Community Grants Report
March 2020

City of Bennington, Bennington
Sports Complex Field Restoration Project

Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, Bennington
Community Fund, $18,300, Awarded 05/20/2019

Project Summary: This grant will allow for the repair and
updating of the Bennington Sports Complex ball fields. This
grant covers the installation of red dirt to all three fields as well as
installation of foul poles and fence topper on Field #2.

Use of Funds: The funds were used to level the existing fields for
proper drainage and then haul in and spread a new layer of the
red clay dirt on to the fields.

Impact & Results: This grant has further allowed us to work towards our overall goal of restoring the entire
Bennington Sports Complex. We strive to make it a beautiful facility that the whole community can be proud of as
well as become a desired destination for ball teams across the area.

Fountain Township on behalf of Ada, Luke Park Playground

Ottawa County Public Health, Ottawa County Impact Fund, $4,246,
Awarded 05/20/2019

Project Summary: We request funding to install new playground
equipment in our community park.

Use of Funds: The funds were spent on the purchase and installation of a
Castle Grey Metal Playset from Backyard Specialists. This also included the
purchase and installation of fabric ground cover and mulch borders.

Impact & Results: The playset replaced old playground equipment in the
park of our town. It has made the park safer for the youth in our community
so families are more willing to let their children play in the park. It has also
enhanced the appearance of the park, making it look neater and more
modern. Without the grant, we would not have been able to do this project.
