and canapes as you greet the Captain
and crew. Cruise up the Hudson River,

Hudson River Valley.
Day Two: 8:30am arrive Waterford, NY entrance to
the Erie Canal and confluence of the Mohawk and
Hudson Rivers. We pass through locks 2 thru 6 for a
combined lift of 500 feet, the largest lift in the
shortest distance of anywhere in the world. The
observation deck at Lock 6 park provides a good view
of this engineering marvel. Disembark in Schenectady
for a walk through the Stockade Historic District, with
more than 100 architectural landmarks surviving
dating from 1690 to 1930. Cruise into the Mohawk
River Valley as we pass through 10 more locks. Enjoy
kayaking in the canal and cycling along the tow path
as we make our way along.
Day Three: Awake in the morning at lock 17 in scenic
Little Falls and begin your day at Historic Canal Place, a
refurbished industrial area with two 19th century stone
mill buildings, original canal-side structures, antique and
art galleries, shops, restaurants and the Little Falls
Historical Museum. Hike into Moss Island and explore
the maze of deep chimney potholes, scoured in stone by
the swirling waters. The largest ones formed thousands
of years ago some 20 feet high by waters of a huge
inland sea, leaving cathedral like formations facing the
river. Chat with the lock master at Lock 17, the highest
lock in New York State with a lift of over 40.5 feet.
Cycle to Herkimer Home State Historic Site, a Georgian
style mansion that was home to Revolutionary war hero
General Nicholas Herkimer. Arrive in charming Sylvan
Beach at Sunset.
Day Four: In the early hours of day four, we exit the Erie
Canal and make our way onto Lake Cayuga the first of the
finger lakes we explore, docking in the quaint, village of
Aurora. Enjoy strolling and cycling along the historic
main street, visiting the Mackenzie Child’s design factory,
wine tastings at Treleaven, Long Point and Hearts and
Hands. A visit to Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery to nibble
on artisanal farmstead cheeses. Pick out a pair of hand
made shoes at the Aurora Shoe Factory. Enjoy swimming
in the crystal clear glacier formed lakes.
Day Five: We gently cruise away from the
shores of Aurora and head south towards
Ithaca. Cycle into town to enjoy shopping
and strolling the “Commons” pedestrian
mall and perusing the tasty offerings at the
Farmer’s Market. Have a look at
Buttermilk Falls and enjoy hiking the
trails where you can cool off in the
swimming holes in the natural rock
formations. Enjoy lunch and craft beers at
the Ithaca Brewery in the beer garden.
After leaving Ithaca, we cruise up to
Taughannock Park to view the highest
waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains.
Enjoy wine tastings at Thirsty Owl,
Sheldrake Point Winery, Americana
Vineyard, and Swedish Hill.
Day six: We enter the Cayuga Seneca Canal and
make our way into Van Cleef Lake before
arriving in Seneca Falls, home of the Women’s
Suffragette movement and home of the Women’s
Rights National Historical Park. Disembark and
enjoy this charming canal side town. We
continue our cruise coming out into Seneca Lake.
At 632 feet deep, it is the deepest of the finger
lakes and has over 30 award winning wineries
along its shores. Docking at the northern end in
Geneva, enjoy the charming well preserved
Americana downtown. Wine tastings at Fox
Run, Lamoreaux Landing, and Herman J.
Wiemer.
