Dear Friends, Mayor’s Message

As we enter a new year, we can take great pride in all WINTER / SPRING 2017
that we have accomplished together as a city, while
looking forward to even better days ahead.

Rialto is a city built on aspirations, vision and high
expectations – the fulfillment of which is occurring
before our very eyes. From the success of our small
businesses to the arrival and expansion of major
employers, Rialto is seen as a place to make one’s mark
in the world. We’re a community where people from
all walks of life proudly call home.

I am honored to have earned your confidence for a second term as your Mayor. Along
with the City Council you have elected, I pledge to continue doing everything in my
power to make Rialto the jewel of the Inland Empire, and to build upon the quality
of life we all cherish.

Along the way, we will have difficult choices to make, but here too, Rialto has always
stood tall – putting the betterment of the community above all else. Over the years, you
have supported us on revenue initiatives and when difficult budget cuts have had to be
made. In return, we’ve carefully managed your investment in us, building a city that
ranks among the most livable in Southern California.

As we look ahead, creating opportunities for all of our residents remains our top
objective. We hope that the children we raise will want to stay here as adults,
contributing to our community for years to come. This will require continued economic
development and job creation, and partnerships between our business community, our
schools and our City Hall team.

All of that starts with shared vision. In the coming months, I will continue to work
with stakeholder groups throughout our city to develop strategies that allow us to grow
in a smart way and prepare ourselves for a challenging, but prosperous, future.

Thank you again for your support of the work our superb City Hall team does.
We’re proud of our city, and proud to serve you.

Deborah Robertson

Citywide Safe School Routes

The Rialto Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program is working with parents, students, schools, community leaders and elected
officials to create a safe and encouraging environment for children to walk and bicycle to school. It will support the City’s and
region’s efforts to improve the quality of life for residents, employees, visitors, and business owners, while helping improve air
quality and reduce traffic congestion. The SRTS program will provide a comprehensive set of tools for creating a more vibrant
and resilient Rialto where safety and mobility are prioritized. Since the project kick-off in Spring of 2016, the program has
successfully completed a number of tasks and events with much more underway and planned for Spring 2017.
