Introduction & Backgrund

- Tan Sri Datuk Amar Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Puteh.
- Better known by his stage name P. Ramlee.
- He was born in 22 March 1929 at Penang, Malaysia.
- He is known as Malayan actor, singer, director and composer.
- He become famous after placed in a supporting role in his first film
called Chinta in which he played as a villain and performed 5 songs
as a playback singer.
- Before he was famous, he had already won a number of singing
competition and writing his own songs and playing the violin in a
keroncong band.

Starting with small roles, his acting soon

gained him great recognition and love

from the public. Before long, P. Ramlee

challenged himself to directing and his

first film, Penarik Beca was what put

him in the limelight and set him as the

blue chip in the entertainment industry.

Apart from his career in acting and

directing, P. Ramlee has also gone into

singing and composing. He has more

than 360 songs to his credit and it is said

that during the span of his life, he had

written 1,000 songs.

After his death in 1973, Malaysians kept his legacy alive, honoring

him with posthumous awards and naming halls, museums, and

other buildings after him.

-His last wife is Salmah Ismail (Saloma) on 1961 - 1973

HOBBY

- P. Ramlee was very active in sport excelling particular in badminton, sepak

takraw and football during his life as a student.
