Dear Janeen Judah
Chevron:
I am interested in joining your company to gain work experience though the company’s student
programs that are being offered, I am currently enrolled in college to earn my Bachler’s degree in
petroleum engineering, also I have military experience as a petroleum supply specialist and have
basic understanding of water, land, and aviation operations. I believe that I could benefit the
company as I would require less training and would be able to start right away. I am able to work
well with anyone as I am a team player and have good communication skills.
Thank you for taking the time of looking though my resume and cover letter and I hope to hear
from you soon.

Sincerely,

Christian Morales

Petroleum Engineer
At first the thought of a career was nowhere in my mind. I had my heart set on
the Army Infantry, Rangers, and Airborne school so much that I way oblivious to the rest
of the world. But, before signing my name on paper I changed my job to 92Fox
Petroleum Supply Specialist. It was during my training that I had time to think about my
life and my future. The further I went on with my training I found that I really enjoy
working with Petroleum. Therefore, I began to start to think of a career possibility
because the petroleum field is large and always in demand I could work anywhere; oil
rigs, shoreline, ship yards, rail yards, aviation, terminal mainline, etc. All of these career
fields pay very well up to $189,992 a year but I am not too interested in the pay but
rather have a career that is not a desk job. From my Do What You Are report I am a
hands on type of person and this career has me going to rig sites and on the field work.

To become a petroleum engineer most companies require that you have a Bachler’s
degree before they even start looking at you as a candidate. Also, there no requirement
for licenses but you can obtain one for a higher position in the company. Some skills
that are needed are problem solving skill, communication and five years of work
experience. As a petroleum engineer your job will require to go out and do field work
which means oil rigs, monitoring the pipelines, checking the pumps, looking for new

areas that is big enough for operations and so forth. Work hours can be very long on the
field 48 hour to sometimes up to 72 hours. when your not on the field you are work in
the office trying to find new ways of getting the fuel from the ground quickly and easily
without spending too much on the tools or pipes.

Lastly for my own path to this career here at lone star I must get an associates of
applied science degree ( AAS). most of my classes or going to be math and science.
That is straight forward, after that I will transfer to University of Houston and follow the
degree plan of an Engineer then break off for my specific career field. As I do this I will
be involved with major companies by joining their programs that allow college student to
work part time in this career field to gain their work experience. I feel that I am going to
like this career very much it not an office job and it requires that you are active in every
step of its operations. I already have a taste of this career field with my job in the military
and I love it. My favorite part of this career that I would enjoy the most is going out into
the field. My reasoning is because you can travel to different place or go over sea or to
other countries and work. Not every career gives you that option to travel as part of your
work. It is this reason why I think that this career would be a blessing for me as I like to
travel but cannot find the time to do so. Any way this is my career and my path to obtain
this career.
