Foreword

This Short Story Compilation is a year-end project by
Year 6 pupils from SK Bukit Setongkol, Kuantan. Its
objectives include to cultivate writing habit among pupils,
exposing them to writing stories by guiding them ways to
plan a plot as well as to provide experience in writing short
stories in order to unearth the hidden talent.

The pupils took two weeks to plan their plot, write a draft,
edit their drafts countless times before producing their own
masterpiece. They even designed the book’s front cover.
Some wrote original stories while others developed stories
from well known plots with a little twist of their own. It had
been a wonderful journey developing this compilation,
despite just a short stint with them.

Oliver the gifted clownfish

Once upon a time, there was
an underwater world full of
fishes with different
temperaments. One of them
was Oliver. He was kind and
helpful. His ambition was to be an artist. He had a friend
named William. William was Oliver’s best friend.
Unfortunately, Oliver was stunted. He was mocked by
his classmates almost every day. But his best friend
William will cheer him out when Oliver was sad.
One day, his teacher organised a drawing contest.
Drawing and coloring had been Oliver’s hobby. He drew
every time he was bored. William wanted him to
participate in the contest to show his classmates his
talent, so he will not be ridiculed again. His classmates

said, “you’re never going to win against a stunted boy”.
“Ignore them,” said William.

Oliver participated in the contest. The drawing
contest was in two days. He practiced his best for the
contest. “Today is the day for me to shine,” said Oliver
on the contest day. He was ready. William was there to
cheer for Oliver. “The contest is about to start, try your
best Oliver!” said William to Oliver. “Thanks!” Oliver
replied. The contest started. He had to draw based on
natural scenery. He was going to draw a waterfall with
a beautiful sky and a lake. He started drawing and
trying his best to win the contest.

“Time’s up!” the teacher said. Oliver finished his
drawing right before the end of time. He was pounding
as his teacher announced the winner. “The winner is
Oliver!” said the teacher. Oliver and William were very
happy. His classmates were shocked and they

apologized to Oliver for constantly teasing him. They
learnt to never judge the book by its cover ever again.

Case of Death

Once upon a

time, in a

village on the

border of

Malaysia and

Indonesia, there was a terrible case. That is when I came

into the picture. I'm a detective. My name is Claryssa. I

am 26 years old. My hobby is reading books. That night

I was called by a police officer. He called me because

there was a murder case. Upon finding out, I rushed to

call my friends. My friends are Rizqian and Feng. Rizq is

27 years old while Zhoung Feng is 29 years old.

The next day, I went straight to the murder. I saw
many police officers waiting for me and my friends to
arrive. I saw the corpse of a shirtless man and his neck
was tied by his shirt. I asked the person who found the
corpse. The person found the corpse in his ditch. I saw
the strangulation effect on the neck of the corpse. I took
the corpse to the inquest to look for evidence. I saw
traces on the neck of the corpse and I saw something
suspicious. I asked my friend about the last case
because I found a skull emblem on the neck of the
corpse. The emblem of the skull was similar to the
emblem on a corpse in a previous murder case.

After 1 week, I was called by a police officer. He said
there was another murder case in a high-end hotel that
was only privileged for the rich people. My friends and I
went to the scene of the murder. I saw the body of an
old man in a bath tub with a lot of blood. The old man
was Nick. He was 52 years old. He was a man famous

for his wealth. I saw a knife stuck in his stomach. I also
saw a lot of incision marks on his neck and hands. There
were also crack marks on the left side of his head. I
went to the CCTV aunt to see the footage. I saw the
figure of a man greeted by Dato Nick as if they were
close friends. Dato Nick invited the man into his room.
From there, I suspected it was the man who killed Dato
Nick. My friend and I took Dato Nick's body into the
investigation room (forensic room). I also saw a skull
emblem on his neck. I feel this case is similar to the
previous case because there is a reasonable similarity
as there was a skull emblem on the neck of the corpse
too.

After getting the results from the forensic expert,
we felt the killer was the same person. We asked the
people who found the corpse. They mentioned the
characteristic features of the killer. The killer was
fair-skinned, his height was 170cm or higher, slightly

plump, brown hair and there was a skull emblem on his
neck. After getting a lot of evidence, we decided to start
an operation to find the killer. We went to Dato Nick’s
office because all the corpses killed were old people,
had a lot of money and had skull emblems around their
necks. We looked for people as seen in the CCTV
footage. We managed to narrow it down to 3 suspects.
We interrogated all three suspects and none of them
were suspicious. We also took the fingerprints of the
three suspects. We had fingerprints of the killer while
conducting the case at the hotel. Upon completion, we
returned to the investigation room to examine the
suspect’s third fingerprint. After that, we saw the
fingerprint of the killer and the fingerprint of the 2nd
suspect. They had the same fingerprint. Upon finding
out we proceeded to the office and arrested the 2nd
suspect.

