller Foundation to government for
approval and sought to apply for loan from the World Bank to carry out the plan.

Later in the administration under H.S.H. Chakrabandh Pensiri Chakrabandhu, another next
president, the preparation for the KU development plan was completed in April 1970.

After the application for the loan in detail had been passed in December 1971, an agreement
in the loan for the KU development plan was signed by both the Thai government and the World Bank
on May 24th, 1972. Also, back then, a National Center for Research and Training in Swine Production
which was not included in the plan was founded according to the cooperation between KU and the
Livestock Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives however.

The KU development plan depending on the World Bank’s loan started to be implemented.
A company of De Monte-Rader & Associates, USA was hired on November 21, 1972 to formulate
a master plan for KU development for both campuses of Bangkhen in Bangkok and Kamphaeng Saen
in Nakhon Pathom. The master plan was based on the land area of 800 and 7,841 rais (320 and
3136.14 acres, respectively) of Bangkhen and Kamphaeng Saen campuses respectively. It consisted
of 4 phases of 5 years to complete; and was expected that in the end of the plan Bangkhen and
Kamphaeng Saen campuses could afford to contain 8,000 - 10,000 and 12,000 - 15,000 students
respectively. Most of the implementation of the KU development plan based on the World Bank’s
loan was carried out in the administration under Prof. Rapee Sagarik, the then president and
under supervision by Prof. Dr. Watthana Sathiansawat, the 1st vice-president for Kasetsart University,
Kamphaeng Saen campus (KU KPS) who was appointed on January 20, 1976. This can be regarded as
the beginning of administration on KU KPS.

in terms of landscape and infrastructure development, construction of some more research and
development centers and stations and student movement from Bangkhen campus to begin the KU
KPS mission in learning and teaching. As follows are 5 former KU KPS Vice presidents who have been

KU KPS development in the 2nd decade under the administration of above 5 Vice presidents
is summarized as follows:

2.1 Landscape Development
2.1.1 Getting started in 1976, constructions of infrastructure systems consisting of
the 34 meter high Water Supply Tower (or the KU KPS landmark) for the capacity of 1,000 m3 for
water reservation, on-campus electricity supply system for academic area, students’ dormitories,

lecturer and staff housing, the demonstration school, and an experimental station were done. As for
the roads, such on-campus ones as the main road to link with the Malaimaen Rd., other minor and
service roads, and the roads connected with the academic complex were constructed. In addition,
the drainage systems for rain water and sewage and the system for telecommunication were begun.

2.1.2 Building Development: Getting started in 1977, constructions of on- campus
buildings were done consisting of an administrative building, an infirmary, a gymnasium together
with a swimming pool, a center for students’ activities, a service center, a canteen, a central library,
a building complex of Faculty of Agriculture, a building complex of Faculty of Engineering, a central
lecture hall, a building complex of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, boy-girl dormitories with a cafeteria,
lecturer houses, a faculty and staff club, staff houses and a laboratory school (elementary education).

2.1.3 On August 11, 1986, the opening ceremony of the water gate from
outside irrigation system to enter the on-campus system was officially held and called the Water
Flowing Day.

2.2 Development of General Administration and Cooperation with Other Agencies
2.2.1 Also getting started in 1977, constructions of on- campus buildings were done
from the Grant Aid by Japanese Government consisting of the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse
Complex, the Agricultural Machinery Center and the Agricultural Extension and Training Center.
2.2.2 On April 18, 1980, the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex was
officially presented by a Japanese ambassador to H.S.H. Chakrabandu Pensiri Chakrabandu, the then
president of the KU Council.
2.2.3 On December 20th, 1980, the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex
was established.
2.2.4 In April 1981, the National Agricultural Extension and Training Center and the
National Agricultural Machinery Center were officially presented by a Japanese attache’ to H.S.H
.Chakrabandu Pensiri Chakrabandu, the then president of the KU Council.
2.2.5 In 1982, a project of Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center in
Thailand which was cooperation between KU and the Asian Vegetable Research and Development
Center and was supported by the grant aid of the Asian Development Bank was begun.
2.2.6 On April 4, 1984, research hardware and other materials for the National
Agricultural Machinery Center under the Japanese Grant Aid were officially presented by a Japanese
ambassador to H.E. Mr. Preeda Patthanathabut, the then Minister for the University Bureau.

2.3 Development of Learning and Instruction, Research and Academic Services
2.3.1 Student Movement: In the 2nd semester, academic year 1979, on the 5th of
November, 3rd - 4th year students in the B.Sc. in agriculture and agricultural education programs, B.Eng.
(Agricultural Engineering), B.Eng. (Irrigation) and 5th – 6th year students in veterinary medicine program
were moved to KU KPS Then KPS’s learning and instruction have started since November 12th, 1979.
2.3.2 On June 10, 1980, to comply with the resolution by KU’s meeting of the Deans,
the following work units were moved to KPS:

1) The secretary office and all academic departments in the Faculty of
Agriculture which were responsible for the B.Sc. (Agriculture) and graduate study programs.

2) The Departments of Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering in the Faculty
of Engineering.

