SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

Young children are naturally curious explorers who are eager to discover
information about the world around them. Children learn scientific concepts
by exploring observing and investigating materials and ideas. These experiences provide the foundation for
abstract and scientific thought. Science concepts are encompassed throughout the key areas of early learning;
for example, children use pretend play to explore and manipulate materials, creative arts to discover a variety
of ways to express their ideas, and literacy and language arts to research answers to questions. Lunch time is
part of the schedule. Students can bring a peanut free lunch from home or have a school provided lunch for

KID ZONE SCHOOL AGE CARE & ENRICHMENTAbout Kid Zone

Kid Zone is a before and after-school program which provides
care and enrichment opportunities to children in kindergarten
through 5th grade. Kid Zone is offered at each elementary
school and provides activities on regular school days as well as
all-day programming on most non-school days, such as teacher
workshop days, winter break, etc.

The Kid Zone program is divided into two different sessions.
The before-school session begins at 6:30 am and operates until
the school day begins. Children have a wide variety of activities to choose from including arts/crafts, gym
games, tech time, weekly themes, projects and hands-on learning centers. Parents can purchase a healthy
breakfast for their child through the district’s breakfast program.

During the after-school session, children may join in indoor/outdoor games, recreational events,
homework help and enjoy an after-school snack. The after-school session begins at dismissal time and is
open until 6:00 pm. Both before and after-school sessions offer a balance of fun and learning.

Depending on each child’s needs, families can enroll in one or both sessions. For more information,
scheduling options and registration questions, call 952-232-2154.
