Welcome

Welcome!
At Galilee, we believe words change us. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God
which has the power to change our lives. Even more, we believe that the change is
always surprising and always good.
Sometimes, the change is brought by very few words.
Our new worship series is called “7 Words That Can Change Your Life.” Each Sunday, we’ll
take one little word used in a Biblical context to explore the powerful transformation it
can work. These aren’t complicated words, though they can be difficult. These are words
like no, and help, and sorry, and thanks.
These are words we use every day. Understood in the right light, they can help us see
how God can use us every day, too.
In Christ,

Pastor Jason

May 12 - Esther May 26 - Haggai

Sundays: NOOMA

10:15am · Room 202
Led by Chris Richter
NOOMA is a series of short films that explore our world from a perspective of Jesus.
Jesus lived with the awareness that God is doing something, right here, right now,
and anybody can be a part of it. He encouraged his listeners to search, to ques-
tion, to wrestle with the implications of what he was saying and doing. Wherever he
went, Jesus started discussions about what matters most, because for Jesus, God is
always inviting us to open our eyes and join in.
No prep needed - each is a stand alone class.

Small Groups

Monday Women’s Evening Group

6:30pm - Adult Flex
Join us for dinner and study.

Keep It Shut by Karen Ehman explores how to better control your tongue,
knowing what to say and how to say it, and realizing when it is best to say nothing at all.
From Bible times to modern times women have struggled with their words. What to say
and how to say it. What not to say. When it is best to remain silent. And what to do when
you’ve said something you wish you could now take back. In this book a woman whose
mouth has gotten her into loads of trouble shares the hows (and how-not-tos) of dealing
with the tongue.
Christian women struggle with their mouths. Even though we know that Scripture has
much to say about how we are—and are not—to use our words, this is still an immense is-
sue, causing heartache and strain not only in family relationships, but also in friendships,
work, and church settings.

Small Groups

Women’s Wednesday Morning Study

Led by Emilie Beckelhimer
9:30am - Adult Flex
Are you ready to become the person God has called you to be? In
A Life Beyond Amazing, bestselling author Dr. David Jeremiah
uncovers God’s strategy for change and challenges you to make
nine important decisions that will transform your heart, your life,
and your world.
This life-changing book explores the nine qualities of character
that carry us forward. Three of these have to do with our relationship with ourselves, three
deal with interactions with other people, and three of them focus on our relationship with
God. Spiritual
principles are true in any situation. But we must make a conscious decision to employ
them in our daily lives.
God has given us wisdom for these days. A Life Beyond Amazing answers the questions
that keep us up at night and shows that the way forward is a reminder of who we are in
Christ and why it matters.

Often we make a mess of our lives and wonder if there is any
redemption. In this book, pastor and author Tom Berlin helps us
see our mess through the eyes of Christ to find redemption and
restoration. Using Scripture, devotional tools, and the writings of
Ignatius of Loyola, John of the Cross, St. Augustine, John Wesley,
Evelyn Underhill, and others, Berlin encourages reflection and meditation through
our own brokenness. Only then can we focus on the cross as the place where we
truly surrender control, leave our mess, and find redemption.

Ordinary People...

...Extraordinary Purpose

At Galilee Church, we offer regular, intentional opportunities for people to grow in faith.
We strive to prepare people of all ages for a deeper relationship with God. Our greatest
tool for growth is the small group, where people come together to study the word and
build understanding, faith, and strong relationships. Our small groups are open to
everyone at any time. Feel free to drop in when you are able to see if a group is the right
fit for you.

Stephen Ministers are known as the After People.

Stephen Ministers are there:

...after the phone call you hoped you’d never get.
...after the funeral, when everyone has left and the

emotions you’ve held at bay come crashing in on you.
....after the relationship falls apart and the bottom falls out of your life.

...after the doctor says, “I’m sorry, but there’s nothing more we can do.”

...after the nursing home director shakes your hand and says,
“Welcome to your new home.”

...after the last child honks the horn, waves, and drives away
—and the house suddenly seems empty.

...after the gavel comes down, the handcuffs go on,
and your loved one is led away.

...after the baby arrives, demanding more of you than you ever
dreamed possible.

...after you find a pink slip with your final paycheck.
...after your family and friends have heard your story one too many

times, but you still need to talk it out.
Stephen Ministers are the After People. They are ready to come alongside you—or
your friends, neighbors, coworkers, or relatives—and provide comfort and support
for as long after as needed.

Loudoun Hunger Relief provided over 1 million pounds of food last year to those in
our community that are food insecure. LHR is grateful for the help they received
from Galilee, especially the fresh produce which now comprises 30% of food
provided, and is helping to increase the health and wellness of the families they
serve.
LHR continually tells us how grateful they are, and so are we. Thank you and God

an extraordinary purpose.
As a pastor of an active church, I get energy out of helping
people connect with God, with one another, and with their
life’s purpose.
I invite you to connect with Galilee and to connect with me. Hit me on social media

lived since 2001.

eager to share that love with a hurt and broken world. Jesus has
made all the difference in my life, and I believe he can make a
difference in yours—no matter what!”
“My goal is to work alongside others who are passionately committed to helping those in
need.”
Geitra serves in Galilee’s ministries and at the Chapel at Lansdowne Woods, and is
pursuing the completion of her Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary.
