W.O.W. July 2017

WITHIN OUR WORLD JULY 2017

A Monthly Publication by the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center

WPSCC TO SEAL ITS COMMITMENT TO QUALITY JULY HIGHLIGHTS
THROUGH NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
LAS VEGAS - OCT. 16-20
Though national accreditation is not commonly sought by senior INTERGENERATIONAL FINANCIAL
centers, the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center (WPSCC) is
doing just that and submitting its operations and programs for review and WORKSHOP - JULY 6, 13, 20
accreditation by the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC), the only
senior center accrediting body in the U.S.
Out of 11,000 senior centers nationwide, only 119 are currently accredited
by NISC, which will put WPSCC in a small, select group that meets NISC’s
exacting standards of excellence for senior center operations.
Ultimately, NISC says that receiving accreditation signifies that a senior
center “is in compliance with national standards for senior center practice
and is meeting its mission in an exceptionally, professional fashion.”
“We are committed to continually optimizing services and programs for
our members so they can enjoy many opportunities to enhance health,
well-being, and fellowship. Earning accreditation will keep us attuned
to innovations and best practices that are used at some of the most
esteemed senior centers in the U.S,” says Rose Richardson, WPSCC’s
Program Director.
In honor of all of our wonderful members, this is one more way that
WPSCC continually strives to raise the bar on how we deliver service and
quality that creates delight and exceeds expectations.
