We recognize that networking is a critical element of any industry gathering,
and we plan for plenty of opportunities at IWCS 2017 in Orlando. On Monday,
IWCS will host a hospitality hour in the exhibit hall with your suppliers and
customers. After the exhibits close, the Wire & Cable Industry Suppliers As-
sociation® (WCISA®) will join us to host a reception to honor our industry’s
young professionals, new visitors to IWCS and students who are showing
interest to join our industry upon graduation. Plan to join us for cocktails and
hors d’oeuvres prior to your evening dinner plans.

Thank you, for joining us at IWCS 2017. Our most important goal is to meet
all your expectations for a valuable learning and networking experience. We
look forward to meeting you and hearing any suggestions you have to further

HOW DO
YOU MEASURE
ADVANCED DESIGN?

At Tensor, we measure ourselves by a higher
standard—one of advanced design.

Upholding this standard has turned Tensor
into a global leader in both fiber optic and
specialized copper wire manufacturing
equipment. It’s why we settle for nothing
less than groundbreaking innovations—like
those in our latest HD SZ Stranding line.

But advanced design is more than that. It’s
a conversation to better understand your
challenges. It’s a desire to find the best
technical solution—one tailored to fit all of
your needs.

At Tensor Machinery, advanced design is
more than innovation. It’s innovation made
to measure.

Cable Components Group’s patented FluoroFoam® chemically foamable fluoropolymer technology has been
widely successful in enhancing 6 LAN™ insulation and crosswebs’ electrical and physical properties and im-
proving low smoke and flame spread characteristics for all plenum cables. The landscape is rapidly changing
and recent changes to the National Electric Code (NEC) and UL’s new Limited Power “LP” test method have a
substantial impact that requires a new vision for material selection criteria and a need for higher temperature
rated materials. A robust cable is needed as power is increased up to 1 Amp (or 200 watts), thus creating
conditions that cause overheating and degradation in the majority of installation conditions.
As a result of these heightened conditions, FluoroFoam is further thrust into center-stage as the innovative
solution to foam insulations, crosswebs and jackets as a means to minimize heat buildup and heat transfer to
adjacent cables for Power over LAN applications.
FluoroFoam is well suited for all aspects of the
cable as a broad range of riser and plenum fire
retardant grades are adversely affected by these
recent changes. Most notably for this application
is CCG’s FluoroFoam insulation, Flap-Tops and
airspace crosswebs, and FEP or MFA jackets.
As a complement to their FluoroFoam product
line, CCG’s new compounding lines deepen its
commitment to high temperature materials, such as fluoropolymers and
engineered resins including PES, PPSU, PPS and PEEK. This strategy is
rooted in foamable resins, fire retardancy, low smoke generation and halogen
free chemistries. CCG’s core product and compounding emphasis remains
focused on balancing characteristics for the evolving Power over LAN standard, as well as lowering the com-
bustible footprint and lightweighting plastics to provide customers with the cables of the future.

Kuraray supplies the wire and cable industry with VectranTM LCP fibers in HT (high strength)
and UM (high modulus) grades. LCP fibers are stronger than para-aramids, with superior flex
fatigue and abrasion resistance. In addition they have near-zero moisture content, eliminating
a frequent cause of blistering during high-speed extrusion of polymer cable jackets. LCP fibers
are used in many specialty cable and umbilical applications demanding durability in high stress
dynamic end uses. In addition to high performance fibers, Kuraray also produces SeptonTM and
HybrarTM thermoplastic elastomers. TPEs and modified blends can be extruded for protection,
vibration damping, added grip, and other user-defined attributes.

OptEM Cable Designer is the first software tool customized to design, analyze and model electrical and
propagation parameters for all types of copper cables. The software reduces prototyping iterations and
costs by allowing engineers to simulate cable performance prior to prototyping and lab measurements.
Cable design details are entered through the graphical interface or by reading Excel spreadsheets.
Built-in libraries of frequency-dependent materials and object definitions are used in cable construction
and can be easily customized. Enhanced design features include Pair Advisor (calculates conductor
and insulate diameters for a selected standard) and Lay Length Advisor (optimizes lay length values
for data cables to minimize
NEXT). The cable cross sec-
tion is automatically extruded
by the software producing
a 3D cable model showing

OptEM Cable Designer’s
built-in EM field solver ana-
lyzes high frequency skin
and proximity effects in wires,
eddy currents in shields, and
dielectric losses in insulation.
Including these effects is
crucial for accurate analysis
