Dear Happenings Readers,

This past week, in light of the Covid-19 crisis, a number of people have asked “will there be a new issue
of Happenings next week?” The copy you are holding in your hand answers that question. However, as we
all know we are living in the midst of uncharted waters. In the days and weeks ahead, no one knows where
this crisis will take us, both from a health and economic standpoint. Like ourselves, so many of our friends
and advertisers are facing the biggest challenge in their business lives, something never seen before. It’s
been said, “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” This
couldn’t ring more true than today. Ultimately, this health and economic crisis will eventually pass and
hopefully our many locally owned businesses will weather the storm. They are our friends, they are our
neighbors and they need our help and support, both now and in the near future when this crisis subsides.
It’s a heartfelt plea that your hard earned dollars are spent with local in mind. On the Happenings front, we
are in our 43rd year and yes, we will continue to publish however our distribution will be modified for the
time being. The average age of our delivery drivers is over 70. They are of that generation that exudes a
strong, dedicated work ethic but sadly with this virus, they are also the most vulnerable. Consequently,
beginning this week, our vast circulation will be redirected, concentrating on our larger, higher volume
locations such as supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores and select local businesses that are still
open. You will also find us online at Hap2it.com. We also ask you to tune in to our daily radio show
Happenings Q & A on AM1050 WLIP. We’re on the air Monday - Friday from noon to 3pm. We will con-
tinue to feature a variety of guests as well as reach out to our listeners and advertisers, checking in with
them for updates. In Italy, during this time of crisis, the need for social contact is so strong neighbors are
singing to each other from balconies. We will use our radio show as a social and emotional balcony.
