Biography of the Authors
Abdalla DakeenAbdalla received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of
Khartoum, Sudan in 1987. He obtained his M.Sc in Geology from Al Neelain University,
Sudan in 2014. Currently he is working as a G & G section head in E & P directorate at
Sudapet Company. His main interest is towards basin modeling, petroleum system analysis
and sequence stratigraphy.
Abdalla Elhag Ibrahim received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of
Khartoum, Sudan in 1976. He obtained his M.Sc. in Geophysics from King A/Alaziz
University and his Ph.D. from University of Leeds, UK. He supervised many projects of
post graduates and undergraduates since 1995. His scientific interest is mainly towards
gravity and seismic reflection methods, regional geology and geotectonics.
Abdalla Gumaa Farwa received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology – Geophysics and M.Sc. in
Geology from University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1973 and 1978 respectively. He gained
a diploma degree in Geology from University of Bordeaux-1, France in 1980. Currently,
he is working as Associate Professor of geophysics in the University of Khartoum. His
scientific interest is mainly towards gravity field and sedimentary basins evolution with
special interest in earth science education.
Abdel Halim Hassan El-Nadi received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Geology
from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1971 and 1980 respectively. He obtained his
Ph.D. from Nottingham University, U. K., in 1984 in Geology. Currently, he hols a post
of a Professor in the University of Khartoum. His scientific interest is mainly towards
basement geology and geotectonic and their mineral potentialities.
Abdellatif Ahmed Wadidi received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of
Khartoum, Sudan in 2001. He joined BGC in 2004, WNPOC in 2005 and Sudapak Co.
2009 as exploration team leader. Currently, he is working as Geophysical section head in
Staroil Co. His interest is mainly towards seismic 2D/3D data interpretation and mapping,
prospect generation and hydrocarbon resource assessment.
Adil Ali Ibrahim received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Khartoum,
Sudan in 1981. He has a long experience in Muglad, Melut and Blue Nile Basins. He
worked in Chevron Sudan and Egypt for many years as well as in the oil companies in
Yemen, Sultanate of Oman & UAE (Abu Dhabi). Currently, he is working as the Director
of the E&P Division, Sudapet Co. His scientific interest is mainly towards hydrocarbon
exploration and development.

Basheer Ahmed Elubid Easia received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Hydrogeology from Al
Neelain University, Sudan in 2004 and his M.Sc. in Applications of Remote sensing and
GIS in Water Resources Assessment and Development, from Al Neelain University in
2012. Currently, he is working as Lecturer at Al Neelain University. His scientific interest
is mainly towards Remote sensing, GIS and their application in Hydrogeology.
Bushra Ibrahim Elhur received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Geology
from University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1983 and 1993, respectively. He worked as field
geologist at the geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS) in the period 1984-1998.
He joined the Oil Exploration & Production Authority, Sudan (OEPA) as a senior geologist
in the period 1998-2001 and then as a promotion manager (free blocks) from 2001 to
2003. Currently, he is working as Deputy Exploration Manager in Petroenergy Oil and
Gas Operating Company, Sudan. His scientific interest is toward structural geology and
geotectonics.
Derek Fairhead did Joint B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics and Geology at Durham and an M.Sc.
and Ph.D. in Geophysics at Newcastle on the seismicity of Africa and the crustal structure of
the East African Rift System based on gravity data. He is an Emeritus Professor of Applied
Geophysics. He now heads GETECH (Geophysical Exploration Technology), a division of
the University of Leeds Industrial Services Ltd., a wholly University owned company. His
main academic interests lie in Applied Geophysics: geological and geophysical controls on
sedimentary basin development within and along the margins of the continents; and crust/
mantle processes related to: rifting and break-up of continents and the influence that plate
tectonics has on continental tectonics. This involves the integration of gravity, magnetic
and seismic data.
Edin Akhmad Syaripudin received his B.Sc. in the Department of Geology, Faculty of
Earth Sciences and Mineral Technology, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia
in 2003. He worked as an Assistant Manager Middle East & Africa Area - Overseas
Team Project Management, PERTAMINA and then joined Coral Petroleum Operating
Company, Sudan as a senior geologist. His scientific interest is in petrophysical analysis
and geological modeling.
El FatihAbdallaA. Wadidi received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Surveying Engineering
from University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1993 and 2003, respectively. He gained a higher
diploma in Management from Africa Internatioal University, Sudan in 2006, and received
his MBA from University for Sciences and Technology in 2010. Currently, he is working
as GIS & DM Section Head. His scientific interest is mainly towards GIS technology and
knowledge management in oil organizations.
Farah Salih Farah received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology from
University of Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University Moscow, Russia in 1987
and 1989, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Geology and Petroleum Geochemistry
at Russian State University of Oil and Gas (Gubkin), Moscow, Russian Federation, 2009.
Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor in Al Neelain University. His scientific
interest is mainly towards Petroleum Geochemistry.

