Campus

Sports is one of the extracurricular activities that students
are looking for! Sports is a valuable part of students’
lives as it gives them lifelong benefits not only in terms of
physical fitness but goes further in the development of their
whole being. It teaches us life lessons, builds our character,
develops our interpersonal skills, and helps improve our
mental ability. It is in sports that we naturally develop
our discipline, sense of responsibility, self-confidence,
accountability, and teamwork.

ShCT through the Student Activities Department upholds
and embraces the same thought of providing students the
opportunity to develop their whole being in terms of sports.
We have the football and volleyball teams in the campus that
compete with other teams in nearby places.

It is significant to note the results of recent studies
conducted on the effect of school-based physical activity
on academic performance. “Sports positively affects one’s
studies and there is negative effect on students.”

The ShCT Student Council is composed of students’ representatives from all ShCT academic
departments. The Student Council will serve as the voice of all students in the college for all student
concerns, activities and programs.
The representatives are chosen through the electoral process using the Student Online Voting
System of Shinas College of Technology. The Student Council will function under the guidance
of Student Activities Department and with the leadership and guidance of the Assistant Dean for
Student Affairs.

The Office of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs is geared to provide support for students to
develop their capacity on various skills apart from their academic skills.

ShCT’s 7th goal states “Foster mutually beneficial constructive
partnerships with various public and private sector organizations,
professional bodies and local and international communities that
benefit the community at large.”
As an academic institution with the core duty to promote the
highest standard of education as possible, ShCT provides
training, workshops, courses, seminars and other activities to the
community and industry partners. These various activities are
handled not only by the staff but also the students through the
leadership of the Student Group’s representatives.

Club officers visited Al-Wafaa Center for the
Care of Children with Health Disabilities in
Shinas last May and November 2017 as a part
of its community service program. With the
hope to inspire and make them happy, the team
conducted various games and distributed toys,
food and gifts.

ShCT also serves as a venue for
scholarship examinations offered by
Takatuf to students in the North
Al-Batinah region.
It is also a venue for assessments
conducted by the Ministry of Civil
Defense.
Recently, Shinas has been chosen by
VALE & Takatuf as venue for
Employment Assessment.

From Theory to Application

ShCT has On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs for all students before
finishing their courses. The main objective of OJT is to formally
expose students to a real-life workplace environment. This will
help them to explore the relationship between the knowledge and
skills acquired in the college with those required in the workplace.
ShCT has partnered with industries and companies across North
Al-Batinah and nearby places to ensure that students will get the
necessary trainings which enable them to become globally prepared
in their chosen field of endeavor.

ShCT has launched the Online OJT Management System at the
start of the First Semester of Academic Year 2017-2018. This
online system aids students to do all processes online. This OJT
online System covers the entire duration of the OJT that includes
registration, submission of reports, assessments of the assigned
supervisor, and the completion of the OJT.

ShCT continues to innovate its processes to improve the experience
of students in and out of the campus!