3) The Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery in the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine.

4) The B.S. (Agricultural Education) in the Faculty of Education.
In addition, coordinating offices for the Faculties of Agriculture, Engineering and Education
were set up.
2.3.3 In June 1980, 4th year students in the B.S. (Agricultural Economics) were moved
back to Bangkhen.
2.3.4 On July 15, 1980, another KU Laboratory School was officially founded on KPS
campus.
2.3.5 In academic year 1984, 2nd year students in the B.S. (Agriculture) program were
moved to KPS.
2.3.6 During 3rd - 6th February 1983, the National Agricultural Fair was firstly
organized outside Bangkok on the KPS campus and officially opened by H.E. Mr. Chuan Leekpai, the
then Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives.

3. The 3rd Decade: Phase of Cooperation and Exchange (1987 - 1996)

After campus landscape, lecturers and staff housing, student dormitories, and
infrastructure and inside-campus irrigation had been completed, in the 3rd decade of KU KPS
development therefore focused on learning and instruction; in particular, Faculty of Liberal Arts and
Science was founded to facilitate the learning and instruction of basic courses. The 5 former vice
presidents were involved in this decade.

KU KPS development in the 3rd decade under the administration of above 5
Vice presidents is summarized as follows:

3.1 Development of Buildings, Landscape and Environment
3.1.1 On October 3, 1988, construction of lecturer and staff condominiums began.
3.1.2 In the fiscal year 1989, KPS was provided with budget for land and buildings as
follows: 1) Construction of the Faculty of Education at Kamphaeng Saen building and 2) Construction
of central laboratory building

3.1.3 In 1992, the overall system for delivering water from Baw 1 (Reservoir 1) was
developed to produce water for consumption within the campus (in place of originally using ground
water).

3.1.4 In 1993, Prof. Dr. Sangar Sabbasri, the then president of the KU Council
officially presided over the opening ceremony of the Tropical Fruit Garden in Honor of the 60th
Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit at the Central Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex.

3.1.5 On September 3, 1994, the Dhamma Building was officially opened for Dhamma
practice and promotion of Buddhism.

3.1.6 In 1996, the KU symbol of Phra Pirun (God of Rain and Farming) on Naga’s
(a serpent deity) back was constructed in the middle of the circular pond in front of Faculty of
Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen.

- The Suan Saen Palm Park with a wide variety of palms in celebration of the
golden jubilee of His Majesty Rama IX’s reign was developed in the area of the National Agricultural
Extension and Training Center.

- The Laboaratory and Research Center for Agricultural, Food and Irrigation
Engineering was set up.

3.1.7 On Tuesday 4th of June in 1996, there were celebrations and offerings to the
god to reside in the KU symbol of Phra Pirun on Naga’s (a serpent deity) back.

and National Security Directorate and was officially opened by H.E. Mr. Suthep Thuagsuban, the then

3.3 Development of Learning and Instruction, Research and Academic Services
3.3.1 In academic year 1988, 2nd year students in the B.S. (Agricultural Education)
program were moved to KU KPS.
3.3.2 On October 6, 1989, the Cabinet approved of two additional divisions of the
Office of the KU President, namely the Administrative Division (Kamphaeng Saen) and the Educational
Services Division (Kamphaeng Saen).
3.3.3 On October 31, 1989, the resolution by KU’s meeting of the Deans approved
of that the 1st year students in the B.S. in agriculture and agricultural education programs only those
under the special quota projects were to move to KU KPS from the academic year 1990 onwards.
3.3.4 In academic year 1990, the 1st year students in the B.S. in agriculture and

3.3.5 In 1991, an Aquaculture Laboratory Station under the Department of
Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries was set up.
3.3.6 On September 30, 1991, the Suwanvajokkasikit Institute of Research and
Development of Livestock and Animal Products was established.
3.3.7 In 1992, a Tropical Fruit Orchard for research and learning and instruction was
founded.
3.3.8 The Student Activities Building of Educational Services Division (Kamphaeng
Saen) was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Sutham Areekul, the then president on January 21, 1992.
3.3.9 On August 31, 1993, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science was established
according to an announcement in the Royal Thai Government Gazette.
3.3.10 In academic year 1995, the 1st year students in the B.S. in agriculture and
agricultural education (regular) programs, and 2nd - 3rd year students in the B.Eng. in agricultural, food,
and irrigation engineering were moved to KU KPS.
3.3.11 KU KPS officially hosted the 20th Thailand University Games during January
8 -15, 1993.

4. The 4th Decade: Phase of Stability and Sustainability (1997 - 2006)

KU KPS gracefully entered the 4th decade (1997 - 2006) thanks to the great endeavors of the
1st - 3rd decade. In the 4th decade then, KU KPS stood out academically in agriculture, was an academic
institution with a good reputation and there were concrete achievements in every area under the
approach of “continue the unfinished and create the new”. More importantly, morality was used as
a solid and important foundation in the administration following the 3 previous decades.

In terms of administration, there were 9 new work units autonomously manageable at KU
KPS including 4 faculties, 3 offices and 2 divisions. It was regarded as administrative autonomy of
KU KPS that was fast, highly efficient and effective. In addition, then, KU KPS properly founded the
autonomously financial and budgetary management.

