A Guideline for Use

The use of an online flipbook demonstrates the following NC Digital Learning
Competencies for Calssroom Teachers:
Digital Citizenship
Teachers will model and teach digital citizenship by the ethical, respectful, and
safe use of digital tools and resources that support the creation of a positive
digital school culture.

Specifically:
o Engage in responsible and professional digital social interaction.
o Integrate digital citizenship curriculum into student learning.
o Ensure full, equitable access and participation of all learners through
high-quality technology tools and resources.

Digital Content and Instruction
Teachers will know and use appropriate digital tools and resources for
instruction.

Specifically:
o Design technology-enriched learning experiences that encourage all
student to pursue their individual interests, preferences, and differences.
o Identify, evaluate, and utilize appropriate digital tools and resources to
challenge students to create, think critically, solve problems, establish
reliability, communicate their ideas collaborate effectively.
o Evaluate and appropriately modify the forma and function of the physical
learning environment to create a conducive digital learning environment.

A Guideline for Use

Why use an online flipbook?

o It is an innovative method for sharing and showcasing information.
o It demonstrates professional online interaction with information.
o It makes information portable and easily accessible.
o It models approporiate use of digital tools for communication.
o It immerses the participant in an interactive learning experience.

When should you integrate an online flipbook within
instruction?

o As an online anchor chart.
o As an interactive, online word wall.
o As an online display of student work.
o As part of a lesson assignment associated with a digital publication.
o Any time a portable learning resource will benefit the student.

How can you integrate an online flipbook?

o Online flipbooks can be integrated for any instructional content.
o Online flipbooks are highly effective components of digital publishing

projects/assignments.
o Online flipbooks should be considered as a potential digital tool at the

beginning of lesson planning. Think about how they can be used when you
start planning your lesson.

Using AnyFlip.com
1. Go to www.anyflip.com and create a free account.
a. The easiest way is to sign up using your Google account.
2. Once your account is created, select the Upload Book icon

3. Click the “Default” image

4. Select “Add New Book”

5. Select version
a. HTML5 should be selected
b. It is not necessary to enable a hardcover.
c. Click OK

6. Complete the demographic fields and upload your .pdf.
a. For instructions on converting a Google Doc to .pdf, click
HERE.
i. Note: You can also pick files from Google Drive.
b. Field completion is not a requirement; however it is highly
recommended to provide your flipbook with a clear title, at
minimum.
c. To upload your .pdf, either drag and drop your file into the
designated box or click the Upload Your PDF icon to
upload the information from your computer.

7. Select “Save and Close”. Your document will begin uploading
and your flipbook will be processed. (Example below)
a. Note: If you do not designate a title for your flipbook, the
default title will be set as the actual title of your uploaded
file.

8. The completed upload will be visible and usable on your
dashboard.
a. Save and close once complete.

9. To share your completed flipbook, simply choose the Share
icon from your dashboard.

Viewing the Online Flipbook
To view the online flipbook, simply use the left and right arrows
to navigate through the content or click the page.
Use the top toolbar to print, zoom, or share the flipbook.
