COMMUNITY EDUCATION INFORMATION

1. NO CLASSES: 11/6, 11/21-11/23, 12/24-1/4
2. Classes DO NOT MEET when the school district is closed due to INCLEMENT WEATHER AND/OR

BUILDING PROBLEMS.
3. Classes DO MEET even if students are not in school due to 1/2 days, etc...
4. Classes not meeting the minimum enrollment may be cancelled.
5. When Classes are cancelled due to weather make-ups or refunds may not be given.
6. Sometimes a class needs to be rescheduled or moved due to a building activity. Advance

notice will be given when possible by the swim instructors.
7. A request must be made prior to the start of the second class, regardless of attendance

REFUND POLICY

1. FULL REFUND: class cancelled by Community Education.
2. $5.00 service charge applies before second class meets if student cancels the class or

transfers to another class regardless of your attendance (after class sessions begins).
3. NO REFUND for classes meeting once or twice.
4. A $35 processing fee will be charged on all returned checks.

(Basics-Getting Started)

PREREQUISITE: basic mouse, keyboarding, and Windows skills/experience. Begin to
learn Microsoft Excel using a hands-on approach.

Explore the parts of the program; ribbons; how to find the dialog boxes; moving
around the worksheet; create/save/open/edit worksheets; cell formatting tools/
dialog boxes; save time using the format painter; cell ranges; find/replace;
previewing/printing; column/row/cell formats; text alignments; customize the quick
access toolbar (QAT) and more.

PREREQUISITE: Excel - Part 1 or equivalent skills.
Plus USB flash drive and CD experience (taught in Part 1)

Continue learning Microsoft Excel: cut/copy/paste; fill handles; insert/delete hide/unhide row/
columns/cells; freeze vs. split panes; spell check; page breaks; page setups (paper size &
orientation, alignment, margins, headers/footers, repeat rows/ columns, center the data on the
page, etc.); change worksheet views; print options. Begin to learn formulas: order of operation;
relative/absolute/mixed cell references; average/count/minimum/maximum/sum formulas;
printing the formulas vs. values (answers).

multiple worksheets; copy worksheets within a workbook or from other workbooks, color code and

subtotal feature and pivot tables (time savers not in the book).

WATER EXERCISE

Refrain from wearing scented products to class. Check with your doctor, especially if pregnant,
before taking any exercise class.

Water-resistant exercise promotes cardiovascular conditioning, strengthens muscles, and
increases flexibility. Swim ability not necessary.

SWIMMING LESSON PREREQUISITES

PRE-BEGINNER

Should be comfortable in the water by themselves while parents are in bleachers

BEGINNER 1

Passed Pre- Beginner or comfortable putting their face in the water while performing a front float
and able to perform a back float (with some support).

BEGINNER 2

Passed Beginner 1 or able to swim independently at least 5 yards of freestyle/front crawl.

ADVANCED BEGINNER 1

Passed Beginner 2 or be able to swim at least 1/2 length of freestyle/front crawl, performing rotary
breathing, and be able to float on their back for 15 seconds.

ADVANCED BEGINNER 2

Passed Advanced Beginner 1 or be able to perform a kneeling dive and swim 25 yards (1 length)
of freestyle/ front crawl with rotary breathing and swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards (1
length).

INTERMEDIATE

Passed Advanced Beginner 2 or perform a stride dive and swim 50 yards (2
lengths) of freestyle/front crawl with rotary breathing, swim 25 yards (1 length) of backstroke, 1/2
length of breaststroke, and 1/2 length of dolphin kick.

SWIMMER

Passed Intermediate or be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths) each of freestyle/front crawl and
backstroke using flip turns at wall, 50 yards (2 lengths) of elementary backstroke, 25 yards (1
length) of breaststroke, and 1/2 length of butterfly.
