School Team Participation.
Makayla Kurfess, 15, riding Amuleto, an
18-year-old Andalusian gelding owned by
Isabella Grigorian. Makayla began riding
Amuleto in September of 2018 to train for
the Saddleseat and Western School League
(SWSL) 2018-2019 show season with her
school team, iLEAD Schools in Santa Clarita,
California. Makayla and Amuleto ride under
the training of La Vine Equestrian in Agua

Amuleto and Makayla earned the league’s
champion in the freshmen division in Sad-
dleseat and Western and the school cham-
pionship for the league. Though Makayla’s
and Amuleto’s time riding together has been
brief, they have developed a quick bond and

spend time together at the barn on trail rides
and exploring different disciplines. The two are not afraid to try disciplines that are not often considered for
Andalusians, yet they still take on the challenges and have fun while at it. This team has found that they are very
versatile together and will continue taking on new opportunities in the show ring and for fun.
