The Futures Team
The futures team at East Norfolk oversees helping students with getting work experience, making a
choice about what they want to do after college, and finding it e.g. finding a university course,
finding an apprenticeship or work placement.

‘The Extend Programme is for students who are aiming to get into a highly competitive university and

up to degree level, allowing students to either successfully enter a job or university after their
studies at East Coast.

Hundreds of students from ECC, every year, go on to University or an apprenticeship, into
work and build very successful careers.
How many courses are currently running at East Coast College?
There are 28 courses available for 16 to 19 year olds and 30 courses available for 19 years and older
students.
What additional support is on offer?
There is support available for wellbeing of students, with phone numbers available to use to contact
the team at East Coast. There is also a list of phone numbers of places students can call if they need
support, for example, ‘Shout’, ‘Samaritans’ and ‘Sane Line’. They also have a Career and
Wellbeing Programme. ‘Lowestoft Sixth Form College hold the National Quality in Careers Standard
and together with East Coast College the matrix standard for provision of information, advice and
guidance (IAG). The college offers a team of professional, qualified and impartial advisors and access
to careers resources, supporting each student on their careers journey. The careers and
wellbeing programme highlights the tutorial offer, which is mapped against the Gatsby benchmarks
for good career guidance.’
Students can also get Careers advice by contacting the team or getting a 1:1 session.
They also offer support for students with special education needs or disability.
Why did I choose to go to East Norfolk?
I chose to go to East Norfolk because it is the nearest college to
my house and I can easily get the bus there, my friends were
going here too, and I wanted to study French, Creative Media
Production (Film & TV) and Art, which are courses at East
Norfolk.
What subjects am I interested in?
Outside of the courses that I am taking, the ones that interest me are Music Technology, Dance
and Fashion & Textiles.