After the perpetrator was arrested, the police took
the perpetrator to court. The judge said that the
perpetrator killed out of envy of the victim. The trial
lasted for 2 hours. The perpetrator pleaded guilty to the
charges. The judge decided to sentence the perpetrator
to the death penalty in section 302 of the penal code
(Act547). The families of the victims and the public were
very happy with the punishment given to the
perpetrators of the murder. The victim's family thanked
me and my friends for giving closure to the murder
victim’s family. After the killer was sentenced to death,
murders no longer occur on the border. I was relieved
that our work was done. After that, I packed my things
to go home.

Be Kind

Once upon a time, there were three children, Airah,
Daniel, and Amir. Each one of them had magic powers.
They were poor and lived in a village.

When they were four years old, a bad guy and his
gang came to the village and wanted to kill all the
people there. But, a hero saved all the people in the
village. The hero's name was Ellay. Ellay was the father
of the three children. Ellay can freeze people. Ellay
wanted to freeze the bad guy and the gang but they
escaped from Ellay. Their mom was so grateful because
the children were safe.

Everyone cried because their house was broken
and destroyed. Some of them lost their parents and
children. Many children become orphans. They wanted

revenge because the bad guy destroyed their house
and killed some of the villagers. The villagers learned
magic power from Ellay.

One year later, the bad guy and the gang came
back to the village to destroy and steal some of the
property. But the villagers defended the village. Ellay
was so angry. The bad guy and the gang were
thoroughly punished because they killed many people.

The conclusion is that we should be kind to people
around us. If we do bad to people, people will do bad to
us. Karma is real.

Sarah’s Handicraft Success!

Sarah. She was a

talented person. Making handicrafts during her free

time was her hobby.

One day, she got an idea to make handicrafts using
recycled materials. She started collecting all recycled
materials. After a while, she finally finished making
beautiful handicrafts. She was satisfied with her work.

The next day, she started selling her handicraft.
However, it received no response. She also promoted
her handicraft, but the engagement was not noticeable.
Sarah felt so sad, but she never gave up.

One day, a kind man was passing by her mini stall.
The man was interested to buy her crafts. It was
because the handicraft was very beautiful, creative, and
unique.

The kind man wanted to help Sarah. To promote
Sarah’s business, he took a few photos of the handicraft
he just bought and posted them on social media. His
post garnered thousands of likes and was shared by
many.

A few months later, Sarah went viral. She had so
many bookings and made a lot of money. She was also
able to open her shop. Her business grew, thanks to the
social media post. She was very touched and was
grateful to God and the kind man who had helped her
during difficult times.

The moral of the story is to diligently strive in any
situation.

The Tale of Two Kingdoms

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom in the
jungle. The ruler of the kingdom was a gorilla. He ruled
all the animals in the jungle. He ruled with an iron fist.
Not very far from the jungle, there was another
kingdom. The kingdom was a human kingdom. They
lived in peace under the king’s rule. The king had a very
beautiful princess named Sophie. Everybody was
jealous of her because of her beauty. One day, the
gorilla saw the princess standing in front of the window
while braiding her hair. The gorilla was mesmerized by
her beauty. He was in love with the princess.

One day, the princess went to the river in the
jungle to collect lotus, her favorite flower. She was
accompanied by royal guards. They went there with the
royal horse carriage. The gorilla saw them. He planned

to kidnap the princess. He waited for the princess
behind a tree. While the princess was inattentive and the
guards were busy giving the horses drink, the gorilla
snatched the princess’s arms and carried her upwards
the tree. The guards saw the incident and tried to save
the princess but they failed.

The gorilla ran away with the princess and took
her to his place. The guards quickly went back to the
castle and informed the king about that. The king was
worried about his daughter. Later, he made an
announcement. Whoever finds his daughter can marry
her and become the next king. In the village, there was
a young man living with his mother named Peter. He
was very skilled in archery. He heard about the king’s
announcement. He wanted to help to rescue the
princess. He went into the jungle with his horse. He
brought his archery tools with him.

