I have been the Director of the Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research at the Corvinus University of Budapest (www.rekk.
eu) since 2004. I received my MSc in economics from the Budapest University of Economic Sciences in 1987 and my PhD from
the same University in 2015 on the topic of gas market restructuring in Hungary. In 1998 I was appointed as Chief of Cabinet
of the Minister of Economic Affairs and started to work on the liberalization of the electricity and gas sectors in Hungary. In
January 2000 I became the President of the Hungarian Energy Office, the national energy regulator. Between 2000 and 2004
I also served as the Chairman of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA), an association of energy regulatory
institutions of countries from Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS and South East Europe (www.erranet.org). Since 2004 I
have been serving as Training Director for ERRA’s in-house energy regulatory training. I am also directing a postgraduate
program in Energy Economics at Corvinus University since 2010. I am a regular lecturer at the Florence School of Regulation and
member of the FSR Policy Advisory Council. In 2011 I was appointed as alternate member of ACER’s (Agency for the
Cooperation of Energy Regulators) Board of Appeal. My major research fields are energy economics, regulation and modelling

of network industries and environmental economics.

Rob KROON

After graduating from Fontys Universities (Eindhoven) in Automotive Management, Rob has developed himself as an
experienced project manager in the field of sustainable mobility and transport. He is working as a project manager/consultant
at FIER Automotive since 2011. At FIER, Rob is involved in different (national and international) projects, mainly focussing on
overall project management and his role as an EV expert. Next to that, he is also involved in tasks like conducting research
studies, workshop leader, communication and dissemination, et cetera.

Concepts at German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stuttgart, Germany. Besides, he is the designated National Scientific Delegate of
Germany (Alternate) for the HEV TCP ‘Hybrid and Electric Vehicle’ within the Framework of the International Energy Agency.
Together with his Team, he works on new vehicle concepts for road and rail with a focus on energy, emissions and costs. The
vision for his research is to identify technical and economic sound and sustainable pathways for the transport sector.

Dr. Ir. Steven HAVEMAN

University of Twente

Dr. Ir. Steven Haveman holds a Doctoral Degree as well as a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, both achieved at the
University of Twente in the Netherlands. His doctoral research, titled “COMBOS: Communicating Behaviour of Systems”,
established a method to communicate system behaviour of large and complex systems towards multiple stakeholders
during conceptual systems design. Steven has worked as a technical Systems Engineering lead responsible for developing
Automated Guided Vehicle Systems for applications in warehouses and factories. His current research focuses on
clarifying the complex electric and smart mobility ecosystems by capturing these in usable models and architectures for

various stakeholders.

During my carrier I worked and gained experience in multinational and multicultural environments as project team member
and leader. I learned how to turn ideas into business in a complex environment, particularly when combined technical and
business approach is necessary. The last 10 years’ experience provided me a solid knowledge about the energy industry:

energy trade, power exchanges, power plant investment projects, business analysis, business development and M&A.
Through the process assessment activity I understood how to implement business processes in order to safeguard owners’
interest and optimize business value. Most of my assignments took place outside of Hungary: 2 years in the USA, 6-6 months
in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Central and South America, several months in various EU countries and in Egypt.
At CEMEX I witnessed how the company extended its business and operations worldwide and became a truly

He graduated as a mechanical engineer and has been working in the energy industry since the mid 1980’s. After the years
spent at the Almásfüzítő Alumina Plant and the Institute for Energetics (EGI), from 1990 he worked as personal assistant
to the State Secretary for Energy at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and was company secretary of MVM, the Hungarian
Electricity Board. Between 1995 and 1998 he was director and member of the Board of the corporate finance boutique
Eurocorp International Finance Ltd. He joined RWE to lead the company’s Budapest Representative Office in 1998 and swit-
ched to the ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ Group from 2004, as head of strategy.
Between 1998 and 2014 he was a member of the board of directors and supervisory board at various utility companies,
including DDGÁZ, FŐGÁZ and the Budapest Waterworks.
He is a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of the Hungarian Energy Association and the Hungarian
Electromobility Association.
