National Charity League, Inc.
Yorba Linda Chapter
Class of 2017
Proudly Presents
21st Annual
Spring Fashion Show
Sunday, February 21, 2016
Hilton Anaheim
Anaheim, California
Welcome!
Make a Difference...
the World is Your Runway
On behalf of the Yorba Linda Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., welcome to the Fashion
Show, presented by the Class of 2017. We are honored to have you here as our guests.
National Charity League (NCL), Inc. was established in Los Angeles in 1925 and incorporated in 1958
as a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation dedicated to community volunteerism. Currently, NCL, Inc.
has 210 Chapters with more than 60,000 members in 23 states. In 2015, NCL, Inc. nationwide mem-
bers donated more than 1,460,830 hours directly to philanthropic organizations in our communities.
The Mission of the National Charity League, Inc. is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a
philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural
experiences. Through the mother-daughter relationship, National Charity League, Inc. develops
strong women leaders serving and impacting communities today and for generations to come.
Our Chapters 2015-2016 theme is, “Make Everyday a Work of Heart.” This theme reflects the chap-
ters desire to make a difference in one person’s life as well as the true meaning of volunteering.
The Yorba Linda Chapter is in its 26th year of serving our community and we are proud to say we
support 24 philanthropies. Mothers and daughters make a six year commitment to NCL, Inc. and
the junior class host an annual Fashion Show and Silent Auction to raise funds for their chosen
philanthropy.
The Class of 2017 has chosen to support Crittenton Services for Children and Families.
Crittenton Services for Children and Families is celebrating their 50th Anniversary. They are a
501 (c) (3 child-welfare agency headquartered in Fullerton, California. With offices in five different
counties
(Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Di-
ego), Crittenton provides services for adolescents (ages 13-18)
such as mental health help, substance abuse, rehabilitation,
education, and parenting to only name a few.
Crittenton, the Class of 2017, the entire Yorba Linda Chap-
ter of National Charity League, Inc. and I thank you for your
generous support today. Your donations are very much ap-
preciated and will make a positive impact in the lives of our
youth. Please sit back and enjoy as you and the Class of 2017,
“Make a Difference… The World is Your Runway.”
Best Regards,
Kimberly Ostrowski
President
Yorba Linda Chapter, NCL, Inc.
What isCrittenton?
Crittenton Services was established in 1966 in response to a need for services for pregnant/par-
enting teen in Orange County. At the time, there were no licensed groups homes in the County
and Orange, the county-owned shelter, was not on the planning horizon. A group of volunteers
who had assisted at the Crittenton Home in LA helped kick off the first fund-raiser, headlined by
John Wayne and Mickey Mouse! From that interesting partnership, we raised enough money to
buy a house in Santa Ana. It became quickly apparent that Orange County needed more than a
small home for unwed mothers, and we quickly
became inundated with referrals of abused teens,
abandoned babies, and everything in between.
Rising to the occasion, we quickly purchased
the Fullerton Cottage Hospital (now our “Harbor
Campus”). Once again, we filled quickly, adding
services for young adults (18-21) and boys up to
age 13. In 1990, we purchased a second closed hospital (a pattern for us?) and converted the Fuller-
ton Community Hospital into a Residential Treatment Center. Over the years, in response to chang-
ing needs in social services, juvenile justice and mental health, we have expanded services into the
community, into multiple counties, and in the home.
Insisting on the highest professional standards, we are one of
only two agencies in the entire state that is dually-accredited,
both by the Council on Accreditation (since 1999) and The
Joint Commission (since 2015). Crittenton serves over 2,000
individuals (children, teens, and families) in the course of a
year, from offices in five counties (Orange, Los Angeles, Riv-
erside, San Bernardino, and San Diego).
For all our expansion
and complexity, we
still call Fullerton our
home. We are tre-
mendously grateful
for individuals and
groups like NCL, Inc.
Yorba Linda Chapter
for their support.