After a while, he finally found the gorilla’s spot. He
was resting on top of the tallest tree in the jungle. The
princess was under his arms. Peter aimed the arrow at
the gorilla’s eyes. He shot the arrow and his target hit
perfectly. The gorilla screamed in pain. The gorilla and
the princess fell to the ground. Peter rushed to the
princess and helped her to escape. The gorilla tried to
chase them but he did not manage because Peter’s
horse was really fast. Later, they entered the castle.
Everybody was looking at them. The king was really
happy to see his daughter back. Peter married princess
Sophie and they lived happily ever after.

The Daughter of Cinderella

Once upon a time, there were two girls living in a
huge, pretty, blue castle. The two girls were called
Ashley and Sarah. Ashley’s the daughter of Cinderella.

You surely do remember the Cinderella fairy tale story.
YES! Cinderella had a cute, pretty baby girl.

Like her mother, Ashley helped the poor. She always
used her money to help people. Sarah was the opposite
of Ashley. She felt that poor people were all lazy. They
did not need help. Ashley was unaware that her money
was always stolen. Who do you think stole her money?

One day, Ashley saw Sarah scolding Harry, a poor
boy from the slums. Sarah was angry because Harry
ran into her, causing her precious dress to be dirty.
Ashley was shocked looking at how Sarah treated
Harry.

Ashley quickly helped Harry. Harry was thankful to
Ashely for helping her. He confided in Ashley to tell her a
secret that he has kept from her all this while about
Sarah. It seems that Sarah was the one who had been

stealing Ashley’s money that was meant for the poor.
Upon hearing this, Ashley was angry. She demanded
the truth from Sarah. Sarah broke into tears.

Sarah confessed to Ashley over everything that she
had done, including stealing Ashley’s money that was
meant for the poor. Ashley forgave Sarah, with one
condition. Sarah must help Ashley to help the poor in
the kingdom. Harry also apologized to Sarah for
tripping into her. Sarah turned over a new leaf. She
became best friends with Ashley and Harry.

Three Classmates

This is a story of three classmates. Atiqah is a
brilliant girl in school and is very kind ot the rest. Mira is
a polite girl and is Atiqah’s best friend. Meanwhile, Aira is
the evil girl who is a well known bully and had been
always rude to all teachers.

One day, Atiqah was anxiously looking for her book
that was missing. Atiqah asked her close friend, Mira to
help her find the book together. Suddenly Mira saw the
book they were looking for in Aira’s bag. Mira was very
angry and confronted Aira. Knowing that they knew
who took the book, Aira rushed out from the class.

Aira was very scared because she stole the book.
Aira cried as she went down the stairs while Atiqah and
Mira chased her from behind. Suddenly, Aira fell from
the stairs. She hurt her knees and head. Her head was
bleeding profusely. Atiqah and Mira were very shocked
and immediately helped Aira up. They took her to the
school treatment room. The teacher, Madam Laila
quickly attended to Aira’s wound while Atiqah and Mira
calmed Aira. They were there for Aira despite
everything that had happened. Aira apologized to them
and returned the book to Atiqah. She promised not to
steal anymore. After the incident, they become close

friends and Aira also turned over a new leaf and
becomes a good girl who respects her teacher.

In conclusion, we should not mistreat our friends. We
must always forgive as everyone does mistakes.

Sarah and the Wicked Witch

Once upon a time, there was a sweet couple living
in the castle. Their names were Sarah and Prince Haikal.
One day, Sarah went to the forest to search for food.
Suddenly, she met her stepmother. She told her that she
was now married to Prince Haikal.

Her stepmother was jealous. She wanted to take
revenge. So, she met the evil witch. Her stepmother
planned with the evil witch to kill Sarah. The witch came
up with a brilliant idea. She set a trap when Sarah
wanted to collect food. The witch hid Sarah in the cage.

Prince Haikal was worried about Sarah because she
did not return for a day. Prince Haikal decided to find
her. After 2 hours, he returned to the castle for dinner.
After that, he found a letter in his room. The letter
mentioned Sarah's location. He went to Sarah’s location.

