There was a genuine spirit of giving that filled the air at
30 Matthews Street in Goshen. Quest Financial Servic-
es was hosting an event at their office and the attend-
ees were inspired to participate. This wasn’t just another wine
tasting offered by just another Financial Planning Firm. The
primary focus of the evening was “giving back.” The guest
of honor was a small vineyard out of Napa Valley, California
called ONE HOPE.
During the season of giving, unique ideas are a rare com-
modity. There are so many deserving charities it can be dif-
ficult to decide which cause to support. Quest is dedicated
to providing educational, entertaining, and charitable events
for clients and their guests. On this particular evening, all
three items were met. Team members explained the details
of the ONE HOPE wines and the causes each one represents.
“A night like this truly shows the charitable behavior that we
stand for,” said Robert Cepeda, CFP® and managing partner
of Quest Financial Services.
ONE HOPE vineyard and winery creates products that inspire
people to indulge and support causes throughout the world.
The proceeds from the sale of their wine benefits childhood
hunger, children with autism, breast cancer, veterans, and
homelessness. To date, ONEHOPE has made more than $2
million in donations, providing over 2,600 clinical trials for
cancer patients, 13,000 forever homes for shelter animals,
1.1 million meals for children, 33,000 life-saving vaccines, and
much more. “It is a pleasure for us to be able to give back
to worthy causes that will impact our world and create aware-
ness,” stated Amy Lauterborn, Quest team member.
2017 is under way, and Quest Financial Services is proud to
announce their new giving program. “Quest Cares” is a fo-
cused effort to make the difference in the battle against can-
cer. Robert Cepeda, a Goshen High School graduate, and
Nicholas Tuck, a graduate from Warwick, are the founding
partners of this organization. “We made a conscious deci-
sion to stay here,” said Tuck. “We not only wanted to build
a business here, where we were raised, but also give back.
Our families and friends are here. We have roots here and
that’s important to us.” Cepeda added, “From the very be-
ginning we wanted our business to be located here because
we wanted to support this community.”
There are many organizations in the Goshen area which can
benefit from your support. Some are looking for volunteer
efforts; others are looking for non-monetary donations, while
a plethora are seeking contributions of the monetary sort. If
you have questions about charitable giving, don’t hesitate
to contact the helpful professionals at 30 Matthews Street,

Goshen Christmas House Tour Raised
More than $23,000 for Catholic Charities

Community Services

C lose to 400 guests were warmly
welcomed into eight private
Goshen houses and two bonus
locations for a sneak peek at
their holiday finery for Catholic Charities
Community Services of Orange and Sulli-
van’s 2nd annual Goshen Christmas House
Tour. More than $23,000 was raised in
support of the non-profit’s mission to pro-
vide help and create hope for those most in
need in our community.

Catholic Charities’ House Tour guests
checked in at Glen Arden, where tickets
were also available for event day purchase.
While there, they were treated to live musi-
cal entertainment from a variety of Goshen
High School Music Department student
ensembles and the Warwick High School
Meistersingers. They also enjoyed fresh-
baked goods and hot chocolate from Shop-
Rite Supermarkets, home-made cookies
from the Bellvale Bruderhof Community,
and hot apple cider from Soons Orchards.
Guests kicked-off their outing by visiting
two Glen Arden apartments decorated for
Christmas before setting out on the self-
guided Tour.

Of the eight private homes on the Tour, six
were in the Village of Goshen, most within
walking distance of each other, and two in
the Town of Goshen. In addition to Glen
Arden, the newly refurbished Stagecoach
Inn opened its doors for Catholic Chari-
ties’guests. Better Homes & Gardens Rand
Realty and the Harness Racing Museum
also welcomed Tour participants to warm
up and refresh.

“The Holiday House Tour is a great way
to launch the Christmas season,” said
Susan Murray Tetz, President of Catho-
lic Charities’ Board of Directors and
House Tour committee Chairperson.
“We were so blessed to have the support
of eight homeowners and their families,
as well as our friends at Glen Arden and
the Stagecoach Inn, who opened their
hearts and their homes to friends and
strangers alike and gave so generously
of their time, talent, and treasure to raise
much-needed funds for those served by
Catholic Charities.”

E ach location was unique in its decorating style and pre-
sentation of the Christmas theme. Father George Ha-
femann, pastor at St. John’s Church in Goshen and a
Catholic Charities’ board member, offered a blessing at
each home prior to the start of the Tour. Students from John S. Burke
Catholic High School and St. John’s School and Religious Education
Program volunteered at the homes, assisting homeowners with a vari-
ety of tasks to welcome guests.
Before starting out, Tour participants received a Guide Book which
featured a map, a photo and description of each location, as well as
advertisements, special offers, and holiday wishes from House Tour
sponsors and supporters.
The House Tour was part of the weekend’s Gather in Goshen cel-
ebration organized in partnership with the Village of Goshen, Goshen
Chamber of Commerce, John S. Burke Catholic High School, and Il-
luminate Goshen. In addition to the House Tour, the festivities in-
cluded a Holiday Boutique at Burke and the lighting of the Christmas
tree in the Village center.
Planning has already begun for the 2017 Goshen Christmas House
Tour which will be held Saturday, December 2. Anyone interested in
volunteering their home for the 2017 Catholic Charities Christmas
House Tour should contact Sheila Toohey at 845.294.5124, ext. 308 or
