Dear Parent

PROPOSED FORM 2 SUBJECT CHOICE - APTITUDE TESTING

The Form 2 subject choice information evening will take place in the third term of the 2018
Academic year. With this in mind, the College will be offering subject choice assessments to
assist boys and parents in making informed decisions regarding their individual subject choices.
Mr. Mark Southwood (Clinical Psychologist) and Ms Elzaan Cook (Educational Psychologist) will
be facilitating the assessment process. A group assessment will take place during the mid-year
exam. Boys do not prepare for these tests. They are only required to be rested and present for
the assessment.

A variety of tests will be administered to the students in group format. These tests will give an
indication of each student’s personality, interests, values, strengths and aptitude. In
combination, the information and results from the assessment may be useful in assisting
students and parents to get to know the student better. Knowing more about one’s strengths,
abilities, interests and personality may help to form the foundation for the student’s individual
career path, of which choosing Grade 10 subjects is one of the first important steps.

Following the assessment process, the information and results from the assessment will be
summarised in the form of individual reports. Both Mr. Southwood and Mrs. Cook will be
available by appointment or at the subject choice evening to discuss the results with parents.

The cost of the assessment will be approximately R700 per boy, which will include the
assessment, report and feedback session. Further details regarding the specific tests that will
be administered as well as the payment will be conveyed should you wish your son to
participate. We will finalize the figure once the final number of students and cost of the test
material has been confirmed.

Should you choose to have the assessment done for your son, kindly click on this link and submit
your response: https://goo.gl/forms/xPEOCazlpmuX5fg82 by no later than 23 June. Due to the
logistics involved in conducting this assessment, it is vital that the form be completed and
returned in time.

Yours sincerely

Mark Southwood and Elzhann Cook
