"If your world looks gloomy
and you are feeling grin and glum,
Make a rainbow for yourself,
Don't wait for one to come,
Don't sit watching at the window
for the clouds to part
There'll soon be a rainbow if
you start one in your heart."
The whole idea of the DIS E-Magazine is solely based on nurturing the creative pursuits of our children. It’s to provide them
with one more platform to showcase their latent talents and make use of the skills they possess. A school’s magazine if not
aimed at making the students learn beyond the classroom doors is an unavailing entity. So, the first and foremost purpose
of providing the platform is to help the Dunites scrub their brain and explore.
The DIS E-Magazine’s content revolves around the four core values set where each school’s house collected the entries as
per the core values- ‘Passion for Excellence, Reflective learners, Proactive Innovators, Global Citizenship’. This is the time of
great changes. In education too we see fast changes. The student today is an individual, is a real person with feelings of
self-respect, sensitivity, responsibility and compassion. We need to recognize, appreciate, applaud and foster the fine blend
of sensibilities in a child- and thus the themes in this magazine have a well-structured aura of such value to encourage
students to benefit from by sharing their work.

• The E-Magazine is also aimed at achieving the school’s objectives and the
houses’ motto. All the students and stakeholders were taken on board before
collecting any resources for the magazine to make it a meaningful and learning
centered product. Dunes International School’s motive is to “Innovate an Excel”
and hence a glimpse of it is evident in its Magazine as well. Dunes international
school is dedicated to providing the best learning opportunities for each and
every student and its intention is to empower them with the skills and social
competencies that will enable them to flourish as they grow up. With the
Magazine initiative, we have encouraged students to learn about themselves
and their constantly changing environment, while at the same time offering
support and guidance as they practice decision-making and social skills.
• The school is extremely grateful to all the stakeholders and those involved in
bringing out the E-magazine to its publication stage and adding another step of
glory into our ever-enthusiastic educational journey. We do take pride in
providing the best and promise to continue with the same zeal and desire to be
on the top of the ladder.

• Welcome to the second edition of the annual E-Magazine of Dunes International School. We are extremely
exuberant and proud to acclaim that we are ready with all new aspirations and hues to bring out the second issue,
which is going to surely unfold the unraveled world of the most unforgettable and precious moment of the school.
• The magazine is to be viewed as a launch pad for the children’s creative urges to blossom naturally. As famously
said minds are like parachute and work best when opened, the E-magazine initiative would surely set the budding
minds free to roam in the realm of imagination and experience to a world of beauty in words.
• The enthusiastic write ups of our Dunites are indubitably sufficient to hold the interests and admiration of the
readers. We are sure that the positive attitude, hard work and innovative ideas exhibited by our young buddies
will surely stir the readers and take them on a journey of joy and pleasure. We have put in tremendous efforts to
bring excellence to this piece.
• We truly recognize, appreciate and foster the fine blend of sensibilities and talent into a bright and expectant. The
magazine also espouses the school’s spirit which is built up within the school through collective actions, thoughts
and aspirations. All these, we believe would spur higher growth and enterprise in children. It gives us immense
pleasure to ensure that this magazine has successfully accomplished its objective. The reflection of the students’
creativity and thoughts that are too deep to be expressed and too strong to be suppressed.

• This magazine is before you due to the combined efforts of the Editorial Board and we
take the opportunity to thank all the contributors as their contribution is the reason that
makes this magazine endearing with our readers. This herculean task of editing this
school magazine would not have been possible without the sincere support of the
members of the Editorial Board who sorted of the articles and entries from the flood of
articles we had got from our enthusiastic and inquisitive young writers, edited them and
finally made a fair draft of them. We are thankful to all our colleagues and a special
mention of our secondary school students whose enormous contribution in the editorial
panel has made it to the shore of publication.
• We are really thankful to our respected Principal Mr. Paramjit Ahluwalia for entrusting us
with the responsibility of editing. We take this opportunity to thank all the School’s SMT
members for sparing their valuable time to extend a hearty support for the magazine with
their flamboyant ideas. We heartily wish all the readers our best wishes and hope this
magazine will enjoy your critical acclaim and prove itself to play a vital role in the all-
round development of the children.
Principal's Message
Dear Readers,
The thought – Home is the first school and School is the second home, has
always bewildered me. In fact, these two years, I saw it practically happened.
Coronavirus has altered our life including our school system, teachers, children
and parents. Our homes have become schools and parents have become
teachers too. It is never a replacement of the actual education but it surely has
been the best solution to the crisis we are in. The school’s premises are eagerly
waiting to be once again filled with the joy of our lovely children without any
barriers. The constraints shall vanish soon.
We live today in a world that is so very different from the one we grew up in,
the one we were educated in. The world of today is changing at such an
accelerated rate and we as educators need to pause and reflect on this entire
system of education. Are we well-equipped to prepare our children to face the
challenges that the future holds? Questions such as these are factors that
motivate us to go through a continuous process of reflection and we at Dunes
International School work at implementing a well-balanced curriculum to
ensure that the children who walk into the portals of our schools will not just
love their school years but truly be prepared to face life’s challenges.
• Our preparedness during the current covid waves is a testimony to this. I would love to quote Margret
Mead here who said “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think”.
• At Dunes our prime focus revolves around Aristotle’s famous saying that, “Educating the mind without
educating the heart is no education at all.”
• To impart education is to equal the ever-changing course of literacy i.e. advancement in technology,
globalization and we march our little ones ahead with DIS’s ethos of moral values and principles. Our
primary focus is to help them grow and develop into sensitive and responsible citizens of the future.
• We are extremely lucky to have a committed and supportive management, well-versed teachers, caring
and cooperative parents which blend harmoniously to create a child-centric school. The variety of
thinking activities, strategies and group dynamics would naturally find its way into such an ambience and
it does help the classroom to be alive, the school to function smoothly in no matter how trivial the
circumstances can be. Dunes international school believes in community involvement and our initiatives
to get them on board are vital. I have always reiterated that our parents keep us moving and have always
been with us in their children’s learning processes.
• The DIS E-magazine idea is a milestone that marks our growth, unleash our power of imaginations and it
does give life to our thoughts and aspirations. It unfolds a wide spectrum of creative skills ranging from
writing to editing and even in designing the magazine to present it on a virtual platform. It truly is one
more opportunity of the numerous others that provides our students to showcase their latent talents and
present themselves as the 21st century learners who are not limited to the textbooks but beyond that. I
whole heartedly congratulate the entire editorial team for their hard work and dedication that resulted
in publication of this E-magazine.
