DENGUE

 Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus.
 Dengue is common in more than 100 countries around the world. Forty percent of the world’s population,

about 3 billion people, live in areas with a risk of dengue.

How is Dengue
Spread?

 Dengue viruses are spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. These
mosquitoes also spread Zika, chikungunya, and other viruses.

 The mosquito becomes infected when it takes the blood of a person infected with the virus. After about
one week, the mosquito can then transmit the virus while biting a healthy person

How to recognize Aedes
mosquitoes

 The Aedes Aegypti mosquito, or dengue mosquito, is dark coloured and has typical white markings on the
legs and lyre like markings on the thorax. It is significantly smaller in size, being only 4 to 7 millimetres
long

Dengue symptoms

 Many people experience no signs or symptoms of a dengue infection.
 When symptoms do occur, they may be mistaken for other illnesses such as the flu and

usually begin four to 10 days after you are bitten by an infected mosquito.

Where do aedes mosquitoes
breed?

 Aedes mosquitoes breed in that place which has stagnant water
 Mosquitoes can also lay their eggs on spoon that has water in it

How to prevent the breeding
of aedes mosquitoes

 Make sure there are no places that have water So that mosquitoes cannot reproduce
 If you find standing water on your property that may already be hosting mosquito larvae,

you can use household items to kill them safely.

of our residential areas so that these
mosquitoes do not breed and everyone
can live in peace and tranquility.
