Welcome to the 50th “Noche de las Américas” Gala

The Institute of Hispanic Culture, a 501 (c (3) corporation, was founded in 1965 a group of
Houston professionals interested in preserving enhancing and promulgating the Hispanic Culture and
languages inherited from Spain, Portugal and Latin America. The Institute’s mission is to disseminate
the Hispanic culture, to provide scholarships and to highlight the historical, linguistic, scientific, and
artistic achievements and presence of Hispanics in the United States, particularly in Texas.
The Institute’s membership is comprised of individuals from Latin American countries, Spain, Portugal
and North America. Through its wide range of cultural and education programs, the membership is
provided the opportunity to share, understand and appreciate the diverse cultures of the Hispanic
world. While enjoying the Gala, please consider be a member of the Institute of Hispanic Culture of
Houston.

Instructions for Bidding

• Bidding opens at 7:00 pm and continues until 10:00 pm.
• Bidder must place a sticker denoting their bidder number,

write name, and amount of bid on the bid sheet.
• Bids must be made in increments as indicated on the bid sheet.
• Bidders are encouraged to preview the items before the auction. All items are

auctioned on an as-is basis. Any descriptions of auction items are for the sole
purpose of identifying them.
• Payment may be made with cash, check, Master Card, Visa, and
American Express. No sales tax will be applied.
• All items must be claimed the evening of the Gala. Any shipping
costs for items represented by certificates are the responsibility of
the purchaser.
• All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds.
• Please note any restrictions on the items

The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston (IHCH) is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization,
founded in 1965 by a group of professionals living in Houston interested in preserving, enhancing
and promulgating the Hispanic culture and language inherited from Spain and Latin America.
The IHCH presents several events per year, the most well-known of which is the “Noche de
las Américas” Gala. This Gala held in October, commemorates the creation of the Hispanic
world through Columbus’ arrival in the new world. The proceeds from the gala are used to
fund activities of the Institute, including its cultural programs and scholarships.
This year the 51st “Noche de las Américas” Gala, is celebrating Discovery and
Exploration and includes the traditional March of Padrinos carrying Latin American
and Spanish flags. The March of Padrinos demonstrates the breadth and diversity of
the Hispanic world. Sponsors and underwriters for the Gala are given the honor of filing
in the flags which are then prominently displayed throughout the duration of the Gala.
