Dear Parents and Carers,

Although last month was our shortest month this has not limited our
success in delivering a wide variety of experiences to our learners
and their families. Looking back at some of February’s highlights:

- P4-7 Burns Supper
- School and Irvine Burns Club Verse Speaking Competitions
- Sharing the Learning Events in P2, P5/4 and P6/5
- Family Cooking Sessions for P1-3 and then P4-7
- Read, Write, Count Family Sessions in P3
- Incredible Years Programme for Early Years Parents
- M&M Theatre Group’s Performance of The Railway Children

I would like to thank all our parents, carers and community partners
for their support in making February such a positive experience.

We welcomed back in the first week in March colleagues from
Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate. This was a planned
return visit following our Inspection in November 2018. The whole
school community have enjoyed sharing with Inspectors the
improvements that have been made since their last visit. This
Inspection has been a very positive experience and everyone is very
proud of sharing the school’s improvement agenda and successes.
As soon as the concluding letter from the Inspection Team is
received this will be shared with Parents and Carers. I would like to
thank the whole school community for their support and efforts in
delivering improvements for our pupils.

We now move forward this month and towards April’s Easter break
with our continued focus on delivering high quality experiences for
all our children and families. Included in the newsletter are
information items to ensure the best experience at school for
everyone.

Kind regards,

Paul Bleakley
Head Teacher

Registration for the early learning and childcare took place as
advertised on:

Monday 3 February 2020 – Thursday 6 February 2020
Please note that Late Registrations will still be accepted.
However, places for late applicants will be allocated after the
initial allocation of places for pupils that were registered within

the above registration window.

Children with dates of birth between 1 March 2016 and 28
February 2018 can be registered with Local Authority Early Years
establishments or Funded Providers of early learning and
childcare in North Ayrshire during this time.

Parents wishing to register their child for early learning and
childcare should apply directly to the establishment of their
choice.

A birth certificate should be produced at the time of
registration. It is not always possible to place all children in the
establishment of their choice. You will be asked to state your
second and third choice of establishment. You will also be
asked to state your preferences for the attendance patterns on
offer, over term time and/or full year options.

Please note there are no 'catchment areas' for early years
establishments and parents can choose to send their child to
the most suitable establishment, if a place is available. Also
attending an Early Years class within a primary school does not
influence whether your child will be able to transfer to that
school in Primary 1.

Please note that North Ayrshire Council operates an Admissions
Policy which clearly describes priorities. Further information on
North Ayrshire Council’s Admissions Policy and Early Years
places can be found on the North Ayrshire website, www.north-
ayrshire.gov.uk. A parental guidance booklet is also available
from the school.

Please support the school in the following areas:

We have again received a number of complaints regarding
parking outside the school gates. Please be reminded that
we encourage children to walk to school and where this is

not feasible to park and stride.
It is essential that vehicles DO NOT block access to the
Fullarton Hub or use this car park when dropping off.

To assist with the morning and afternoon
drop offs and collections the

Rear Gate Leading From Greenbank Street / Merryvale Rd
WILL BE OPEN FROM 8AM UNTIL 6PM.

This would allow access and provide some additional safe
considerate parking around this area.

As you know we have already responded to requests to
open the top gates to encourage safe walking, with options

to park and stride from Greenbank Street and Merryvale
Road. I trust with these additional options everyone will
have an alternative place to park other than at the school

gates.

- THANK YOU -
