The Rancho Mirage Observatory is complete. This remarkable scientific and educational
project will be in the capable hands of our Astronomer, Eric McLaughlin. He will guide
its use as a dramatic tool to further the Library’s mission – making lifelong learning
available for all of our residents and everyone in the Coachella Valley.

There is much to enjoy at the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory!

On a final, personal note, this is my fortieth and last Director’s Introduction to our
quarterly Guide. I am retiring after forty-seven years as a Librarian, capped by the best
ten years of my life at the helm of one of America’s very best libraries – the Rancho
Mirage Library and Observatory. My home will still be Rancho Mirage, with opportunity
to travel to see family, plenty of reading, attention to my novel, and time in my studio to
make my faux folk art.

Many thanks to our City Council, City Manager, Randy Bynder, City and Library staff,
the Library Foundation, and to our volunteers. Special thanks to Susan Cook, Program
Librarian who packs these pages with programs every quarter. Thanks to Dustin
Ingham, AV Technician, who makes the events we dream up take place in reality. I also
want to express my deep appreciation to Jamie Kabler, Founder of the Rancho Mirage
Writers Festival.

We love our audiences, our Library patrons, and we always remember, without our
donors and those assembled in our Community Room, we would not offer such an
array of programs. The Library and Observatory are in a golden era!

David Bryant, Library Director

Note: Any changes to this schedule, including additional programs, will be announced on our website ranchomiragelibrary.org
which is always worth a visit to get the latest information about your Rancho Mirage Public Library.
