IN THIS ISSUE ADVENTURES AT BLACK MOSHANNON STATE PARK

Page 2 In August, over 20 residents ventured out to Black Moshannon State Park with the
Birthdays fitness crew. They were treated to a passionate, informative tour guide who took the
Rainfall group through the Bog Trail, discussing the plant, wildlife, and general history of
Poetry Corner the area. They then enjoyed some concessions (including ice-cream!) by the “beach”
My Happy Place area. After lunch, everyone walked around and enjoyed the Park a little more until
we hopped back on the bus to come home!

REACHING OUT COMMITTEE NEWS

A partial update of The Village Phone Directory will be
distributed in November. If you have any changes in your phone
number or email address, please provide that information to
the front desk asap. A new collection of resident bios will

be distributed with the phone directories. All residents are
encouraged to have bios; revisions or new bios can be sent to
Dee Vogelsong. Please call Dee at 238-2354 for information.
Wi-Fi – The Village has two free wi-fi networks for all
residents. The “Village Guest” network has no password;
simply accept terms and conditions and anyone can access
it. When it is inactive for a period it will “time out” and the user
is redirected back to the “acceptance” page. The password for the “Village Residents”
network is nittanylions; that network won’t generally “time out” like the Village Guest network.
Otherwise they are basically the same.
Website — www.retireatpennstate.org is the Village website with information for the public. If you scroll down
to the bottom right you may select the “resident log-in.” Our username is VPS and our password is resident.
On the resident pages you may view brunch and dinner menus via the dining services link and start with “News
and Info” to read announcements, monthly event descriptions and the monthly newsletter.
Philip Winsor has collected resources for communicating with people who have hearing loss. Those resources
are now stored on the window sill in the cove room for residents to read; please do not remove them. Contact
Philip at 234-6943 for more information.
A Suggestion Box is also in the cove room for resident’s use. Your suggestions may be unsigned, but if you want

4 someone to contact you regarding your comment, please provide your name.

CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES TO MAKE HEADWAY!
