There is plenty of scenery to enjoy and some of the most beautiful scenes require driving through narrow and winding roads so be prepared to hold your breath every now and then.

The Community Foundation Of Broward Held The Inaugural Mayors Philanthropic Forum
To engage with local municipalities to grow and expand a culture of philanthropy across Broward County, the Community Foundation of Broward – Broward County’s trusted philanthropic leader for over 40 years – held the inaugural Mayors Philanthropic Forum in May. This special gathering brought together Broward’s mayors for lunch and a meaningful con- versation about how philanthropy can help shape stronger, more vibrant communities. This initiative aims to bring these leaders together annually to find new ways to work together to tackle Broward County’s biggest issues and create a positive impact for all residents.

ArtServe Celebrates The Opening Of “WILD: Invasive Species Of South Florida”

ArtServe welcomed guests to the opening night of its new environmental art exhibition, “WILD: Invasive Species of South Florida,” early in May. The free pub- lic reception featured a special screening of the PBS documentary, “Battleground Everglades – War on Invasive Species,” setting the stage for the multi-me- dia exhibit, which ran through June 20.
Supported by grants from the Broward Cultural Divi- sion and Funding Arts Broward, with sponsorship from Topo Chico, WILD blends artistic expression with eco- logical education to explore the impact of non-native species on South Florida’s unique ecosystems.
Exhibition highlights included works by Debbie Scott- Queenin, whose photography captures the delicate balance between native and invasive species, and LuRu, a mixed-media artist who challenges viewers to reflect on their own role in nature.

The Jim Moran Foundation has awarded a transformative $1 million grant as a part of its 25th anniversary to the Lighthouse of Broward, a nonprofit dedicated to em- powering individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This substantial gift will support capital improvements and the creation of a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen in the organization’s new Sunrise facility.
The new kitchen will serve as a cornerstone of independ- ence training for individuals living with vision loss – teaching essential daily living skills such as safely preparing meals, operating kitchen appliances, and using sharp tools with confidence and control.
To recognize its 25th Anniversary, The Foundation has already committed more than $5.6 million in special grants – with more to be announced in the coming months – that reach beyond its traditional giving guidelines to support nonprofit partners in Broward, Duval and Palm Beach counties.
“We are deeply honored and profoundly grateful for this extraordinary investment in our mission,” said Ellyn Drotzer, President and CEO of Lighthouse of Broward. “The Jim Moran Foundation’s support will not only help complete renovations on our new

More Than A Quarter Of A Million Dollars In Scholarships Were Awarded To Deserving Graduates At Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Broward’s Big Futures Scholarship Celebration
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County was proud to award $257,292 in scholarships to deserving high school graduates who are participants in their mentor- ing program at its third annual BIG Futures Scholars Celebration presented by Ana G. Mendez University. BIG Futures is a college and career readiness initiative designed to equip youth for post-secondary success through career mentoring, education and access to key opportunities.
All participating graduating Seniors also received special honor cords to celebrate their efforts. More than 350 guests, comprised of scholars and their families and friends along with donors and board members, were in attendance at the Hollywood Central Performing Art Center.
“BIG Futures initiates successful trajectories for our young people by providing them with the opportunity to achieve their dreams through higher education,” said Malena Mendez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. “We are exceptionally

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the iconic film, Back to the Future, with “Back to the Future in Concert,” as part of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Imagination Series, on July 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. Audiences will want to recharge the flux capacitor before cel- ebrating this blockbuster smash hit. The 1.21-giga- watt blockbuster topped the 1985 box office chart, spawned two wildly successful sequels and stamped an enduring imprint on pop culture. Marty McFly, Doc Brown and a time-traveling DeLorean come together for the adventure of a lifetime as they travel to the past, present and future, setting off a time-shattering chain reaction that disrupts the space-time continuum.
Fans old and new will experience the thrill of “Back to the Future” like never before, this time on a hi-def screen, accompanied by the South Florida Symphony Orchestra performing award-winning composer Alan Silvestri’s dazzling musical score live in sync with the film. Larry spent twenty-five years on the corporate side, first as a lawyer representing Fortune 500 corporations, then for the better part of two decades building a state-wide bank holding company in Florida where he served
as vice chairman of the board. Larry brings big picture corporate and legal perspectives to the agency and has been instrumental in advising clients in those areas. Having occupied a seat on the corporate side of the table, he sees marketing from the client’s point of view. He understands the financial implications of introducing new products, expanding distribution networks, and reaching
into new markets. Furthermore, as
an attorney Larry grasps the legal ramifications of business moves, marketing strategies and publicity campaigns. Larry served as the Chairman of the City of Miami Sports & Exhibition Authority and led the city’s efforts to build the original Miami Arena and bring the Miami Heat franchise to the city. After graduating with awards from college, René joined Backus Turner International to get her feet wet in the advertising world. She worked her way up through all departments to the position of Vice President. René is assertive and has strong business acumen. René has
spent over 25 years as a marketing professional. While successfully representing new construction developments, she fell in love
with real estate. She joined Compass and is now focusing her professional efforts to represent clients with the same dedication and expertise as she has her entire career. RIC GREEN
Ric Green is a South Florida executive who received his Associate’s degree from Broward College. His primary interest is in making his hometown the best place to live, work and play. He also loves amateur radio as well as cars of all types. His favorite charities are Boys & Girls Club, Partners in Education, and the Southern Automotive Media Association. He is President of the Broward County Council of Chambers of Commerce and serves on the Executive Committee of the
Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance for Economic Development and
on the Board of the City of Pompano Beach Economic Development Committee.
Ric is a member of the
Sports Car Club of America and hobbies include music, photography, cooking, writing and serving as an auto
racing announcer.
CHIP LAMARCA
Chip LaMarca is a lifelong resident of Broward County, representing Broward’s coastal communities. He’s earned a reputation for being a citizens’ advocate and respected voice for the taxpayers, veterans, first responders and pets
in Florida House District 93. After attending Broward College and Florida Atlantic University, Chip followed in
the footsteps of his late father helping create jobs in the construction industry. With over 20 years of experience
in the construction industry, he
opened LaMarca Construction, a firm specializing in power generation.
Chip and his wife Eileen reside in Lighthouse Point. Chip was elected to the Lighthouse Point City Commission in 2005 and re-elected in 2008 without opposition. In 2010 he ran a successful election to unseat the Broward County Mayor and was re-elected in 2014 with overwhelming support of the people. A passionate servant of the people, LaMarca made the personal sacrifice
to leave South Florida in 2018 when
he ran an election for the State
House of Representatives in District 93, keeping the only Broward seat in
the majority.
FREDERICK R. MACLEAN, JR.
Frederick R. MacLean, Jr. is the President and a Founding Partner of Heritage investment Group which provides investment and wealth management solutions
to high net worth investors, family trusts, charitable foundations and qualified plans. Fred holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington College and an MBA from Florida Atlantic University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Financial Planner practitioner,