In terms of education, totally 41 educational programs in all bachelor, master and doctoral
degrees were launched and revised. Academic cooperation between KU KPS and public and private
sectors and communities in neighborhood was promoted. Moreover, KU KPS paid attention to students
and developed them to be perfect graduates through training and seminars, activities for building
capacity and experience, providing sources of scholarship, promoting them to become an E-Student
and promoting sports activities for health among both students and personnel.

As for arts and culture preservation in the 4th decade, KU KPS, together with students,
personnel, neighboring communities, and government agencies had given the importance of organizing
activities to honor the royal family and activities to preserve Thai national arts and culture.

During this decade KU KPS prepared its personnel in the field of teaching, research and
academic services to make itself to become an E-University and focused on management, enhancing
the quality of life and developing a beautiful environment. Then KU KPS management was under 2
Vice presidents consisting of:

1. Assoc. Prof. Dr.Vichai Korpraditsakul (June 8, 1996 - June 7, 2002)
2. Assoc. Prof. Dr.Thongchai Mala (June 8, 2002 – March 1, 2007)

The performance of KU KPS development in the 4th decade is summarized as follows:
4.1 Development of Buildings, Landscape and Environment
4.1.1 On 4th August, 2000, a garden which was developed and named “100- year
Garden” in celebration of 100th Birthday Anniversary of H.R.H Princess Srinagarindra, the King Rama
IX’s mother was officially opened.
4.1.2 On November 12, 2001; 2 on-campus main roads of Xujati Kambhu and
Watthana Sathiensawat, KU KPS Archive and a statue monument to M.L. Xujati Kambhu, the KU KPS
founder were officially opened.
4.1.3 KU KPS Development of Buildings, Landscape and Environment Projects
from 2002 to 2005 included the development of small clustered gardens in front of the campus
(Malaimaen Gate) and Fueng Fah Road from the gate entering inside (2002), planting, repairing and
modifying the Chomphu Phanthip Road from the Irrigation Gate to the Tropical Vegetable Research
and Development Center (2003), cleaning and refurbishing all roads around the campus along a
distance of approximately 16 kilometers to ensure safety for students, personnel, and to create beauty
and convenience for general traffic and ecotourism (2003); developing beauty and order at the edge
of Baw 1 (Reservoir 1), draining the canal around the campus with cooperation and assistance from
the Royal Irrigation Department (2003 - 2005), the dredging Baw 5 (Reservoir 5 in front of the campus)
and the soil obtained from the excavation brought to form a mound to decorate the area with some
help of tools and budget from the Royal Irrigation Department (2004 - 2005)
4.1.4 Again on 1st October, 2003, H.E. Mr. Amphol Senanarong, a Privy Council
member and the KU Council President came to officially open the Insect Dome in Honor of His

4.1.5 In 2003, the paddy-seed-shape national flag pole of KU KPS which was 24
meters high, made of 12-C stainless steel and designed by Assist. Prof. Thongpan Poonsuwan was
installed in front of the Xujati Kambhu building.
4.1.6 On November 12, 2003, the KU KPS Foundation Day, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viroch
Impitaksa, the then KU President came to chair the opening ceremony of KU KPS Hall of History.
4.1.7 KU KPS Golf Course was renovated in 2004 by adding 3 more holes together
with improving rough and fairways, old greens (6 holes) and some swamps and bridges with financial
support by private sectors.
4.1.8 KU KPS Central Canteen was renovated in 2004 by heightening the roof,
enlarging the dining area to be more spacious and separating the restaurant operators from the dining
seats.
4.1.9 KU KPS Historical Plate which was made in 2004 and placed on the ground
between the national flag pole and the Xujati Kambhu Administrative Building was officially opened
in 2006.

4.1.10 The Learning Building of KU KPS which has been constructed on the front of
campus in 2005 consists of the main and minor buildings. In the main building, there are two stories
including several rooms for multi-purpose uses. Between the main and minor buildings, there are
a small area for an audience and a stage for the show. In the minor building, there are food and
souvenir shops.

เห็น็ สมควรว่่า วิิทยาเขตกำำ�แพงแสนมีีความพร้้อมในทุกุ ๆ ด้้าน ทั้้ง� บุุคลากร สถานที่่� นิิสิิต และวิชิ าการ จึงึ กำ�ำ หนดเป็็น

4.2.8 ดััดแปลงและพััฒนารถยนต์์ จากเครื่่�องรถยนต์์เก่่า จำ�ำ นวน 2 คััน ใช้้น้ำ�ำ� มัันไบโอดีีเซล
(พ.ศ. 2548) เป็็นรุ่�นแรก และใช้้สัญั จรอยู่่�ภายในวิทิ ยาเขตเพื่่อ� รองรัับนิสิ ิติ และบุุคลากร

4.2 Development of General Administration and Cooperation with Other Agencies
4.2.1 On 3rd December, 1999 the 8th National Beef Fair was held again on KPS campus
and the Center for Demonstration of Comprehensive Beef Production was founded.