When he arrived there, he saw that the witch wanted
to throw acid into Sarah’s cage. Prince Haikal went to
the witch and fought her. Prince Haikal was hurt by the
acid and was slightly injured. But, he won against the
wicked witch. He saved Sarah. They went back to the
castle. They decided to the prison Sarah’s stepmother
and the evil witch. After a few days, Sarah was still tired
after being saved from the evil witch. Prince Haikal
decided to send Sarah to a doctor to treat Sarah’s
trauma. After a few months, Sarah’s trauma has fully
healed. They lived happily ever after.

The moral of the story is not to be jealous.

THE GREEDY AND SELFISH KING

A long time ago, there was one country named
Medanian. Medanian had a king that was so greedy and
selfish. The king only had one little daughter, Sarra.

The king did not have time with his daughter so, Sarra
ran away from the castle. The king made an
announcement. The king offered money and food for
whoever that found his little daughter.

After a few days, they found the princess. The king was
very happy because his daughter had been found. The
king promised to spend time with his daughter. The king
changed his attitude. His daughter felt so happy. The
king organized a party and an apology for his previous
conduct.

The king felt very happy. The king promised to never
repeat his mistake.

The Eyes Are Watching Me

One day, I bought a new
house in the small town
of Winthrop. The house
was cheap, but the most
important part was that I
needed to get away from the city. A few months ago, I
had a run-in with a stalker. While I had managed to get
him arrested, I couldn’t shake the feeling of eyes just
constantly watching me. I felt like there were eyes
everywhere, at home and on the street. So, I decided to
move out. I ventured to a foreign country, to somewhere
with fewer people, just for peace of mind.

The house itself was big and somewhat old, but
otherwise very welcoming. The agent who introduced
me to the house had been required to mention that a
serial killer had lived here in the past. That explained
why the house had been on sale for a below-market
price.

However, my agent and my next-door neighbor,
Sarah both told me to pay no attention to that. Four
other owners had lived in the house since then. All of
them were very happy with it. I loved the house. Its
interior finishings were beautiful and very comfortable.

The people of Winthrop are friendly, often bringing
over freshly baked pastries or inviting me over for
dinner. “Get-togethers”, they said, “were the key to
making sure everyone who lived in Winthrop loved it
there.”

Yet, after a week, I stopped “loving it”. The feeling of
someone watching returned, worse than before. I tried
to ignore it, but soon I started losing sleep. Giant
eyebags grew under my eyes and I began yawning
almost as much as I breathe.

Sarah was kind enough to let me stay in her house
for a few nights. It was during this time that I heard
about the legend of Forest Carter, the serial killer who
lived in my house. While nobody knows his exact kill
count, Carter, also known as the Winthrop Peacock, was
a man with extremely severe care of narcissism.

Legends say that he couldn’t fall asleep if he didn’t
feel like he was being watched. He was finally arrested
for putting up a scarecrow. Carther has murdered a
17-years-old girl, just so that her corpse could stare at
him. The story gave me shivers. After I went home, I felt
as if hundreds of eyes were just watching me no matter

where I looked. Today, however, was the first day that I
acted out. I was making breakfast when I felt something
staring at me.

Instinctively, out of fear, I threw my kitchen knife,
which lodged itself into the wall. As I pulled it out, I found
myself staring at a pair of eyes, pickling in
formaldehyde. I’ve been watching the police peel away
the drywall of my house for hours now.

So far, they have found 142 pairs of eyes in little
glass jars. The scariest thing is that every one of them
was staring at me. I hope this will never happen again.

A Victim

The derelict hallway was used by Ervin to hide from
being chased by his father’s debt collector. Her life is not
beautiful like others. Her father used her as a hostage

for his gambling debt. Her mother passed away when
she was just twelve years old. Being bullied was all
common to her since her mother died. Her father
always hit her while he was drunk.

One day, she could not stand it anymore. She ran
away from home. She selpt at th epark until a kind man
approached her one night. “You’re homeless?” the man
asked. She just gave a short nod. “Do you want to stay
with me? My name i Mr Daniel. Don’t worry, I already
have children and a wife,” the man offered. She
followed the man because there's no other way. It's the
beginning of the journey of this story.

Her stay with the Daniel family was a pleasant one.
She always volunteered to go to the nearby market to
buy groceries for the family. One day, Ervin stumbled
into her father. She was caught by her father and forced
back to the horror house.

She was beaten without mercy. She fainted as she
could not take it anymore. When she finally had the
energy to wake up, she was shocked to see her father’s
body lying in a pool of blood in the hallway.

When the villagers found out about the tragic
death, they suspected Ervin. Police came and arrested
Ervin. She was taken in for questioning about the death
of her brutally murdered father. The police suspected
her as only she was there yesterday with her father.

