Northern Powerhouse Export Champions 2018

Introduction

Marian Sudbury I am delighted to be introducing our first cohort of Northern Powerhouse
Global Operations Export Champions for 2018 – some of the most inspiring and successful
Director exporters and innovators in the North of England.
- Northern Powerhouse The Export Champions programme was first introduced in the North West six
years ago, and has now grown to include 92 brilliant companies from every
corner of the Northern Powerhouse.
This year we are proud to expand the initiative to include some incredible
businesses from the North East and Yorkshire and Humber who will be
joining us as champions and working with the Department for International
Trade (DIT) to support and encourage new exporters.
Research shows that exporting businesses become considerably more
flexible, agile and resilient. They achieve higher productivity and go on to be
more profitable. Doing business internationally can also help them to learn
about new technologies, new ways of doing things and new business trends -
helping them to stay ahead of the competition and be stronger in the face of
future shocks.
We know that there are great opportunities for the UK to make a success of
global Britain, as we renegotiate our relationship with the European Union
and reach out to new customers and markets around the world.
The Northern Powerhouse has a key role to play in this, and our Export
Champions are here to help each and every exporter make the most of
overseas opportunities and achieve their potential.
This year, as in previous years, our champions will be offering support to
newer exporters and generously sharing their time and expertise – whether
by mentoring others, speaking at events and seminars, accompanying us on
trade missions or simply being on hand to offer advice.
Our 2018 Export Champions include businesses of all different sizes, from
a wide range of sectors - but what they all have in common is their drive to
make the most of the opportunities that international trade can offer, and
their willingness to share their knowledge with others.
We will continue to grow our export strength across the Northern
Powerhouse in 2018, and I invite all companies – whether they are new to
exporting or are experienced exporters wanting to conquer new markets - to
join us on that journey.
Our Export Champions will be on hand throughout the year at events up and
down the region and I hope that their positive example will inspire the next
generation of international success stories.

price calculating postal scales for the mailroom market and exporting 38

representing 42% of overall turnover, and the company has won a
