Freddie Mac says….

• The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an
unemployment rate of 3.6% in April, which
marked a 50-year low

• Real Gross Domestic Product grew at an
annual rate of 3.2% in the first quarter,
beating expectations.

• We expect GDP to grow 2.3% in 2019 before
slowing to 1.8% in 2020.

A recession occurs when there are two or more consecutive
quarters of negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

National talking points….

• House price appreciation in the first quarter of
2019 was slightly higher than previously
anticipated. This has led us to revise up our
2019 annual forecast for home price growth to
3.6%. On the other hand, we expect house
price growth to moderate to 2.6% in 2020.

• By the 4th of July ... Longest Economic
Expansion Ever



Local talking points…

• Kootenai County residential sales are down
7% YTD

• Median sales price is up 10%
• We are still not making much headway on

listings, they are down 8% from this time last
year