The police heard Ervin’s story and the bruises
corroborated her story. However, it makes the suspicion
even stronger that Ervin killed her father as she hated
him for hitting her.

She told the police that she was unconscious all the
time. She heard nothing. Someone must have killed her
father and then trapped her to escape. Lucky enough,
the neighbour saw a man entering into the house from
the window. Apparently, it was a drug addict.

The police quickly arrested the drug addict a few
blocks away. He confessed that he killed Ervin’s father
as her father saw him intruding into his house. He had
no choice but to stab him on the chest and ran off. The
police released Ervin and apologised. They have also
dropped all charges against her and offered their
condolences.

Now that her father is no longer tormenting her,
she inherited the house. She is no longer staying with
the Daniel’s family. She got a job in a grocery shop
nearby. Her life returned to normal. After what Ervin
went through, she finally found her happiness. We had
to admit that life is incomplete if nothing bad happens.
There may be a lesson behind all of this.

The Legend of Azril

Once upon a time,
in a small village near the
beach of west Sumatra,
there lived a boy, Azril and
his mother. Azril’s father left
when Azril was a child. Azril
had to work hard with his mother.

Azril is a healthy, diligent, and strong man. He
usually goes to the sea to catch fish. After catching fish,
he will take it to his mother or sell the fish in the city.
One day, Azril was sailing. He saw a ship that was being
attacked by a small group of pirates.

He helped the ship with courage and power Azril
defeated the pirates. The captain was very happy and
thanked him. In return, the merchant asked Azril to
follow him to get a better life. Azril agreed. He left his
mother alone many years later, Azril became rich. He
owned a large ship and is helped by the crew loading
merchandise. He has a beautiful wife too.

While was sailing on a trading trip, the ship landed
on the beach near a small village. People recognized it.
The news ran fast from the city. “Azril became rich and
now he is here”. An old woman ran to the beach to meet
the new rich merchant. She was Azril’s mother. She
wanted to hug her to release, her sadness. She was
lonely after so long. Unfortunately, when his mother
came, Azril who was with his wife and crew denied
meeting the old, lonely woman. Three times his mother
asked Azril. He shouted at her.

``Enough old woman! I never had a mother like you,
a dirty and ugly woman! “After that, he ordered the
crew to start sailing away. He was about to leave his
mother again. This time, she was full of both sadness
and anger. Furiously, she cursed Azril that he will turn to
stone if he doesn’t apologize. Azril just laughed and
sailed.

Suddenly, the sea became stormy. The big ship was
damaged. It was too late for Azril to apologize. He was
thrown by the waves from his ship. He fell on a small
island. It was very late for him to escape the curse. He
turned to stone. That was the end of him. Nowadays,
everyone knows the story of Azril.

The Night of The Thieves

Lately, Emily always come home late from work.
This is because she is required to complete the
assignment given by her employer. Emily will park the
car at the back of the house because the front parking
lot is always full. After parking, Emily got out of the car.
Suddenly, two men attacked her. They tried to snatch
her handbag.

Emily was hit in the face by the thieves for
fighting back. The thieves pointed the knife at Emily’s
stomach. Emily was in fear.” I’m dead like this” said
Emily. Emily resigned herself to the situation. Suddenly,
someone screamed. “Hey, what are you doing?” Emily
and the thieves were surprised.

Luck was still on Emily's side. They saw a man
passing by around the area. He helped her. The thieves
ran away after seeing the man.

Emily made a police report. Eventually, the
thieves were caught as a result of a report made by
Emily. Emily thanked the man for his bravery. The moral
of the story is that we must always help each other and
always be careful.

Evil Pinocchio

Once upon a time,
there was an old
carpenter. His name
is Fin. He loves to
make wooden dolls
and puppets. One fine day, Fin wanted to make a
puppet for his grandson, Tim. Tim, who will turn three, is
throwing a birthday party. Fin decided to make a
wooden puppet out of pinewood. He delicately crafted it
for three days. Finally, it was ready. He named the

puppet, Pinocchio. When it was finally done, Fin took
Pinocchio home to get it prepared for his grandson.

When Fin slept that night, a fairy appeared and
made Pinocchio move around. When Fin woke up the
next morning, he was shocked to see Pinocchio alive. He
was happy but mystified that his creation was alive.
However, Pinocchio was not a kind puppet. It created
havoc in town. Everyone hated Pinocchio and asked Fin
to get rid of it.

