How to measure the area of regular
surfaces ?

1 cm

We can use 1 cm² 1 cm sized paper
squares to measures it. The area of the
green surface below is 5 cm²

How to measure an irregular surface ?

 We can use graph paper to measure. Tick each half square, more than half
full square and full square . Then count all the tick . The estimated surface
area of the leaf is 15 square centimetres ( 15 cm² ).
