Rome, Italy - On August 27th, 2017, Thomas
Abraham, Chairman of the Anthony R. Abraham
Foundation, had the opportunity to present to
Pope Francis a gift from the Anthony R. Abraham
Foundation that represented the commitment,
dedication and support of a historical initiative by
In Defense of Christians (IDC), a non-profit and
non-partisan human rights and advocacy
organization based in Washington DC.

IDC advocates for a Middle East in which the
rights of every person are protected and respected
regardless of religious creed, and in which the
ancient and diverse Christian and other religious
minority communities of the Middle East thrive
peacefully in their native lands. The opportunity
to present Pope Francis with a painting by
International Pop Artist, Romero Britto, commissioned by StarArt Foundation on behalf of
Anthony R. Abraham Foundation, was truly spiritually enlightening. We are humbled to have
presented this painting to Pope Francis on behalf of
IDC, and it was also rewarding to see the Pope’s
response looking at the Brittolization of his image.

In presenting the painting by Romero Britto, called
"Pope Francis-The Protector of the Poor and
Peacemaker” one who brings color to the world, I was
able to explain that a limited edition of twenty-five
Britto artist proof serigraphs were produced in support
of raising funds for IDC. It was also an honor and
privilege to have Congressman Jeff Fortenberry
and His wife present the Limited Edition Collection
for Pope Francis to bless in support of IDC.

Every step we take in life should be one celebrating
the gifts we have been given and for us to look at them
any ways we can celebrate those gifts with those in

need. I believe that this visit with Pope Frances provided for another opportunity to accept his
blessing and to know that we walk in the footsteps of millions before us that have celebrated the
gift of giving.