Foo Wah Yang received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Malaya,
Malaysia in 1979. He obtained his M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology, from the Imperial College,
University of London, England in 1985. He had a 30 years of solid E&P experience
in PETRONAS from 1979 till retirement in 2009 where had been engaged in various
capacity from petroleum geologist to GM/CEO of Joint Ventures. He worked at Sudapet
as E&P Advisor from 2009 to 2012. Currently, he is working as the President of Bashayer
Petroleum Operating Company (Sudan Red Sea Block 15). His scientific interest is towards
unconventional approach in marginal fields’ development utilising development-while-
exploring (DWE) techniques, mobile offshore facilities, and minimum facilities platform
for cluster fields’ development in shallow waters.
Gamal Abdalla Ali Mohammed Et Toam received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in
Geology from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1985 and 1996, respectively. He
obtained his Ph.D. from the Russian State University for Oil and Gas named after I. M.
Gubkin, Russian Federation in 2005 in Geology (Geophysics). He worked as an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Sebha University, Libya (between
2011-2014). Currently he is in charge of the Department of Higher education- Quality
Insurance in the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals, Al Neelain University. He is mainly
interested in petrophysics, seismic interpretation, gravity and geoelectrical methods.
Hiba Abdalla Mahgoub Ahmed received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the
University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1996 and 2004, respectively. She obtained her Ph.D.
in 2009 in Chemistry, from the University of Khartoum. Her scientific interest is mainly
towards downstream testing and source rock geochemistry.
Hussein Ali Ahmed Idris received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University
of Khartoum, Sudan in 2002 and his M.Sc. in Applied Geophysics from Al Neelain
University, Sudan in 2003. Currently, he is working as Section Head at the Exploration
Dept. in Petro-Energy Oil Operating Company. His scientific interest is mainly towards
seismic interpretation and petroleum system investigation.
Ibrahim Ahmed Ali Babikir received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Geology
from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1987 and 1994, respectively. He obtained his
Ph.D. from Al Neelain University/Berlin Free University, Berlin, Germany in 2006. He
is the Team Leader of the Sudapet book project. He worked as an Associate Professor of
remote sensing & GIS at the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals/Al Neelain University,
Khartoum, Sudan. Currently, working in Taibah University, Madina Munawarah, KSA.
His scientific interest is mainly towards geological applications of Remote Sensing and
GIS, Regional Geology and Sedimentology.
Imadeldin Ismail Malik Daldoom received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology & Mining from
the University of Juba, Sudan in 1999. Currently he is working as Senior Explorationist in
the White Nile Petroleum Operating Company (WNPOC). His scientific interest is mainly
towards petroleum system analysis and seismic interpretation.