One day, Fin came back and saw that his house
was in a mess. Pinocchio did it. Fin was so angry. He
grabbed Pinocchio and chopped it into pieces. Then, he

Black Shadow

One night, in a small
apartment, a student
was experimenting
with a dangerous
liquid. His name is
Max Wilson. He
wanted to pour a liquid into a chemical glass. He was
tired and wanted to make it tomorrow. He opened the
window to see the view of the stars while calling his
friend named Claude.

“Hey, Claude, are you done with the dangerous
liquid that Professor Ned told us?” asked Max. “I have
done, but it doesn’t matter because Professor Ned
wants it next year,” said Claude. “Hmmm, ok see you
tomorrow at the park”, said Max. He continued to see
the scenery in the sky.

Suddenly, he saw a meteor with high speed hitting
the yard of his apartment. He came out of the
apartment because he was curious and wanted to see.
All there was a crater. He looked inside the crater.
Suddenly, he felt something entering his body. He did
not know he was possessed by the creature from outer
space.

The police wanted to investigate the meteor and
told Max to go back to his apartment. In the morning, he
was shocked as he was stuck on the ceiling of his room.
He pulled his hand as hard as he could and gripped his
hand. Suddenly it was back to normal. He felt it was just
his imagination. He came out of the apartment to buy
some food. He saw a stranger snatching a woman's
bag. Without him realizing it, his wrist pulled out a
costume. He is now a superhero. Without thinking, he
ran and punched the stranger.

"Oh, thank you so much,” said the woman. At the
same time, the police helicopter was recording. He had

to run away from the cameraman. He ran as fast as he
could and the helicopter lost track. He went down a
narrow hallway. He realized that he could change his
costume to be a superhero! How did it happen? Was it
because of the thing from space?

At the same time, Claude saw everything. Max
explained it. Claude told Max to grip his hand as hard as
he could. Suddenly, he instantly changed his shirt into a
costume. HE can finally control his powers and be a
superhero!

"Latest news! There is a superhero protecting this
city!” The reporter was shocked when Max, in his
superhero costume, jumped out of nowhere in front of
the reporter. “Everyone who is seeing this can call me
Black Shadow”, said Max.

“Oh yeah! This planet also has interesting
superheroes”, said Unknown while watching the news.
The Unknown is the creature that fell from the sky with

the meteor. His mission is to conquer planet Earth and
make all the humans as his slave to mine for all the
minerals for his planet, Mixruwo.

At night, Unknown came to attack Max because it
felt Max would derail his plan to conquer Earth. Max was
unprepared. Unknown took Claude hostage. Max had no
choice but to surrender. As he walked to Unknown, he
threw the dangerous liquid Professor Ned asked them
to prepare for Chemistry class.

“Arghhhhhhh! My eyes! I cannot see anymore,”
screamed Unknown. “You tricked me!” Unknown quickly
dialed a few buttons on his wrist and vanished. Max
knew he was safe. He and Claude were terrified but
glad that the ordeal was over. Max continued to watch
over the city while Claude kept his secret. The city is
peaceful with no crime. Nobody knew Max is Black
Shadow.

Relationships in two worlds

Once upon a time, there was a high school girl
named Caroline. She was on her way home. Suddenly,
she came across an old house. She stared through the
window and she saw a black shadow looking at her. She
was so shocked and went back home to tell her mom
what happened. Her mom chided her saying she was
seeing reflections. At midnight, she was kinda curious.
So she planned to go back to the old house with her
friend, Chloe. The next day, they arrived and walked into
the old house together with fear. As they walked into the
house, the door closed by itself. Caroline and Chloe
were shocked and screamed. They quietly walked
upstairs. They saw the window. What scared them the
most was the black shadow. But it was actually a coat
and a hat. They were relieved. But their relief was

short-lived. When they turned around, they saw the
ghost lurking from behind the door.

Her friend Chloe ran and left Caroline in the house.
Caroline felt very scared and fainted. When she woke
up, she saw the ghost in front of her. Caroline screamed
her lungs out again. To her shock, the ghost spoke to
her. “Don't scream. I won't do anything to you. I'm
Nathan. Sorry for scaring you and your friend earlier,”
said Nathan, the so-called ghost.

