Leading with empathy

Armstrong front and center in local social-justice movement

BY BRIAN MARSCHHAUSER
EDITOR

After years of working in the

non-pro t sector and serving as

a community organizer in the

city, Brooklyn-born and Harlem-

raised Daks Armstrong “retired”

from activism and moved to the

suburbs a few years ago to raise

a family.

“I really wanted to move up

here to a quieter, unassuming

life,” said Armstrong, a Yorktown

I was.”

But farmers markets and

pumpkin blazes quickly took a

backseat. Armstrong’s relative

Mask giveaway

On ursday, Aug. 20, the Chabad of Yorktown and the town of Yorktown gave out 5,000 reusable
cloth masks to residents at Yorktown Town Hall. e Chabad received the masks as part of a grant for re-
ligious communities. But Rabbi Yehuda Heber wanted to include the community at large in the giveaway,
especially with school resuming.
