capital of Malaysia.

How to get there: The best map I could locate to go to Broga was
the one below, which shows instructions to the University of
Nottingham. You'll pass the university on your left before arriving
to the hike's entrance, which is opposite a rabbit farm. Parking is
available along the road's shoulders or in a clearing within the
palm oil plantation, with the latter incurring an RM2 fee.

Gunung Nuang is Malaysia's 86th tallest peak,
standing at 1493 metres (4898 feet). Although
it is a relative baby in Malaysian terms, it is
nevertheless a substantial mountain - higher
than any in the Britain, for example (Ben Nevis
is 95m shorter).

How to get there: When you reach the sign for Pekan Hulu Langat,
exit the E7 Cheras Kajang Expressway. Continue straight through
Hulu Langat on road B52 as far as you can. You'll arrive in
Pangsun (Pangsoon), where the road splits in two. Keep left to
reach the Pangsoon Dam and Reservoir. Turn left into the Gunung
Nuang Park when you reach the reservoir compound's sealed
security gates. There is a parking lot nearby. You must pay RM1

Gabai River Waterfall
Gabai River Waterfall located at Kampung Sungai Lui. Before reaching the
top level, there are 12 levels with 336 little stairs. Majlis Daerah Hulu Langat
has constructed a large number of tents. There are public restrooms, locker
rooms, and musallah available. The Gabai River originates on Gunung Besar
Hantu (1462m) in Negeri Sembilan.
Sungai Gabai Waterfall is one of Kuala Lumpur's closest waterfalls and is
easily accessible by automobile. This makes it incredibly popular, and
weekends, public holidays, and school vacations can be extremely
congested. When you arrive, you must pass through an archway and pay a
RM1 entrance fee per person. A number of shelters and gazebos for picnics
and resting may be found along the walk.
Page 07
How to get there: The majority of motorists travel through Hulu
Langat (Selangor), taking either the B62 from Ampang or the B52
from Cheras. If it is not too far out of your way, you can take B19
from Semenyih, which takes you through the lovely Semenyih
Reservoir and the Sg. Telaka Recreational Park. Whichever route
you take, look for the signpost for the waterfalls in Kampung Gabai
on the B19.

CHILING WATERFALL

SMG602 • JULY 2020
Chiling Waterfall is one of Selangor's
most beautiful and magnificent waterfalls.
To reach there, you'll need to walk for
roughly an hour and cross the Chiling
River five times, so it will be adventurous
and getting wet. It is certainly worth the
effort when you finally reach the waterfall
(there will be three falls).
Chiling Waterfall is located in a reserve
called the Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary,
a fisheries research project run by the
Selangor State Fisheries Department.
PAGE 09
How to get there: The route from Kuala Kubu Baharu to The
Gap/Hill Fraser's leads to the entrance. You'll cross a tiny steel
bridge over the Chiling River shortly after passing the Selangor
Dam and reservoir. Just after the bridge, there is a parking space
with an entrance on the right side of the road.

Register can do at the
rangers' office and need to
pay RM1 per person entrance

warn visitor to reminded that
sign out in the register when
they return, which should be
before 5.30 p.m. If it begins to
rain during visit, the visitor
must return immediately as
the river and waterfalls are
dangerous in rainy weather.
PAGE 10
To get to Chiling Waterfall, visitors must cross the river six times.
The first crossing is simple and takes place on a suspension
bridge. After then, it's a 40-minute walk to the second crossing.
Following that, the remaining crossings are only a few minutes
apart.
The visitors can keep a look out for interesting flora and fauna.
Many Raja Brooke Birdwing butterflies were gathered along the
riverbank, sipping the mineral-rich water. The visitors also can
spotted upon a growth of pitcher plants (nepenthes ampullaria)
with gaping mouths. Unlike some other pitcher species, this type
of pitcher plant digests falling leaf litter rather than being
completely carnivorous.
Finally, after Crossing 6, the
visitors will get the first look of
Chiling Waterfall. At the base of
the waterfall, there is a huge pool
excellent for swimming (with
caution). Two more waterfalls
can be found here. If the visitors
stay on the same side of the river
instead of choosing Crossing 6,
the visitors will soon arrive at a
steep slope with a trail covered
in tree roots. The upper falls can
be reached by scrambling up this
slope. There is space for a picnic
on the upper level fall.

In a valley 150 metres above sea
level, Sungai Chongkak flows
through a verdant jungle. It takes
around an hour to get there from
Kuala Lumpur. You'll pass
through Malay villages and stalls
on your way to Sungai Chongkak
on Route B52. Along the way, the
Titiwangsa Mountains may be
seen well. This mountain range
includes Gunung Nuang,
Selangor's highest peak with a
height of 1,493 metres.
To get here, follow the ‘Chongkak

left into the narrow road. On left,
you'll see Sungai Congkak. The
stream is just about 10 metres
wide, and the water runs quickly
over pebbles under the green
shadow.
River Ecosystem
The park is separated into six
zones and developed along the
creek. Through the deep
woodland, a paved path
meanders for a kilometre beside
the creek. The route, which
crosses the stream multiple times,