“What are you?” asked Caroline. “I am a ghost. But,
only you can see. I had been trapped in this house for
decades. I do not know why you can see me. Are you
afraid of me now that you know I am a ghost?” asked
Nathan. Caroline was afraid but she lied as she felt
Nathan meant no harm to her. “Of course, I am not
afraid. I am a brave girl.”

Soon, Caroline visited Nathan at the old, empty
house every day. They spent hours talking about

everything. Many thought Caroline was insane since
nobody dared to visit the old haunted house. Caroline
felt she was in love with Nathan, but she knew Nathan
was a ghost.

One day, she confessed her feelings to Nathan. “I
think I like you, Nathan. But, you are a ghost. We cannot
be together.” Nathan replied “Yes, I know. We are from
two different worlds.”

Soon, Caroline’s father was transferred to another
state. She had to leave and never return. She never
knew what happened to Nathan. All she knew was that
nobody believed her story of her falling in love with a
ghost.

The Multi Universe

Lisa, Sofea, Elson, and Liam went camping in the
forest during the weekend. “Everyone! We are finally
here,” shouted Lisa. Everyone had been excited as they
were planning this trip for ages. They set up their tents
and decided to take a rest.

“There is no Internet here. I want to go and search
for a place to get reception,” said Sofea while walking
away. Lisa grabbed her hand and stopped her. “It is
getting dark. Lets’ just rest for now.”

They rested in their tents. However, Sofea woke up
and felt the urge of posting their pictures on Instagram.
She walked around to get an Internet connection.
Suddenly, a portal appeared out of nowhere. A hand
appeared and pulled Sofea into the portal. Sofea
screamed her lungs out. Lisa heard and woke the boys.
They quickly ran towards Sofea as she was being pulled

into the portal. Unfortunately, all of them were forcefully
sucked together.

They fall onto the ground. To their astonishment,
they were transported to another world! “Where are
we?” asked Liam. “What is this place?” asked Elson while
looking around. They saw a magical world right in front
of them. A cat was as big as a car, dragons were
pampered as pets and the view was gorgeous! “So
beautiful MasyaAllah!” said Lisa. Lisa stood there
admiring everything while others started to panic.

Suddenly, they heard a mysterious voice. “Welcome
heroes! You are in a game! Survive or get eliminated! All
the best!” The voice disappeared. All four of them
became excited. They walked along the jungle till they
reached a town. “Wow! There is a town. I am hungry!”
said Elson. Suddenly, a portal appeared. They walked
into the portal and were quickly transported to an
island. An old man was waiting for them.

“Hello, heroes. I am Li Chong. I will guide you to get
your powers while you are here,” said the old man.
Every day, they trained hard, not knowing what was
happening in the real world they left. After a week, they
completed their training. Liam received the power of the
dark dragon to control the night and the moon.
Meanwhile, Lisa mastered the power of a shiny white
dragon to control the power of the Sun. Sofea
conquered the water guardian's power to control water
and turn it into ice while Elson mastered the power of
the fire guardian to control fire and create lava.

“Wow! We are all superheroes! I thought this stuff
was only in movies,” chided Elson. Suddenly, the sky
turned dark. A huge monster-like villain attacked the
island. Sofea tried using ice to hurt it but it was to no
avail. Liam turned things to darkness but it caused the
rest not to be able to see and attack. Everyone was
frustrated.

Suddenly, they remembered what Li Chong once said to
them:

“If you fail once it doesn’t mean you will fail forever.
Sometimes, you forget that the most powerful
power is the power of teamwork. You are a team!
Work together. The only thing that exists for you is
the fear of losing someone you love, hatred for a
person you don’t like because you believe there’s
always a shadow hiding under a light. God has
planned for such a long time already, only we were
oblivious.”

They gathered and planned a simultaneous attack
to defeat the villain. Elson conjured a firey sword while
Sofea covered it with ice while Lisa used the power of
the Sun to conjure flares. Meanwhile, Liam distracted
the villain with darkness. With their coordinated attack,
the villain was finally defeated. Their mission was over!

Li Chong came out of nowhere. “Congratulations,
heroes! You have defeated the villain. It is time for you to
go home. Remember do not tell this to anyone. Even if

you do, who will believe you? Hahaha!” With a snap of a
finger, he disappeared leaving all four of them
perplexed.

A portal appeared in front of them. They were back
at their campsite. What felt like weeks in the mysterious
portal was just a five-minute absence in the real world.
Till today, they talked about it. It is a shame nobody
would believe them. Would you?
