MAEDCO promotes economic development in the greater
Macomb area. The City of Bushnell has been an active member of
MAEDCO since 2006 and holds a seat on the Board of Directors.
McDonough County’s proposed wind farm (Cardinal
Point) is slated for construction early Spring 2019
and is scheduled to come online in March 2020.
The $250 Million project will have approximately
60-75 150MW turbines. The total process should
last about a year and employ 150-180 construction
workers. Total jobs created once completed will be
between 10-15.
MAEDCO is a member of many state and national
organizations. These include the Illinois Enterprise Zone
Association, the Illinois Economic Development Association, and
Corridor 67.

The Enterprise Zone is an important marketing tool and plays a crucial role in business
retention, expansion and attraction. The Enterprise Zone program is designed to
stimulate business development, job creation, retention, and neighborhood
revitalization in economically depressed areas of the state that fall within Illinois’ 92
designated enterprise zones. This is accomplished through state and local tax
incentives, regulatory relief and improved governmental services. MAEDCO serves as
the administrator of the Macomb/Bushnell Enterprise Zone.

What Qualifies? Building materials that are eligible for the enterprise zone sales tax
deduction includes items that are permanently affixed to real property like lumber,
mortar, wiring, etc...
Investment Tax Credit
Allows a .5% credit against the state income tax for investments in qualified
property that is placed in service in the enterprise zone
The credit may be taken by a qualified tax payer who makes an investment in a
“qualified property” and who otherwise meets the terms of the state
Qualified Property-Tangible, whether new or used, Including buildings and
structural components, acquired by purchase, is depreciable, and has a useful life.
Examples: Buildings, structural components of buildings, elevators, material tanks,
boilers, and major computer installations

USE OF DUES
Ten percent of investor dues are deposited into our seed capital fund. This
resource is used to provide financial support for the development
and/or expansion of business and industry which will create or add new jobs in
our area. This fund has accumulated over $300,000 throughout its
existence. The remaining 90% of member dues are used for
administration costs.
