PREFACE
Praise and gratitude I pray to the presence of Allah S.W.T who has given His grace and gifts so
that I can carry out the Field Work Practice and can complete the preparation of this report. It
could not be separated from the help of all parties who have helped me a lot in completing this
practical work report. For this reason, I would like to take this opportunity to thank:

I believe this report is far from perfect, therefore I welcome suggestions and constructive

SUMMARY
The writer has followed industrial work practice. It aimed to get experience and new knowledge. It was
held at X-SOLUTION Workshop, Tambak from January 31st, 2022 until July 15th, 2022. The writer learned
about Maintenance and repairment on drum brake.
Brakes are designed to reduce (slow) and stop the vehicle or allow parking of the wheels on a downhill
slope. This is very important in vehicles because it serves as a safety tool and ensures the safety of the
driver. A drum brake is one of the brake construction methods that uses a brake drum, brake shoe, and
wheel cylinder.
Drum brake components :
1. Backing Plate
2. Wheel cylinder
3. Brake shoes and brake pads
4. Return spring
5. Brake shoe holder
6. Brake shoe adjusting cylinder
7. Drum brake
8. Anchor pin
Inspections on the drum brake system include: checking the inner diameter of the drum, checking for
damage to brake shoes, checking brake pads, checking for brake fluid leaks in the wheel cylinders,
checking brake fluid and checking master cylinders.
In order for the rider to be comfortable in driving, brake maintenance must be carried out. Drum brake
maintenance includes the following:
1. Replace the brake shoes if they are worn or thin.
2. Adjust the brakes properly to maintain a balanced friction.
3. Check the quality of brake fluid.
4. Always clean the drum brake components from dust
5. Routine check or service.
6. Always replace components that are not up to standard.
7. Do braking carefully so that the components on the drum brake are not damaged quickly.