Khalid Abdelrahman Elsayed Zeinelabdein received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in
Geology from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He
obtained his Ph.D. from the Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow, the Russian
Federation in 2007. Currently, he is working as an associate professor of remote sensing and
GIS at the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals, Al Neelain University, Khartoum, Sudan.
His scientific interest is mainly towards the applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in
Regional Geological mapping, hydrogeological investigations and mineral exploration.
Khalid Salih Osman Salih received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from University of
Juba, Sudan in 1999. Currently, he is working as Senior Explorationist in the White
Nile Petroleum Operating Company (WNPOC). His scientific interest is mainly towards
petroleum system analysis and 2D/3D seismic interpretation.
Mahir Khalil Abd El Fatah received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University
of Juba, Sudan in 1996. Worked as staff geoscientist in PETRONAS Carigali, SDN and
have been seconded to Yemen, Ethiopia and Cameroon. He worked for Sudapak, Sudapet
company, Sudan from 2007 to 2012 as consultant exploration geologist. Currently, he
is working as exploration manager, OEPA, Ministry of Petroleum, Sudan. His scientific
interest is mainly towards prospect generation, reservoir geology & modeling and resource
classification.
Mohamed Mohamed Hamid Ahmed received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Geology
from the University of Juba, Sudan in 1995 and 2008, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D.
in Structural Geology 2013 from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Currently, seconded
by Sudapet Company to work in Petro-Energy Oil Operating Company in a capacity of
deputy exploration manager. His scientific interest is mainly towards Structural Geology.
Mohamed Zayed Awad received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology and M.Sc. in Geology
from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1984 and 1987, respectively. He obtained
his Ph.D. in Biostratigraphy from Institute of Earth Sciences, Technical University of
Berlin, Germany in 1994. He is an Assistant professor at the university of khartoum,
Sudan. He has a long working experience in the petroleum sector of the Sudan. He worked
as Exploration Manager in APCO, OEPA, Sudapet Co. Ltd., E&P General Manager in
Selima Co. and as Vice President in APCO, CORAL, STAROIL and Al-Sudan Energia
Oil Operating Company. Currently, he is leading the oil sector as Minister of Petroleum
and Gas. His scientific interest is mainly towards stratigraphy, petroleum geology and
petroleum geostatistics.
Muna Ghaboush Mohamed El Dawi received her B.Sc., in Faculty of Science, Al
Mansoura University, Egypt, 1990. She gained a M. Sc. degree in Geology (Geophysics),
Faculty of Science, University of Khartoum, 1998. She obtained her Ph.D. in Geophysics
(Gravity and Magnetic), Faculty of Geomatics and Information Technology, University of
Geosciences, China, 2005. Currently, she is working as Associated professor, Al Neelain
University, Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals, Department of Geophysics, Khartoum.
Her scientific interest is mainly towards gravity and magnetic geophysical applications.

Musab Mohamed Elmahi Eltahir received his B.Sc. in Geology from Al Neelain
University, Sudan in 2000 and his M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology from the University
of Khartoum, Sudan in 2007. Currently, he is working as a Development Geologist in
Greater Nile Petroleum Operation Company. His interest is mainly towards reservoir
characterization.
Mutwakil Nafi Fadil Elmula received his B.Sc. in Geology from the University of
Sebha, Libya in 1990. He gained a M. Sc. degree in Sedimentology from the University
of Khartoum, Sudan in 1997. He obtained his Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology from China
University of Geosciences, China in 2003. He is employed as a Lecturer at the University
of Dongola since 1997, later promoted to Assistant Professor in 2005 . He worked at
the Eritreaian Institute of Technology (EIT), College of Engineering and Technology,
Department of Mining Engineering, Asmra between 2011-2014. Currently, he holds a post
of Associate Professor at the University of Dongola, Faculty of Earth Science and Mining.
His scientific interest is mainly towards sedimentology and stratigraphy.
Naila Mohamed Osman Babiker is a director of the Seismological Research Institute,
National Centre of Research in Khartoum, Sudan. She received B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc.
degrees in geology from the University of Khartoum in 1994 and 1998, respectively. She
was awarded a doctoral degree at the Sudan Academy in 2010 for a dissertation on seismic
hazards. She joined the Seismological Research Institutes in 1996 as a research assistant
and she holds a position of Assistant Professor since 2010.
NourAlla Elamin Babiker Ahmed received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the
University of Khartoum, Sudan in 2002. He is currently working as a Geophysicist in
Sudapet Company. His interest mainly is towards seismic interpretation, sedimentology
and G & G prospect generation.
Omer Babikir Abdel Rahim received his B.Sc., in Applied Geology from the Faculty
of Science, Damascus University, Syria in 1993. He got a Higher Diploma in General
Geology with special emphasis on Petroleum Geology as well as an M.Sc. in Geology
from the University of Khartoum in 1997 and 1999, respectively. He worked as exploration
geologist at the Geological Research Authority of Sudan between 1997-1999. Currently,
he is working at the Central Petroleum Laboratories “CPL”, Ministry of Petroleum. His
scientific interest is mainly towards biostratigraphy and sedimentology.
Omer El Badri Ali received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geology from the University
of Khartoum, Sudan in 1967 and 1972, respectively. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in
Sedimentology Palaeoecology from Reading University, U.K. in 1978. Currently he is
working as Professor in the University of Khartoum. His scientific interest is mainly
towards sedimentology, palaeontology and petroleum geology.

