BV Fun Facts BV has celebrated rich heritage
since 1922, starting with The
Mt Yale Head Lettuce Days, which was
SPONSOR renamed the Collegiate Peaks
Stampede Rodeo in 1966.

G The current Town Hall was the First National Bank during the
Great Depression. It is reportedly one of the only two banks in the
country that was able to repay all of its customers after the 1929
stock market crash.

The oldest church building in BV is the St. Rose of Lima Catholic
Church, which is now located at Forest Square Park. It was
relocated in 1969 to save it from demolition. The building housed
the BV Chamber until 2021, and now houses the Shining
mountains Montessori School.

In 1880 BV's population reached 3,500 and the vote was made to
move the county seat from Granite (north of town) to BV. Granite
would not release the records, so a group of men from BV stole a
railroad car and engine to steal the records in the middle of the
night.

In the 1950s, CKS on Main St was a skating rink!
