Economic and Community Development Month

PUTTING THE WHEEL IN MOTION.

On Thursday evening, October 15, I attended a joint meeting with the Rotary Clubs of
Orange North and Orange Daybreak accompanied by our members David, Brian, Suzanne
and Janet to welcome to Orange Bob Montgomery who is a member of the Rotary Club of
Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise and is riding from Perth to Sydney raising money for Motor
Neurone Disease. During his presentation as Guest Speaker for the evening Bob made the
following points:

He is 71 years old and has been a Rotary member for only 8 weeks.
His average speed on the current bike ride is 28 klms. per hour.
He has raised approximately $30,000 for MND during his current ride.
He has not had one puncture on this ride and in fact is still on the original tyres.
Prior to doing this ride he trained for about 600 klms. per week along the Jenolan

Caves Road.
On a previous occasion Bob has ridden from Sydney to Port Douglas which he said

was an easier ride than the one which he is currently undertaking as the towns and
villages along his route were closer together.
He did share with us a number of highlights but in particular, he referred to the strong

easterly winds which had slowed him down for a lot of the ride.
Bob was supported by his wife Jenny, who unfortunately took ill along the way and

was returned to Kalgoorlie for hospitalisation. She is now at home in the Blue
Mountains awaiting Bob's return.

Don't forget the field days roster which is in circulation now and may require some
adjustment of rosters as there may be more available personnel on Thursday and possibly
some of those on Thursday could switch to Friday if that is convenient. Please check with
Paul.

Today Suzanne will be circulating a list for those members who wish to attend the
vocational visit to the
Orange Conservatorium of Music which will take place on Monday, November 2 at the usual
meeting time. A meal will be Subway style and Suzanne will advise of the cost.

Today our Guest Speaker is our own member Robyn Ellis. Robyn will be speaking on
genealogy and her subject
is 'Who do you think you are' ?
Peter.

Important Notices

Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Rotary Club of Orange Calare (Inc.) will be held on
16th November commencing at 1:00pm at Duntryleague Woodward Street Orange.
This notice is given in accordance with the By Laws of the Club, Article 5, Section 1.
Nomination forms for the board for the year 2016-17 are included in this bulletin.

Notice of Proposed Amendment
to Club By Laws

Notice is hereby given that following a meeting of the Board of the Rotary Club of Orange
Calare (Inc.) held on Wednesday 7th October at Duntryleague Woodward St Orange, it is

proposed to amend the By Laws as follows:
Article 12 Finances, Section 4 reads: A thorough review of all financial transactions by a

qualified person shall be made once each year.
It is proposed that the words "by a qualified person" be deleted.
Reason for amendment: Under reviewed and now current legislation there is no longer
a requirement for the books of an incorporated association to be audited where

turnover is less than $250,000 unless required by ASIC.
All current financial members (not including honorary members) are eligible to vote.

Last week's Meeting
There was none!

It was combined with Orange North on Thursday evening

Here's a couple of news items from the District Newsletter

LEGACY AND ROTARY

The proceeds of a recent climb of Mount Kenya by Coolamon and Wagga Sunrise clubs have been presented to
Legacy in Wagga Wagga and Forbes. The climb coordinated by John Glassford was made in conjunction with the
armed services to commemorate Anzac Day celebrations and the funds raised will go to support Legacy across our
district. A wonderful story with a great outcome as Rotary partners with a respected community organisation to
make our place a better place to live.

AUSTRALIAN ROTARY HEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS

Across the district this year we have sponsored 5 Indigenous health Scholarships. Three of the recipients recently
attended a presentation to meet with their sponsor club and tell us about their studies. This program is going a long
way to making the communities they serve better places to live and we should be proud of our involvement. Thanks
to our district rep PDG John Egan and Cheryl Degeura from ARH

We are still looking for RYPEN Coordinator

Our Club needs a Rotary Youth Program of
Enrichment (RYPEN) Coordinator
or

we will not be in a position to send a candidate to
this fantastic youth program.

This would have to be one of the easiest jobs to do in our
calendar being an integral part of our youth programs
and further enhancing our relationship with both
Orange High and Orange Anglican Grammar Schools.
What does it entail?

1. Send Application Form and Information For Schools to local schools and promote RYPEN in schools
2. Interview & select applicants
3. Complete Club Sponsorship form
4. Remind students to complete the online Medical Consent form for Borambola
5. Send Application Forms and Club Sponsorship form to RYPEN committee ASAP – the sooner the better.
6. Send payment ASAP
7. Assist in coordinating pickups/drop-offs for transport
It might sound like a lot but be assured there are experienced club members to assist.

We need your help. Can you be our RYPEN Coordinator for 2015.

No Coordinator..... No Calare RYPEN Candidate!
