Welcome to the KCS SPEAKEASY: PLAY FOR THE PARK GALA in support of the
Humbertown Park Renovation Project! We are honoured to be your Co-Chairs for
the evening and support this fantastic initiative.

Humbertown Park is a wonderful part of our neighbourhood and the site of
so many memories for KCS students. From recess to sports practices to spirit
events like the Terry Fox Walk and the Ooch Walk, the park is used every day by
our children. Living beside it gives us a unique perspective on its importance
to the entire community. The park is where our son, Lincoln, plays after school
and on weekends; where he learned to throw a ball, fly a kite, and even catch a
Pokemon. Neighbourhood kids play sports here on summer nights and toboggan
and build snowmen here on winter weekends. Through tonight’s GALA, we hope
that you will discover more about the exciting changes coming to the park and
how this renovation will benefit every child at KCS – today and in the future – as
well as the entire community.

The GALA has involved more than a year of planning. Thanks to the hard
work and dedication of the GALA Committee and the KCS Advancement team,
everything has come together beautifully and we couldn’t be more proud. We
know that this will be a great evening for KCS that will have an enormous impact
on the future of the park, and be fun for all of you.

PARK GALA. We are able to complete major projects like the Humbertown Park
Renovation Project because of your support. Nights like this demonstrate our
community’s spirit!

Congratulations to the Gala Co-chairs Samantha Dugas and Ira Nishisato and to the
entire Gala Committee for putting together this unforgettable evening in support
of such a worthy cause. We also thank all our tireless volunteers for helping make
the evening a success. Finally, we are grateful for the long hours and unflagging
dedication of Hallie McClelland and her team in the Advancement office. The Gala
would have been impossible without you.

In partnership with the City of Toronto, we look forward to building two new play
structures designed with different ages in mind; installing a running track around an
improved field; creating an outdoor learning space, and improving the drainage on
the field so that children can use Humbertown Park year round. A special thanks to
Councillor John Campbell for his support of this project. We certainly appreciate his
willingness to work with our school on this initiative.

SPEAKEASY: PLAY FOR THE PARK GALA, hosted by Kingsway College School in
support of the Humbertown Park Renovation Project.
Humbertown Park is home to KCS students for recess, physical education and
citizenship events. Additionally, the park is used extensively throughout the year
by soccer associations, local community groups and families in the evenings and
on weekends.
As the City Councillor for Ward 4, Etobicoke Centre, and as a proud member of
the Etobicoke community for over 35 years, I would like to commend all of you
for your contributions to the Humbertown Park Renovation Project. I applaud
Kingsway College School for leading the charge to renovate this vital Kingsway
community space and to you for supporting this important project that will benefit

Humbertown Park!

With your investment tonight into the future of
KCS students, we are one step closer to making
our goal a reality. With your generous support,
we will install two new play structures designed
for different age groups making recess a more
enjoyable time for play, growth and excitement.

As a City of Toronto owned space with one of the
only 300-foot soccer/football fields in the area,
Humbertown Park became an ideal location for
the Toronto Argonauts to practice from 1993 to
1995. Since then, it has become the home to a
growing number of soccer associations, local
community groups and a space for families in the
evenings and on weekends. Addressing the field
irrigation and drainage will help to improve this
space making it a welcome place to play year-
round.

The additional installment of a running track and
an outdoor classroom will provide educational
and recreational enhancements to support all the
needs of our students.

Twenty years ago, members of the Kingsway
College School community worked with the then
City of Etobicoke to refresh Humbertown Park.
The park is not scheduled for further renovations
from the City of Toronto for another decade.

With the guidance of our Project Management
team from TriAxis Construction and our
Landscape Designers Haig Seferian Design,
our goal is to complete the Humbertown Park
renovation in the summer of 2018.