Ramy Saleem Eisa Abdallah received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology, from the University
of Khartoum, Sudan in 2007. He joined the Ministry of Science and Technology, as
Assistant Researcher, and later Petrodar Petroleum Operating Company as Seismic
Interpreter Geophysicist, Great Sahara Petroleum Operating Company as Seismic
Interpreter Geoscientist, Al-Sudan Energia Oil Operating Company as Seismic Interpreter
Geoscientist. Currently, he is working as Sr. Seismic Interpreter Geoscientist at Exploration
Department, Sudapet. His scientific interest is mainly towards seismic interpretation.
Ranya Elmahi Abdullah received her B.Sc. degree in geology from the University of
Khartoum in 2001, higher diploma in petroleum geology from the University of Khartoum
2002. She worked as senior geologist at Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company from
2002 -2010, worked as marketing manager (Saudi Geophysical Company) from 2012
-2015. Currently, she is working for UETMT as business manager.
Robert Bussert, received his Diploma degree and Ph.D. in Geology and Palaeontology,
TU Berlin, 1987 & 1998 respectively. He held several positions as research and Teaching
Assistant at the Technische Universität Berlin (Germany). From 2010 to 2013 he was
employed as a Senior Geologist at Gaz de France Suez E&P in Germany (Lingen).
Currently, he works as a permanent Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Applied
Geosciences,Technische Universität Berlin. His interest is towards sedimentology, regional
geology and petroleum geology of northeast Africa.
Saba Babiker Elkhalil received her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of
Khartoum in 1997. She worked at Sudapet between 2005-2015. Currently, she hold a
post of Senior Geo-modeler at Saudi Aramco Company. Her scientific interest is mainly
towards sedimentology and geo-modeling.
Safwat Elbari Elhaj received his B.Sc. in Applied Geophysics from University of
Damascus in 1995. He obtained a M.Sc. degree on Geophysics from Al Neelain University,
Khartoum, Sudan in 2012. Currently, he is working as Principle Reservoir Geophysicist in
Sudapet Company. His main interest is in seismic inversion.
Saif Elislam Suliman Mohamed Elhassan received his B.Sc. in Geology from Al
Neelain University, Sudan in 1997. He is a Senior Exploration Geologist, working in the
oil industry for more than 15 years. Currently, he is working as Section Head of Basin
Studies, Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company. His interest is towards seismic
interpretation, sequence stratigraphy and petroleum system analysis.
Sri Hartanto received his B.Sc. in Geology from InstitutTeknologi Bandung (ITB)-
Indonesia in 2002. He joined Coral Petroleum Operating Company, Sudan as Senior
Geophysicist and then as Exploration Manager. His main interest is towards seismic
interpretation, fault seal analysis and geological modeling.

Tarig Abdelrahman Abbas received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University
of Juba, Sudan in 1971 and and M.Sc. in Geology 1980 from the International Institute
for Aerospace Survey and Earth Science (ITC) Enschede the Netherlands. Currently, he
is working as Staff geologist in the basin study section, Petrodar Company. His interest is
mainly towards Basin analysis, tectonics, seismic Stratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy and
formation evaluation.

Abdalla Hamdan Elnour Mohamed received his B.Sc. in Graphic Design 2006, Sudan
University for Science and Technology. Currently, he woks as a designer in private sector.
His interest is towards Fine Art and Photography.
Ammar Abbas received his B.Sc. in geography from Al Neelain University in 2000 and
Civil Engineering Diploma from the Sudan University of Science and Technology in 2001.
He worked for the Sudan Petroleum Corporation (1996), Petroleum Ministry and White
Nile Petroleum Co. 2001. Currently, working as data management TL, sudapet. His interest
is towards the application of data management in petroleum fields.
Khalaf Allah Osman Salih Adam received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in geology and M.Sc.
degree in Geology (Palaeontology) from Al Neelain University in 2007 and 2012
respectively. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals, Al Neelain
University. His scientific interest is mainly towards vertebrate paleontology, paleoecology,
paleobiogeography and sedimentology.
Nadir Elyass Elhassan received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Survey Engineering from the
University of Khartoum, Sudan 2002. Currently, he is working as a Senior GIS Engineer in
Sudapet Company. His scientific interest is mainly towards web mapping programming and
Web GIS solutions development.
Shahd Mohamed Ahmed Yousif received her B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Computer
Science from the University of Khartoum and M.Sc. in Remote Sensing and GIS from
Sudan Academy for Sciences in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Currently she is working as a
Senior GIS Engineer in Sudapet Company. Her scientific interest is mainly towards spatial
analysis and digital image processing.
