Aerex Pest Control - Hawthorn Woods Last fall, CWC held its first “Tighty Whitey“ Drive, started when we learned from
AM Woodland Outdoor Design CASA of Lake County that foster children in our area often are in need of new
Anuyu Boutique undergarments, something many of us might take for granted. We collected new
Avalon Salon donated items and cash donations to help out with this specific need. CASA picked
Barn Nursery up these donations along with
Bella Donna Boutique feminine products from The Period
Blue Chamomile Reflexology & Aromatherapy Collective of Lake County to hand
Blue Jay Paint and Blinds out at their CASA Advocates’ open
Buffalo Creek Brewing, Long Grove house. At this event advocates got to
Call Me Social Butterfly pick up supplies, clothes and other
Casten Body Shop items their foster children needed to
Cedar Lake Assisted Living give out before the holidays.
Chris Geimer Design We raised $1100 which helped us
Consume, eat,shop,drink purchase almost 800 items toward
Copper Fiddle Distillery our “Tighty Whitey” Drive. Thank

Our Corporate Members Stepped Up in 2018

We had fantastic end-of-year fund raising events from a variety of CWC’s Corporate Members. A huge thank you to
the businesses that donated a portion of their sales during Giving Tuesday and holiday sales throughout December.

Thank you to: LUXE Wearhouse for the Giving Tuesday donation, Nothing Bundt Cakes – Kildeer for a day of
sales and orders donations, Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce for tree ornaments purchased by members with proceeds
donated to CWC, WIN (Women in Networking) for funds raised from raffle sales during the holiday breakfast, Copper Fiddle
Distillery for supporting us with their Bartending Class Event, Hand & Stone Spa – Kildeer for proceeds from gift card sales

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

CWC is an active member of the Lake Zurich
Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber
created a new program this year, a 47/10
Giving Tree, benefitting CWC.
For a contribution of $20, members
received their logo ornament on a 47/10
Giving Tree and promotion from the
Chamber.

SHOUT-OUT

Thank you to our generous Holiday Helpers!

The end of the year holiday season is a busy time for CWC philanthropy projects. With help from many we
were able to make the holidays a little brighter for some Lake County women and children:

• SHOEBOXES: We gave out 42 decorated shoeboxes to children at Staben House, each filled with
age-appropriate toys, books and accessories. We were also able to fill wish lists for eight families!

• GIVING TREE: Our Giving Tree Program supplied a family of eight
with Christmas gifts and food cards.

• BRAS & BOOTS: For the 2nd year of our Enrich and Empower at
Program, we collected bras and winter boots for 25 women and children
Lake County Haven.

• MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH: We also collected shampoo, conditioner,
toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, pads, Christmas stockings, and lots
of stocking stuffers for the 113 women at Mount Saint Joseph in Lake
Zurich. Thank you to Lake Zurich Freshman Basketball team, their
coaches and families for collecting items for the ladies at Mount Saint
Joseph! They were generous and we are very grateful for their support!

• A SAFE PLACE: A special “Thank You” goes out to House of Betty
Jane (Lake Zurich) and Libertyville Gymnastics for collecting toys for
our many children we support at A Safe Place. (photo right)

Thanks Middle School South!

The Lake Zurich Middle School South woodworking club
made these beautiful toys for children in need in local
shelters. This is the third year that the club has used their
skills to build small toys as a donation to CWC.

Alden Seniors Fundraiser

We were so grateful to work with Historic Downtown Long Grove collecting gifts
for “orphaned” seniors at Alden Nursing Home in Long Grove. We had over 80
gifts collected and wrapped (as many as we could) for their holiday celebration.

We opened our 2018-19 year of “Growing Good” with a truly special Love Fund SP

We had a great time bringing the guys along for a social night at Buffalo
Creek Brewing in Long Grove. We had a raffle for many baskets as well
as a Coach purse and wallet. We raised over $500 for our holiday helpers
and Thanksgiving meals.

helps us fund grants that are presented in June 2019! Spring is our

The “Love Fund” is the heart of the Caring Women’s Connection organization. All donations
collected to this fund are distributed to charities and organizations that support women
and children in need in Lake County. Every person/business/organization that gives a monetary
donation becomes a “Gem” of Caring Women’s Connection, helping us to provide vital
assistance to the programs we support.

We appreciate every level of donation. Caring Women’s Connection will send you a tax
receipt and publicize your donation, along with your name/company’s name (if you so
choose) on our website and in our CONNECTIONS newsletter publication, which is mailed
to over 4,000 residents. The Caring Women’s Connection is a 501(C) 3 not-for-profit organi-

SCHOLARSHIP The “Love Fund” is the heart of the Caring Women’s Connection organization. In the
PROGRAM spring, CWC rewards an outstanding high school graduate(s) a $3,000 scholarship
towards tuition and provides as many additional scholarships as possible. With a
donation of $3,000 or more, the scholarship will be named after you or your
organization. We think this is a great way to show your support for education and the
community and assist in the educational goals of a deserving local student. You
may donate to the scholarship online at any time on the CWC website.
